Have to remember too that 450k living in Sydney isn't that great, cost of living up their is mental, another reason Simpson probably said GAGF!!!

I struggle with the reality of this. Does every single person living in syd need 100,000 a year to live? I cant believe that the average wage inSyd is much different to that in Melb etc. Where you choose to live can be cheap or expensive ... no different to Geelong.

I struggle with the reality of this. Does every single person living in syd need 100,000 a year to live? I cant believe that the average wage inSyd is much different to that in Melb etc. Where you choose to live can be cheap or expensive ... no different to Geelong.

True. Probably more of a thing 15-20 years ago especially rent, house prices etc. Not so much now.

This is true but your aren't going to find AFL players living in Blacktown. There are other factors involved, this is why they had COLA originally.

Just can’t give all 3 first round picks for Cameron. That’s crazy for a 28 year old that might only have 3 good years in him. Do a trade with essendon for picks and Go to the draft if GWS want that.

I find it quite ironic that we have had clubs and managers saying that deals and contracts have been so difficult to complete this year in the trade period due to not knowing the list sizes and it's been confirmed on the final day of the trade period.

GWS offered Simpson 450k a year and he said no. Will re-sign at Geelong for much less.

Last day of trading and they tell everyone what the list sizes is....Good stuff AFL.

37 is the magic number.

I generally don't pay any attention to this sort of thing - in layman's terms, what is the net effect of the change in list sizes? I.e. how many fewer players will be on our list?

So it seems likely Fort will get another contract. And we will go into next year with only Stanley and Fort as full time rucks. And Esava and Blicavs as potential backups. It’s a bit risky if anything happens to Stanley and I don’t think he’s ever played a full season.
I really hope we draft and develop a ruck so we’ve got some more options in the future.

You will not find many afl players living in whittington... they should not get cola based on players choice... or geelong could say we need becuase the prices in Torquay or Apollo Bay or Angelsea a more expensive etc.

Basically its a con..I could living with cola as maybe an extra amount for each player under 150,000 ( which is getting close to a stupid number). but they did not use cola like that... they put it all into one or two players and left the bottom players on min chips eating baked beans ..

Houses are expensive, but plenty of cheap food at aldi, plenty of good cheap fruit and veg at shops in a shopping centre where there is good competition. Petrol is also cheap.
You just need to not go grocery shopping in the eastern suburbs.

I can support a return to COLA, though not with it being in the hands of the clubs but rather controlled via the AFL

Rather see it used for draftees & rookies (like genuine rookies, compared with previous senior players picked up on the rookie list: Mumford, Henderson etc). Those guys who are starting out and where the extra assistance could actually be of real help, and especially those who have had to move interstate

House are expensive every where ..it depends on where you are. In Geelong try getting a house in the area around KP in Newtown for less than 1m.. it would need a lot of work. I have no knowledge of Syd etc ..for sure..but I do not believe that the average wage is so much higher than everywhere else.. thats says it not much different.
