I actually said you wouldn't accept 27. I suggested 27 and Tucker and said that 25 would get the deal done. Plus it's the first day of trading. Every team rejects the first offer every time.
Im sure you’ll back-peddle again when Tucker re signs …after all you are never wrong

It’s not the age that is of concern for me would be happy to get a very good ruck who is 30. The problem with Ceglar is he’s no good. If we get a ruck in they need to be obvious number 1 ruck like we tried with Goldstein or young enough they can develop into that role.

This is something I wish would come up in the media.
If Sel, Hawkins, Higgins, Smith not to mention Dal, all retire in the next 2 years then that’s a lot of cash per season off our books.

Massive money
few million I would think gives a little room to wriggle

8 hours ago Tucker was coming to us and it could be part of the Clark trade after asking Freo for more than Pick 27.

Nek minnit, Tucker will re-sign and we're asking for Pick 8.

Anyone that actually takes all these trade 'whispers' for any more than what it is - a 2 week soap opera - probably shouldn't operate heavy machinery

I'm not at all surprised we are asking for Pick 8. We are not stupid. If Freo want a contracted player they must pay overs, otherwise we keep him. Simple.
Is your avatar Mitch Duncan? Looks like a Bay City Roller

We dont even need freo. Send 30 and 55 with kreuger (same points to coll as 27 would have been) for 22. 22 and 34 might then get us a pick in the 12-17 range if we want and can find a buyer.
Agree it would be nice - and there are various other options, were we to get something dropping from the plate of the Cerra deal - but everyone in the comp will be chasing that 22, knowing the Pies would prefer points; only way it gets to us is if they are really, really keen on Kreuger

At this rate pick 27 could stay at 27.

Yeah ok, lunacy.
I pretty much got told the same thing by West Coast supporters in regard to my Kelly suggestion that ended up being slightly less than what West Coast traded. The pick 27 actually won't slip past 29. In all likelihood the Bulldogs keep one pick before 27 as part of the Darcy trade as they don't have a lot of list spots vacant.

Tucker is way better than you give him credit for. Not really phased if you disagree or not. Im pretty much never wrong on this stuff. We will wait and see. Bookmark my post and tell me if it turns out the pick is before 25.

It’s fazed not phased. You keep saying phased and it’s really fazed me.

If Clarke wants to go then surely a trade will be done this trade period. Kelly was a bit different, he was only 1 year into a contract, was best 22 and a key part of our 2019 flag chances which meant he was worth hanging onto even if we knew it would only be for 12 more months. We have the oldest list, is it really in our best interest to keep a kid here who wants to go home and chew up a list spot just to ask to be traded in 12 months time uncontracted?

It’s not the age that is of concern for me would be happy to get a very good ruck who is 30. The problem with Ceglar is he’s no good. If we get a ruck in they need to be obvious number 1 ruck like we tried with Goldstein or young enough they can develop into that role.

Ceglar will be 31.
I do think he would be a decent upgrade over Stanley as he averages over 20 hit-outs per game for starters, but what exactly is the point?
We aren't getting close to a flag next year. Why not stop with all this recruitment of old hacks and just entrust in the young bucks who could amount to something a little more than what we witnessed from Stanley or Ceglar.

Just announced that GC are doing a deal with Collingwood to get them extra points. Only player they'll go the PSD route is Lipinski - as there is some serious bad blood there after the shenanigans the Dogs pulled with Treloar.

My money is on some form of pick upgrade. Say like the GC Pick 22 for the 27 we get from Freo and Kreuger. 5 spot upgrade would be a decent return, as a late throwaway pick is worth less than nothing to us in a 55 player draft.

Also doesn't hurt, when it comes to us getting a decent deal, that Scooter is their midfield coach too...

Seen the news about Collingwood trading Suns for picks 22,46,58.

Which would leave them: picks 22,36,41,43,46,48,58 = 2957 points...

Now they won't need 22, so I have been playing with a three way (Geel, Coll, WBD) trade that would suit all parties... Here goes.

- To work a trade for Darcy Fort for picks 50&60 is needed.

Geel IN pick 17 (WBD), 22 (Coll) - 1937 in points
OUT Kruger, pick 30, 32, 34, (above 50&60) - 2153 in point
Coll IN Lips, Kruger, pick 34 (542 points)
OUT pick 22 (845 points)
WBD IN picks 30, 32, 50, 60 (1611 in points)
OUT pick 17 (1025 points), Lips

In all Collingwood get 2 player for a cost of 303 points, they already have enough with the GC trade.
Geelong move up the draft and can take 17,22 and 54 to the draft (plus anything we get in a future deal with Clark)
WBD Increase points to 1611 would need 1787 points to match a bid at pick 3 so only 175 points short of that...

I thinks everyone walks away happy thoughts?

Walsh imo
I agree. If we assume Selwood retires at the end of next year (pains me to write it), that's about $800k to 900k freed up. Others on less money but still quite good coin also coming to the end of their careers. We will definitely be in Walsh's ear (amongst others) about a big contract, good culture, two power forwards (I'm sure Hawkins will still be going for a couple of years). It's interesting that Walsh isn't in any rush, why would he be?

Culture is thinning out with 3 assistants leaving. Cook leaving. Scott probably will leave too within next year. It’s not as stable as it has been. And decent FA’s want to play finals.

Culture is passed on... for the next ones & the next ones that come thru to uphold.
As it has been done by those since 2007. Harley to Ling to Bartel to Chappy to Mackie to Lonergan to Selwood to Harry to Hawkins to Stewart to Blitz and so on..
It will be upheld and passed on by Blitz, Stewart, Bews, MOC, Parfitt, Henry, Close etc etc all the way down to Stephens and SDK.
One thing i do believe is that we have good quality character people within the club. Be it on field or off field.

Im not sure everyone is chasing it though..richmond are chasing either moving 7 to 4 or their later picks to 17..adel want 17 for dawson..22 is no good to either club for what they need...unless its a club purely trying to swap a current for future 2nd we may not have stacks of competition for it and we can offer coll needed points...for eg one of our 30s picks and 55..then they can trade 55 and 58 for lipinski..hopefully we can get it done with the pies as early 20s is a really good range for talent in this draft.

I dont think walsh will leave there but no doubt we will have a huge go at him next year with a big offer. Selwood i reckon is less than 900 because he took pay cuts when we wanted to bring guys in but even if you said selwood 700 dahl is on 500 higgins will be on say 200 (north paying the other part) plus rohan tuohy smith would all be possible retirements then if guys like clark and narkle go..youre probably looking at 2mil in cap space freed up all up so we will have room to target players.

Plus they are about to start playing finals for the next decade so why would he leave that and come play at a club who will not be playing finals post 2022. Carlton will offer him a godfather deal so he's certain to remain at Carlton.
