Yeah that's all very true. We have had similar luck with Danger and Hendo coming to us purely because of our geographical location. Scooter came because his brother is our captain. Smith came for opportunity. But we can't deny these finals failures will hurt our reputation and prevent us from landing players we may have got had we been more competitive when it mattered. Players move for money, but they also move to play in successful teams that are closing in on winning a flag..

To be honest i think you are reading two outliers as a broader trend re essendon which it doesn't support yet IMO. Saad is from Coburg and well known to want to live very close to his family which really means only essendon carlton or bulldogs are options, carlton don't have the picks to get it done this year and the dogs have other targets.

And Stringer many clubs have cooled on him due to the 'issues' and the young kids mean he has limited capacity to move away/interstate etc, essendon happens to be the closest geographical club.

Its more functions of convenience than any real trend re Essendon.

Can Kane Farrell play footy?

It appears so based on the stats, but I've not watched him personally. Need to check him out.

He has played two full seasons in TAC U18s, and was in the Best (votes) for nearly half of his games this year. Averages about 17 touches a game. 180cm midfielder. Looks like he has a nice left kick. Bit of an outside type. Probably similar to Ling from Falcons this year.
