Paid overs for Cameron and Higgins. Sold the farm.

got unders for Fogarty

fair deal for Cockatoo

reality check for Constable

not surprised if Narkle is delisted
Higgins deal will depend on how much of his salary North is paying - minimal hit to our salary cap for a best 22 player & pick 30 isn't the worse deal

Don't forget they originally wanted a first round pick but accepted pick 30

Which is half the trade.. BIG WIN WELL DONE GIANTS . BEAT THOSE PUSSY'S ... etc etc..

then sometime in the future they will sit down and look at the total trade.. probably those who are more draft focused and they will wonder how come geelong have such a good hand again.

If we happen to lose a player or two next year... Menegola is a FA. then it opens up a range of possabilities
Yeah I think we’ve done very well and have taken into consideration the strengths of next years draft. I wasn’t keen on Higgins but he’ll be good next year at least. Smith and Cameron are massive ins. And overall I’m not concerned about the draft picks that have come out. I also don’t agree with those that talk down our youth. We had a good amount of young players in the team this year. And have some others developing, it also speaks to the culture that good players didn’t want to leave.
Im not sure how fans or the media can be anything but positive about geelong. Made the grand final, recruited really well and have players developing across most positions except ruck.

The second future R2 could be tied to Port what they handed ESS as part of the Fantasia trade.
I think it states, GWS 2nd & the 2nd ess gave for Caldwell

In a complex deal, the Cats sent picks No.13, 15 and 20 and a future fourth-round selection to the Giants in exchange for Cameron, the Giants' future second-round selection and a future second-round selection tied to Essendon from the earlier Jye Caldwell deal.

Realistically the Higgins for 37 and Fogarty is the one that I think we really lost trade wise (this will change if it turns out North are paying some of Higgins wage), especially when you consider North basically gave Brown away for pick 33.

In the end our strong draft hand come back to bite us, I'm really not sure in any other year if we had pick 20 that GWS would have turned down pick 11 and matched for 20 and a 2021 1st that hopefully would be about 18-20 again. Then again maybe they would have asked for 20,34 and 2021 first.

I do hope moving forward that other clubs start matching bids and forcing trades and suffer the same fate we have twice now (technically 1), GWS played a lot harder than the Crows and might have just set a new precedent for trade negotiations with RFA's.

Port gave a future 3rd, not a future 2nd - seems some confusion be around

I don't think either team won, we both lost, we've given up three first round picks for a 28 year old key fwd. It would be like back in 95 we traded to bring in plugger, even though we had Gazza, Billy and Stoneham.

Giants give up their marquee player, and don't get a top 10 pick in, there's a lot of guess work in after the top 10, picks 13, 15 & 20 could equate to nothing. Then there's the go home factor after 2 years they have to deal with.

Why have you chosen to eliminate the part where we got pick 51 as part of the deal. We got Higgins for Fogarty and a 14 pick downgrade. And Wells will tell us the bloke he drafts at pick 51 he would have selected at pick 37 anyway, so in effect we got Higgins for Fogarty.

Ok so overall we did...

In: Jeremy Cameron, Shaun Higgins, Isaac Smith, Pick 51, Essendon's 2021 2nd Round, GWS' 2021 2nd round, Melbourne's 2021 3rd round

Out: Pick 13, Pick 15, Pick 20, Pick 38, Geelong's 2021 Fourth Round, Lachlan Fogarty, Nakia Cockatoo

I'd say that's a big, big win. That whole bag of goodies cost us pick equivalent of pick 9 and thats before forgetting the other picks will get devalued and pick 51 will come in a fair bit imo. It also doesn't factor in that 2021 draft is far stronger. Great haul by Wells.

2 r2s next year are worth more than 20 this year. Plus it allows us flexibility with live trading. Great deal.

On Scott now...

On Scott now...
Yeah probably would have shipped him off for a fourth to Collingwood.

Might be an ideal replacement for Buckley in all seriousness. I think Collingwood could be looking at the end of 2021 when Scott is out of contract. Is the type of high profile person they would try get also. Could be a win-win.
