Pick 30 + Fog doesn't get us closer to a flag next year than Higgins. Higgins had a year very similar in quality to Guthrie/Duncan. He is still a jet. We are all in for a flag. Higgins helps a bunch.

Yeah I’m dirty we lost Fogarty coz I really rate him, but I’m not silly, next when we’re winning games it will be in the rear view mirror. Can’t wait.

Chapman was pick 84, Johnson was a future 5th round selection. Higgins is potentially 38+Fogarty - either we really underrate our past legends, or we ridiculously overrate other club's near retirees.

Usually when trading in established players the best you can hope for is the same perfomance they have been providing for the previous club

I haven’t watched NM in years so I can’t be an accurate judge on what Higgins has been providing...at 33 I don’t hold out much hope for him in the next few years.

Haha yeah all good. He’s a classy finisher, he really should compliment our team well.

22 year old for a 33 year old. Fogarty’s best years are ahead whereas Higgins are behind. It’s a one year shot at a cup deal. We have given up on developing young players. Cup or disaster- no excuses!

Agree... People need to have a look at Higgins' stats for last season... They were very similar to Guthrie/Duncan/Menegola and co. He just played for a trash side. Higgins is and will be a weapon for us, same as Isaak Smith. Chuck Cameron in the forward line with Danger and Hawk, and we will be flyin'. Higgins/Smith will allow Danger to play forward more, without losing out too much in the middle.

He's a class act, always has been and will fill Gazza's role nicely.

I ask one simple question. We have lost Fogarty and Cockatoo and gained Smith and Higgins. Purely from a quality point of view, forget their ages, is our list better as a result? It's an overwhelming yes. And that is key.

Main thing that irks me is he was a FA last year. If he really wanted to come home/success he'd have done it then. What's done is done though I guess, just play good football now please.

Yes as long as we all know it’s for the 2021 flag. Cat fans can’t go making excuses now and be happy with a top 4 finish , prelim loss or a competitive Grand Final loss- that doesn’t cut it now!

My point is we won’t win a flag let’s recruit some kids instead for the long term

I'd say 2 years but **** knows how we'll look after that.

In an ideal world we give plenty of young players games by managing our various senior players. But plenty of guys well into their 30s have had good finals series before. Ablett was excellent as a 36 year old until he broke his shoulder.

He also struggled last year and had a month of footy this year leading up to the finals
