FWIW, out of the 7 phantoms I looked at, Long only appears in one of them.

My concern with Knevitt and Long is their listed 'weaknesses' are kicking. I don't like MIDs that can't kick.

I’m not sure they are so much weaknesses as not strengths if that makes sense. Compared to someone like Taylor who never misses a target.

With Tomohawk and Gaz Rohan the wrong side of 30, some marking forward stocks wouldn't be a terrible thing to look at. Especially after delisting Ben Jarvis.

  Based on the write up: A hard-working lead-up half forward or wingman. Just my POV, I think we need to look at the best available pure mid with our first two picks, unless something outstanding presents itself.

Pick 50 will be about pick 45 after all the Bulldog and Pies picks are used up for FS’s. We will still need a 5th pick at this stage from my POV so I don’t know if its worth trading up from end of R2 to mid R2 and losing pick 45. I would prefer to do it with a future 3rd.

Seems to be, but 4 picks has been put forward a few times. Is it possible this year to move contracted players from the senior to rookie list to allow us to take a couple of DFAs, and making room for 4 or 5 draft picks? There was something like that last year due to list number restrictions and salary restrictions.

Assume we might be doing that with Constable, but there are a lot of bloody good footballers being delisted this year. Luke Dunstan got picked up, but plenty won’t, or as you said may get a crack on a clubs rookie list.

Both the best touted ruck in this draft and a Geelong Falcons boy. Would be hitting his prime just as Stanley would be looking to retire.

I would be shocked if you could move contracted players to the rookie list.

He (Constable) is not contacted but yes teams do it. There is no restrictions on what you can pay rookies, there might have to be some type of caveat to it like a LTI or mental health exceptions…

Stanley isn't playing another 6 years of football.

It’s inevitable that this will happen so I think we have to embrace it, factor it into our draft planning as we may lose a lot of players when they come in, it will be challenging but I’m looking forward to the derby’s and may even jump ship and support that mob- depending on what part of Geelong they target

It will also mean that Geelong will build a new 60,000 seat stadium along the highway between Footscaryland and Geelong- three clubs will use it for their big matches in dishlickers and the the two Geelong teams

Let’s not kid ourselves we all see the urban development as we travel from Kardinia to the MCG- and that’s not even mentioning the huge population booms in the west of Melbourne

Let’s just get in with it- Go roosters!

Good question. I dont think conway has the athletic scope to become in the top 5 rucks in the game (ie doesnt have a jackson type ceiling) but i can see him becoming a very solid middle tier ruck like nankervis as his tap and follow up work are very good and hes a high character kid who will do everything possible to make it. It depends on our strategy-ceglar and stanley probably only have 2 years left so if we arent sure neale will be ready to take over in 2024 then we either have to draft another ruck now so they are ready for 2024 or trade one in in 2023. This draft is thin for rucks so someone who needs one might take conway before our picks anyway but if hes available we might consider him.

If you want someone who can open games up by foot chesser or taylor would be good targets as would brown. I wouldnt call knevitt a poor kick though just not as laser like as those guys. Long has missed a lot of footy and i like his scope for improvement i see a big ceiling in him although i agree we need kicking skills as a team.

Only an extra 112 points for the Pies. I don't really know how many extra points these clubs want, but I think anything around or under 100 points seems like it won't make much of a difference to them.

I really like the sound of Taylor, would love to see some more footage of him though.
