WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

We haven't got Cameron yet? And no I don't think those three will propel us to beat Richmond. You would think that Brisbane will improve again, tigers to stay the same, port to improve again.

My thoughts with higgins, will he play mainly on ball, and danger up fwd? Smith played about half a year this year, why bring him in?

If we keep narkle, we will only have 3 players in the 23-26 age gap, that's the key age bracket to have your core players, that will give you a 5 year run at the top.
Look at 2007 for example, list of 23-26 year Olds Ablett, Bartel, Kelly, hunt, Johnson, Chapman, ling, Enright, Corey, stokes, rhooke, brynes, Mackie that's the majority of the side.

Next year we'll have between 8 and 11 players on the list that are in the 23 -26 age gap

- Kolodjashnij, Atkins, O'Connor, Parfitt, Simpson (going with him re-signing), Ratugolea, Close & Henry

- Narkle, Zach Guthrie & Okunbor signings are dependent on list sizes, but are also in that aged bracket

Why are Stk interested in Frawley ? Who will they be removing...
Especially as they've re-signed Carlisle - if he was gone then could maybe understand, but seems a weird move

Granted. But its not a fantasy side... part of the reason I felt we were better this year ..was there was hardly any disruptive inclusion. It will take time and games etc for it sync... and against the bets clubs its this lack of playing to gether that seems to show up. If Steven plays in 2021 I'd expect him to be better ..at time this year he looked like he was constantly trying too hard.
It only takes something unexpected and the whole thing turns to sand... so I will wait before I say we will be better. I will say we better be better or we have sold our future cheap.
Thats true, nothing is ever guaranteed. Eagles theoretically should have improved with Kelly and yet no dice. I just believe we were so close without the aforementioned 3 AND losing Kelly, even if we got none of them I'd still be excited about our prospects next year.

We overcame a major mental hurdle this year regarding our finals demons. And a number of games throughout the year i felt we showed the character of a premiership side to win when things weren't going our way.

Regarding the future, let's see how things pan out with our picks. There is no guarantee with those either, especially not this year. Fogarty and Cockatoo wouldn't make a difference in the next 3 years regardless.

has Carlisle re-signed ?
I thought I heard he had signed, but can only find that he's been offered a new deal -

St Kilda is also hopeful that small forward Jack Lonie and key defender Jake Carlisle will sign short-term contract extensions that have been tabled by the club, while fellow defender Ben Paton is expected to recommit in the coming days. - Riley Beveridge

That's from late October, so unless something's changed since then and why the club is now chasing Frawley

Id think Carlisle would be on a lot more than a un-retired Frawley

Thats right Im not sure it will.

I will wait to see how it all comes together. Most would say our weakest link is ruck..we have not altered that. We have a questionable backline till we see how it works without Harry. When we let Rich get 22 points in front and we then cream them by 30 to 40 points ..i will get excited and more hopeful.

Turbocat, I disagree about the importance of Harry in our backline as I would have much preferred for sometime of Blicavs being our Harris Andrews but because we've continued to play too many backline players in our side, along with the added option of Blicavs versatility, while also notwithstanding our ruck weaknesses due to injury or form (of which you mentioned), we've been unable for Blicavs to play this role on a full time bases. It is my wish for next season that we send Blicavs back to full back and play a similar role to that of Harris Andrews but it 'must be' on a permanent basis and in doing so, have our backline revolve around him similar to what Harris Andrews does so superbly for the Lions.

I don't think 30 is much for this trade period.. That pick will blow out a bit.

Only have to read the Kanga's board to get a fix on Shaun Higgins talent and reputation, we are getting a fantastic footballer for P30.
At least two strong years ahead and rejuvenated by the change, he's a big boost for us setting up a big year ahead.

I agree with most of this expect Harris Andrews is a better mark & kick than Blicavs.

The organisation that Harry brought to the team is intangible. Few players down there that would need quite a bit of instruction one feels.
