Poor deal. Its biased for success toward Fogarty imo. We have not even got Higgins in yet ..lets see what that cost us. ... This is the consequence of bringing in mature players. Higgins must now play 40 games in our side for its to break even.

You think fogarty will only play 40 more games?

No bigger career kiss of death than Geelong player being traded to Carlton - my condolences Fogarty.

Giving anything more than a 4th round pick for Higgins is ridiculous....best (simplistic) comparison from an age perspective would be Ablett coming back to us, which we gave up a second round pick for......(give or take) or 5 draft spots. How does Higgins compare to Ablett?

with the reduced lists and no footy in Victoria there might only be 50 picks made in the draft this year so I also could be it coming in a little but now much

It’s a shocking deal for a contracted player taken on the fringe of the first Rd. Given we will be taking 2 max 3 picks this draft you can get the lube ready for what’s to come. Also categorically rules out Cameron to the PSD if you folllow the logic.

As I said this morning. We will have traded out all 4 of our 1st round picks + Fogerty, Cockatoo, Narkle and Constable for Cameron and Higgins and some picks 50+.

Don’t think he’d be smirking now, 2017 is now a draft failure

Kelly gave us 2 elite seasons and set us up with more picks and the chance to get Cameron I think he’s a tick for sure lol

If we trade 30 for Higgins we’ve completely lost it

We were always going to have to lose a few players given list sizes. It looks like Constable hasn't got any love and maybe moving on Fogarty gives us room for Narkle. In any case I don't love losing him. I thought he showed a bit later in the year.

You think fogarty will only play 40 more games?

LF may play less , he may play a lot more ..his age will not be a factor. Fog would not play 40 at geelong in the next two years at geelong if thing go to plan.. and probably more to the point .. how many games he played in 2021..probably determines if he gets traded in 12 months time.

So whatever he plays at Carlton is being swapped for a 40 games off a better quality from Higgins. If he gets injured or suddenly gets old then its a fail for mine. One cant say bad luck on the ijury front as that is more likely when we are talking a 33 yo

That seems like two really bad trade outcomes for the club so far. But I’ll wait until I see the overall ins and outs before making a judgement.

People two theories:
1. Wells is a good talent spotter, and the worst trade negotiator
2. we underget for fogarty, assisting essendon get more, essendon overgive for caldwell, and we underpay for cameron, ie there is change at the margin to get all deals done

and people wonder why we don't go to draft... we are not getting enough quality to push past all of them.
