They were expecting the contract value and length to get them pick 2, when they found out they were getting band 2 aka pick 23 they said we will be matching which they should have but didnt in the end, the excuse was that they didnt want him for 5 more years.

IMO a pick in the mid to late teens is what I thought was a fair deal.

In all honesty I could see it coming a mile away, after all his issues this year, bad form and injuries the writing has been on the wall, i personally wont miss him and thats nothing against the guy because he has been an absolute champion.

Don't think GWS really give a sh*t about what's being offered, or who's offering it

Tom Browne reported the following on the news tonight

- GWS are yet to talk to Geelong
- GWS have no interest in engaging in trade discussions with Geelong
- GWS want to retain Cameron's services and believe they can get him to stay


Cameron's manager has publically stated that Cameron wants to play for Geelong -
"He makes no excuses for the year he had and he's really determined to put that behind him and have a fresh start at Geelong."

It's not that Cameron just wants to return to Victoria, but that he wants to come to Geelong, and right now the only hold up to that is GWS's childish behaviour. Unless Cameron or he's manger state that he's had a change of mind & wants to stay, it won't take long for the AFL & AFLPA to get involved GWS refuse to even engage in trade discussions

There's been a lot of smoke around GWS not talking to Geelong - now where starting to see the fire causing the smoke

I think it was technically band 3. Would have been a pick in the high 30s if they won the premiership

SA media is relentless when they find positive crows stories. The realities of football will never match the expectations the media set for them and so even a minor sight to them feels like being massively cheated

They thought they had more interest in him than just St kilda. It backfired and they wanted him gone. Take the 23 and move on and try and fix the toxic culture they have.

On a draft related tangent..

Do people think that other clubs - particularly interstate clubs - are somewhat wary of drafting players out of Geelong?

Could work strongly in our favour in upcoming drafts if some of these players drop a little further than expected.
