Don't have the list spots to do it, so can't see it happening IMO. We're already stretched as it is, without adding another pick into the mix.

Not to mention that I'm sure the club would be well aware that we're on a downwards trajectory, so trading a Future 1st could be a disaster if we missed finals, and we gave up a Top 10 pick the following year.

Agree with all points, and to add, most other clubs will treat a trade of our future first offer as being a late first, e.g. pick 18. It wouldn't get us inside the first round this year, and given we already have pick 22, if a player slides we'd just take them with that pick. If another player slides past that pick, then trading our future first would be giving up too much. Just won't happen.

Looks good, but I’m a bit more wary of drafting Tassie boys than those from other states. There are a few exemptions, but on the whole not great reading here…

Yep not many good players drafted from Tassie these days compared to 90s/00s and pre draft era. Plus if they do turn out any good now and Tassie get a team AFL would do everything possible to steal them for the new team.

Not necessarily. If it was a material consideration in his decision he could wait right up until the Henderson position was clear.

I’ll go with the answer staring us in the face: Pies offered him more money, an extra year and the option of playing in his preferred position. When you view it like that it’s not hard to see why he jumped.
Plus when you aren’t in one team’s starting 22 and the other offered you a spot in theirs from the end of 2020, that matters too.

Kreuger won't hurt us. Yes, he has great athleticism for his size, but he seemed a very dumb footballer. I personally don't think he'll reach 50 games.

Yep, it doesn't seem consistent with what Wells has said, nor with our list needs. I think we'd only really take Alleer out of that lot, maybe Sheldrick but he can't kick.
Is Sheldrick the lad who towelled up the number 1 pick when they went head to head earlier this year?

The more I get to know the players in this year’s draft (those especially predicted within the first 2 rounds), the more likely I see us trading our future 1st to get someone who we really rate and sliding on draft night. Bookmark this in
Who with? Would Brisbane give up 14 or 18.
Essendon might swap 13 for 24 and our 2022r1, but that is a deal we wouldn't do I would hope.

Man, knightmare has basically all the recognised decent mids give by our pick. That sounds not great

I think he's got a lot of this wrong, tbh. Completely different to most others, and has some baffling calls like GC choosing Andrew at their first pick, GWS picking Gibcus at their first and Adelaide picking Rachele at their first (while Callaghan is still on the board), Callaghan sliding all the way to the Hawks, and Richmond picking Ward over Hobbs. Not to mention Daicos being bid on by GWS first, even though GWS have said that they would bid on Darcy first due to list needs.

... that's just in the first 10 picks. Love what he does, but not his finest effort.

EDIT: Not to mention, as others have pointed out, that he has us only taking one mid - when Wells himself has stated that we would be heavily mid focused this draft. Not a lot of it makes sense for us or a lot of other clubs - and Knevitt being taken over Draper by Port just solidifies that thought process IMO.

I don't think he would get any insights from list managers like Cal Twomey does.

There's still a lot of consensus opinion though, to the point where you can be pretty sure where most of the the top 10 will go most years (Cal is especially accurate with this given his inside intel). To completely shift away from that and speculate so much as he has, seems wildly out of character for someone as knowledgeable as Knightmare is

I think Knightmare is off the mark. We won't take Conway but we will take mids - 2 at least I would suggest - and I'm tipping we'll try for defenders with dash and sound skills, in order to revitalise our stodgy defence. Any of the medium defenders listed by Sheahan would be good gets.

We'll only take Conway if most of the good talent is off the board, Neale has given some indication he might leave, and it's at one of our picks in the 30's. No chance we take him at our Pick 22 (24)

Twomey wouldn't either. List managers wouldn't give anything away. Especially in this draft.

Might even go the other way, giving away smokescreen info to lead other teams away from who they want.
That makes me think I won't get drafted Afterall. ☹️

My favourite draft moment around here is when we picked up Linc Mccarthy and the listed image was an indigenous forward with a wicked moustache. Then someone sourced a pic of the right bloke and he looked like he only had one functioning leg. Expecting more of the same. :grinv1:

Hey? Matthew Roberts, Zac Taylor, and Campbell Chesser are in most Phantom's top 20s and KM has them all available at our first pick.
I haven't watched any underage football live - which is why I can't offer much insight this year - but watching some highlights of Taylor I like what I see. He's the type of player I could see us drafting.
