Roast Getting fed up with the commentating

Genuinely can't stand hearing Johnathon Brown's ******ed thoughts. He thinks he's intelligent or insightful not a bogan w***er who happened to be good at a sport. I can't stand the bloke.

Doesn't help that I've met him in person twice through mutual acquaintances and he's a genuinely cocky piece of crap with one of the worst senses of humour I've ever witnessed in person.

Another example of bias on the Sunday footy show, idiot Cornes drops Pendlebury from his AA team on the back of his 34 disposals yesterday. Apparently others are “more damaging” never mind Pendlebury was arguably best on ground.

The 2 mids who came in were Yeo (26 disposals last week) and Shuey (29 last week). Yeo was named bog and Shuey got the coaches votes, but I take issue with Pendlebury being not being damaging enough.

best idea is to stop reading cornes or listening to him or watching him. It's fairly simple. At any rate, i couldnt really give a stuff if he put his mother in the AA team. Actually I dont really give a stuff what the actual selectors do either.

It's harder to get away from the people who are commentating on the game.

The problem seems to be that fox and seven dont like employing collingwood people. Michael Christian is an exception and he had to portray himself as completely unbiased. It seems that the general football public dont like collingwood people commentating.... eddie is the prime example. Just contrast Eddie with someone like Paul Roos or Jason Dunstall. Roos goes into a state of depression if "his" team is losing and Fox insists on having him commentate on Demons and Swans games. Dunstall openly talks about himself as a Hawks supporter.

Even Sarah Jones, the token female, is encouraged to promote her "beloved bombers". I think it's because the younger generation need a type of "influencer" presence in their lives.... social media comes to football commentating.

There's a difference to how many of them support their team. As I said, Roos tends to infect the whole commentary for the day. Everyone in the booth gets depressed if the Demons are getting belted... which is often. People like Brad Johnson are a bit more good natured about it. Old hands like Dennis Commeti used to refer to West Perth but he didnt barrack for the eagles or the dockers...although you got the feeling that he didnt like to see the dockers get belted.

Another one that comes to mind is Tony Shaw who was involved in commentary a while back. He was required to say a few critical things about the Pies to prove his independence..... and got blasted on here for a number of years. I dont think I've ever seen Jason Dunstall be critical of the Hawks.... he has strategically said that they wont make finals etc, but I've always felt that he has doing it to rev up the club....And the bottom line is that the general public tolerates his attitudes.

In the end, it isnt going to change. At some stage, the Pies might get big enough to run their own telecast.... and the collingwood media dept might feel inclined to do something that is actually related to playing the game.

They are all ponies.

I don't care if they are Collingwood haters. Actually I love the fact that we are despised. But if you are commenting on a game then you have to do it professionally.
I don't ever recall listening to someone like Dennis Cometti and thinking "wow how biased is this guy".
I don't even know who he supported (I imagine it was one of the WA teams) and that's how it should be.

Cometti had a soft spot for the Dogs. Never would have known it though.

Years ago there was a Footy caller on the ABC (can't think of his name) who only called the actual play, for instance he would say it like: "Pendlebury in the middle, handballs to Treloar on the edge of the square, who short passes to Mihocek on the 50 who will take a set shot at goal"
No theatrics, no screaming, no weird names for footballers. He was so good to listen to
Drew Morphett?

I’d love to see the anti-Collingwood bias get to the point where the commentators start paying out on the losing opposition side;

“Toby Greene sends the ball forward from about 70m out and going back with the flight is Maynard who marks but FFS Himmelberg YOU’VE GOT TO PLAY IN FRONT YOU WEAK DOG! EVERY ****ING TIME!!”

Two pearlers (amongst many) last night were calling Maynard incorrectly as Crisp
Wasn’t the only occasion or mixup, Dunstall incorrectly called a pies player multiple times last night. Some didn’t even look alike and on one occasion he had 3 cracks before getting it right!

Then it would be just like a live, non Collingwood version of the game day thread . . . .

Think I'd pass on that

Maybe not as the new standard, but it’d be good for a laugh once.

For the first time I watched the replay with the sound off - loved it!

If unable to filter them out I mute the TV; it's a regular thing.

Commentators are superfluous to my footy experience.

My least favourite is Dermy. Not saying he is anti-Collingwood, more that he’s incomprehensible. I’ve no idea what he’s on about.

But he has interesting hair. Puts a lot of time into it. Doesn’t help his commentary but at least makes for interesting viewing. Which way will he go this week? Left part, right part, or pushed back from his forehead?
