Also heard Harry is undecided on going around again, surely the club taps him on the shoulder and says you're done.

Been thinking about this a bit.

With Cameron in the forward line for Rohan and no Harry then it leaves us in a precarious ruck position. There's only a couple of ways it can go

If DEK is ready to take the second tall then he's an obvious in, but it's a big risk. If he starts getting monstered by gorilla forwards and it hits his confidence we could see his progress take a hit.

If DEK isn't ready then plan B would be maybe Kreuger. Unclear if they see him as a defender though.

Plan C and the one the MC would hate most of all would be Blitz to FB. He's obviously great in the position but with him in the backline they can't rest Stanley forward. Stanley can't chase stoppages for 100% game time so they need Sav chopping out.

If it's plan c then suddenly they have a very attacking tall forward line with not much ground level pressure. I can see us going back to the Menzel days with some spectacular goals kicked but then getting burned hard the other way if it goes to ground.

The coaching group has been working on applying pressure forwards as a tactic since delisting Menzel. Parfitt, Fogarty, Atkins all drafted for the role originally then Dahlhaus and Rohan after that. It took 3 years to turn that strategy into a reality.

If we end up in a position with Blitz at full back and 3 talls forward our whole defensive system so need an overhaul and overhauls aren't usually fixed in one preseason. I could see them offering him a year on the principle that they try DEK and Kreuger then if it doesn't work out they may only need Harry for a dozen or so games. Anything to keep Blitz in the midfield

I'd prefer not to.

Rebounding defenders need better decision making and disposal than he has presented. Stewart, Tuohy, Clark are all far better at this role

Yeah I was assuming that Kreuger was down back as a learning opportunity. I did list that one as a plan B. I think the wider point is that we need to avoid plan c

I think it’s time for Taylor to def retire. Henderson on this years form deserves a further year. We need to probably trial a few options to replace Taylor - Dek, Kreuger or even Henry.

We don't over-pay period, but we certainly don't over-pay on potential.

Kreuger has a feel of Todd Grima about him. Sure hope I'm wrong but one of those forwards who was highly touted as being a future player but amounted to very little.
Based on what De Koning did already in scratch matches, his development looks like it will be a no brainer and only a matter of time before he's a regular in starting 22.
His brother certainly looks like a star on the rise.

You're likely a real nice guy year of the cat and probably someone no one here would have any problems with a pre-game beer and chat but I genuinely agree with very little list management wise with you.

Sports tonight was talking about Higgins coming tonight, and Gerad Healy and the other news guy who also goes on footy classifieds. Gerad Healy said im not so sure if Higgins will be going to Geelong yet....
Other guy was Sam MClure, Sam said when you say things like this Gerad you are normally always rite... so there is a glimmer of hope Higgins MAY not come

Was told today hes coming .

I thought that Jake's first game this season, against the Demons, was one of his best and he ultimately played as more of a key defender than we normally get to see from him; Taylor was managed for that match & Stewart went off at like quarter time with the broken collarbone. I think it was one of the best games this season from both Kolodjashnij & Blicavs as they actually played as KPD and both seemed really comfortable in that role

Thanks for the reminder about this - maybe with Harry gone we'll see better returns from Kolo as he's given more responsibility? Seems to play better when he's one of the senior KPDs

Yep, doesn't seem like the coaches want him in the backline anymore which really presents a problem because where else does he play? In reality what we could do is forget Higgins and play Tuohy in the Ablett position, he is a very nice kick of the ball and a good mark.

Why not as a fwd pocket pressure forward?

No good beating your man if you're going to kick it to his mate right afterwards, I think is the issue people have.

I think Kolo gets thrown under the bus by the gameplan a bit though. He needs to take the less dynamic forwards (Riewoldt etc) and is to be absolutely BANNED from short kicks sideways. Maybe even short kicks at all.

I do not particularly want to give up Clark..he has speed and can kick well..I see some raising Witherden and others raising Pittard (great another guy near 30)

So I have assumed that the high end pick swap ... was their R1(curently10) for our last R1(currently18). ( Id say that is way unders but its the articles theoretical not mine)
The confusion is the 10 mentioned in the article is the compo pick that GWS get after their 8..which they do not even have anymore. They will get 9 for williams , and 10 for Cameron.
Freos pick will get pushed back ..the numbers do become quite difficult to keep hold of. Freo's 10 will become 12, 13 or 14 .. and out last R1 will become 22,23,24.
