Also if Lobb does go to GWS we absolutely should be seeing if we can get Briggs out of there (i know hes a local kid and contracted) as he will really struggle to get games and he is in the age bracket for the ruck we need.

Lobb doesnt like to play ruck... but one would think someone up there would be thinking about their position. Mumford gone but Preuess to come back. If they are happy good luck to them for developing their own..but it seems rucks are the most liquid role. Almost certain that one of them ends up elsewhere.

The kid at Ess is one id keep an eye on to... it will be hard for him to jump Draper

I think the club has a Bruhn firmly in their sites - but not Tanner.

Sam Walsh is an interesting "watch" over the next 12 month's. Geelong will make a serious play - we'll have retirements cap space and list spots. Doesn't mean we'll land him but I think a lot will hinge on whether he clicks with Voss. If not, there's a view that he's gettable.

What doe she/he play in ..u17's ..Is she/he a 2022 draft? How good. ?

Another small forward who doesn't kick goals. Pass

Hated Scarlett to the point it completely destroyed his relationship with the club. Scarlett is a complete prick though and should never have been a coach.
Why? Seems Scarlett improved the defence a lot.

Just had no time for a kid who can’t defend for shit.

One would think the club internally would be able to gauge worth of players in our VFL side. They have done it before. If he is starring against others on our list ..he will be selected. If he is just a good honest toiler.. then probably not.

JACKSON McLachlan has been recognised for his standout season for the Bendigo Bank Cats at the 2021 VFL and VFLW Award ceremony on Thursday night.
McLachlan was named in the VFL Team of the Year on a half forward flank after a strong season for the Cats averaging 18 disposals, four tackles and a goal per game.
The 23-year-old made nine VFL appearances this year and was named in the best players in three games.
McLachlan’s best performance came in Geelong’s big win against Brisbane in Round 11 when he kicked 4.1 from 25 disposals and laid six tackle

While not necessarily homesickness or using homesickness as a reason, considering the talk is about a change of teams & play in his preferred position, isn't it kinda interesting that the only team he's considering is the one back home

If his main reason for changing teams was around greater opportunities to play in what he deems his preferred position, then I'd think there's more than just Fremantle that would be looking at Clark

He's been pursued by Fremantle for a few years now, so the chance to go home may be a strong lure for him, along with a 4 year deal on money that other teams may not consider stumping up for him at this stage - I highly doubt that the main reason for him moving back to his home state is just the chance to potentially play as a back flanker, especially when Fremantle seem to have been talking about him being part of their midfield unit
Meh, he has the right to want to take the opportunity to go back home while he is changing clubs.

Think we should be trying to trade up by combining two of our 30’s picks. End up with 2 picks in the early 20’s.

I tend 2 agree.
The way it stands 30 32 & 34 turn into 28 30 & 32 with 41 dropping back to 38 account another Pies pick going..
Dogs(23) & Pies(27) picks are erased for comp picks.
Even going into the draft with 19(22?), 28, 30, 32, 39 is not a bad hand.
I suspect 32-39 might be used to creep up (Dogs 23?) if we only need 4 picks.
But FWIW i'd rather get a little bolder and target Brisbane's 14 or 18 picks with 32 with next years 2nd rounder going their way.
They have 2 father sons on their radar with Ashcroft's son looking like a 15-20 pick and Adrian Fletcher's son a top 30-40 prospect.
If we are going to rebuild/rejig/refurbish or whatever you want to call it, grabbing 4 players from 14-28 or 18-28 range in 2021 will be a great start.
Nothing like having picks 14/or18, 19, 28, 30 to start the ball rolling.

Covid has caused many people from all walks of life to alter their priorities, I think many with family and friends on the opposite side of the country have done it pretty tough for the last 18 months, I'm thankful for Kelly's sake he did get out before covid struck.

There’s merit in trying to trade up but I’m not sure sacrificing future picks is in our best interests knowing that we’ll have significant list changes next year. The lure of drafting 4 quality kids this year though is very tempting.

Really hope the club don’t buckle for anything other than 19 from Freo. Dockers are in damage control after losing Cerra, and trying to retain three top 20 picks is theair boards way of saying to members “hey we lost our young gun midfielder, but we negotiated hard and have set the club with these top 20 picks”
No different to GWS trying to save face with members last year.
If it doesn’t eventuate, stay fat, Clark stays next year. As far as the rumours of him refusing to play, find that hard to believe. Contracts are binding, and Clark will find himself in a world of hurt both professionally and financially.
Longer it goes, more the chance we get the result we want. Only change to that would be if we have already negotiated with another club for pick swaps to move up.

Yeah i was in that line of thinking until i thought it would be in our benefit to have 4 20 year olds with 30 odd games in the VFL and maybe 5-10 of AFL games under their belts when the older statesmen on our list depart in 2-3 years time.
Will we get another chance to pick 4 times within the 15-28 bracket??
Sometimes these types of opportunities land in your lap and you have to say... F*#k it. Let's GO!!
Cheers

True. See what happens in the next few days. It may be that the players that Wells and Mackie like are in reach with our existing picks. I dare say, in this Covid world, clubs will be potentially more likely to draft kids from their own state for fear of losing them due to homesickness factors.

I don't think Freo are in damage control at all.
If they don't get Clark, they go to the draft with 6, 8 & 22.
With the kicker that 19 may have extra currency to trade into next years first round, or potentially slide and gain an extra 2nd round pick.
I think, try as we might, we may be forced to settle for 22 and I kind of feel like that's close to fair.
We will all be disappointed that we haven't nurtured a promising talent and that 22 feels like a speculative return.
However, it hasn't really worked out, he wants to be in freo and to force him to stay over 3 picks, it's probably not the best for either party.
Just my opinion.
