No way. Reputation means a lot.

We are a destination for FA's because we treat players right. Start turfing best 22 players as soon as they become 'expendable' just to grab a pick for a draftee that could be a bust and that goes out the window.

We were a destination club because of finals and a flag tilt. The worm has turned now.

I disagree with that but the more important reality is GC cant afford menegola and he wouldnt agree to go there anyway. Why do people keep proposing trades for him that clearly wont happen.

Not sure you can categorically say, and with any degree of knowledge, that Menegola would never be traded. I've not said he'll be traded, but am making the point that if Geelong are serious about positioning higher up in this years draft then there's probably only 6-8 players on our list who are "untouchable".

And there's absolutely no way on earth that Menegola is on that list. Rohan is the only bloke on our list with a worse record in finals.

Lewis Young plays his best football as a KPD/intercepting backman but Bevo put him in the ruck. Him going to Carlton shouldn't impact De Koning at all - I'd suspect he's an eventual replacement for Liam Jones.

Are you telling me that if club 'X' came along and offered a pick in the 15-20 range we wouldn't take it? Menegola is dispensable and he won't be playing in our next premiership. It's either a list refresh or we all need to gear up for some long hard winters ahead in a few years time because we wouldn't make hard decisions now.

There's actually 3-4 blokes in our best 22 who I would offer up to clubs this year - while they still have some trade value. It's a business, and sometimes tough decisions need to be made - and with a clear focus for what things look like in 3-4 years time. Some of these players have been loyal servants, but loyalty cuts both ways. They've been well paid - and they've had a shot at success. But in 3-4 years time (if we don't get it right now) I don't think we'll be sitting around having warm and fuzzy emotional reflections on the likes of Menegola and a few others - certainly not if we're at the bottom of the heap. Don't for one minute think that players commitment levels don't ebb ..... and they take the money and play out time on a lucrative contract.

Yes i am telling you no club would offer that much (either a pick inside 20 or enough salary to make him want to go to begin with) for a player that age who isnt a KPP and if they did (unless it was a destination like melbourne) menegola wouldnt agree to go and he has to agree to the trade. From the list management perspective i dont disagree with your proposal but players here have more power in the NBA so you have to be realistic about what you can get done as a trade. And whether the assets gained from the trade would even be better than what you lose.

Young is going there as a kpd (jones is old) as young is an awful ruck. TDK is still their no1 ruck.
