He frustrated me early but I admire him now. He's learnt to work his ass off defensively on a wing. It's more that his strengths and weaknesses mirrora lot of others in that he's got a great tank but is slow off the mark and around the contest he gets lost defensively because he's very much a see ball get ball player.

I'm not really advocating trading him just that he's about the only person of value who has some value and might be replaceable mainly because his best role (wing) is where we have good depth. I wouldn't trade him for pick 20ish alone. But if we really rate Clark and trading Menegola gives Clark the sign that he's going to get opportunity then I'd probably do it. There's a lot of ifs there though.

We are not going to trade him and if we had let him and guthrie go as FAs we probably only would have got late compo picks like sydney just did for hewett. They are worth more to us than what that pick would give us which is why we kept them.

Trades for first rounders generally involve players in 24-27 age bracket and we dont have anyone in that range of enough quality to get us a R1 pick. The over 30s wouldnt get one due to age. So we dont have the option to do what people want us to do. We just need to draft well and target the right free agents when we can.

What are people thoughts on Krueger and being walked to the preseason draft given Collingwood need points for Daicos…

Do you think Krueger believes Geelong have supported him and would want us to get compensated or at this stage would do anything to further his career and land at Collingwood.

I would u understand the above but Geelong took him from nowhere and he was injured all of this year and then played - his GWS game wasn’t getting many blokes a finals gig…

I'd like to think Collingwood would do the right thing and offer a FR3 or 4 for him at least.

If coll get 22 from the suns as rumoured (for future 2nd) it would be good to offer kreuger 30 and 55 for a future 3rd or 4th (whatever they end up left with). No points hit to them but would give us a pick near the back of the first round.

Ceglar has been told to explore his options by the Hawks, you just know we will come up in conversation, id pass, he is 30, contracted and we need a young ruck.
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

The thing the fills me with confidence we get a deal done is Collingwood and Geelong are already in discussions and haven’t even spoke to the dogs about Lipinski.
Some bad blood over the Treloar deal also makes us out better.

Just announced that GC are doing a deal with Collingwood to get them extra points. Only player they'll go the PSD route is Lipinski - as there is some serious bad blood there after the shenanigans the Dogs pulled with Treloar.

My money is on some form of pick upgrade. Say like the GC Pick 22 for the 27 we get from Freo and Kreuger. 5 spot upgrade would be a decent return, as a late throwaway pick is worth less than nothing to us in a 55 player draft.

Also doesn't hurt, when it comes to us getting a decent deal, that Scooter is their midfield coach too...

I guess we are going to hear about Menegola trade speculation until he hangs up the boots. Just a player plenty of people don’t like.

That's probably because he's a front runner and only really seems to play his best footy when Geelong is on top.

Plenty of sides have them. Gets on the end of a lot of footy when we dominate but based on his finals record alone (and some other big games which I won't rattle off) he's the type of player that we could still survive ok without.

Just the harsh reality.

Kreuger has the right to walk to a club that basically guarantees him AFL football, in his favoured position in the forward line. We haven't played him in our best 22, and he isn't getting in ahead of Cameron and Hawkins.

Unless they are Chris Judd level, players have no say whatsoever in the trade value that they hold. Kreuger doesn't have half the AFL lining up for his services, he cannot exactly say "give Geelong this or I won't go!". He would be laughed out of the room and rightly so.

Kreuger is 22 and needs AFL games under his belt. It's great that someone drafted him, but he needs to focus on his own future because if he spends most of next year in the VFL, his professional football career is as dead as a dodo.

We needed Big Boy when he left the saints, now this has been. Hard pass. Lewis Young would be a marginally better prospect.

I disagree with that but the more important reality is GC cant afford menegola and he wouldnt agree to go there anyway. Why do people keep proposing trades for him that clearly wont happen.

Dear Matthew Lloyd,

Shut up about Cats and Ceglar.

Regards,
Geelong Fans.

Can we also point out this fun quote.

"I was shocked Quinton Narkle signed a one-year deal, I would have been taking a three-year deal somewhere else with the lack of want to play him. I'm really, really concerned about Geelong."

THATS BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WANTED HIM MATTHEW
HE CAN SIGN A 3 YEAR DEAL BUT IT WOULD BE WITH THE NORTHERN BULLANTS

We dont even need freo. Send 30 and 55 with kreuger (same points to coll as 27 would have been) for 22. 22 and 34 might then get us a pick in the 12-17 range if we want and can find a buyer.

Not if Collingwood sign him for 4 years like reported

You won't get Tucker as a delisted free agent. He is already being talked about as part of the Clark trade. Tucker is a very good player when he's had a decent run with injury.

Tucker is worth pick 65

Contracted Clark worth pick 18-20.

Any trade involving tucker will be based around a pick 18-20 with tucker inconsequential steal knives.

I personally do not want tucker. I’m shocked to see us linked with a 24 year old who would be behind our youth in the pecking order for our 22. He wouldn’t be close to best 22 for the cats, it makes little to zero sense.

Then no trade happens if Geelong want way more.. Highly likely that will be the case. Tucker's way better than you give him credit for and Geelong has already shown interest in trading for him. Bookmark it. Pick 25 ish will be the best case scenario for Geelong in this trade. Fremantle might end up with Carlton's second rounder that would be pick 25 if Tucker's involved then even less than that. Pick 27 and Tucker with a future pick swap in our favour will also get the deal done in my opinion. So no hard feelings bookmark my post and we'll see who ends up correct during trade week.

Lol

When he played onball in 2020 Tucker was second in our team for clearance until getting injured. He's also played as a defensive wingman. Last year he was injured the entire preseason and the early rounds. He is way better than what he showed in 2021.

Your used car salesman tactics are not going to work here.

Do not want.

Mate it is silly season so if anyone wants to try and pick a swap for players or picks that should be ok....You are trying and will never be right with everything..and others not just you

why would another team agree to that swap? Points or something?
No chance of happening in this draft, sides will get points by flicking futures for current picks, not sliding down in a vastly compromised draft pool due to lack of match play.
