Yeah I mean better younger players are always handy but I just look at the age demographic of the midfield and think it looks older. I guess I'm not really calculating Tuohy as a defender and locking in SDK as a hendo replacement. Stewart the next oldest but probably 4ish years left in the tank?

I mean WCE have been trialling Duggan as a mid in bursts this year and i think its a position that he could excel in if he played there more.

In terms of our defence youd expect hendo and tuohy go in the next 1-2 years and then bews has another 3-4 in him. Obviously blitz is 30 and stewart isnt far off but hopefully they are good enough to play on til their mid 30s. Hopefully we can start to transition some good young defenders in as retirements occur.

If we're thinking Meek and Fort are rough equivalents though why wouldn't we just stick with Fort? He's probably got enough years in him that either Sav starts delivering or Tsapatolis and/or Neale start to deliver.

Bring in a younger guy and you also lock yourself into that younger player. Double edged sword.

Because Meek is a lot younger. I think Fort deserves more games but one of the issues is he is already 28 so even if he comes through this year hes only a medium term option not a long term one. Someone like Meek is close to a 10 year ruck age wise if you get the talent ID right.

I like the player and rate him highly but do we need a 187cm half back?

But is he just a half back? I would think he has more to offer right across the paddock. Let’s see if it pans out. But IMO would be an excellent get.

A bloke in a pub i frequent when i'm down Warrnambool way tells me this.
Liam Duggan will be in the hoops next year.
Usually on the money with Football stuff.
Take it as you will...

OOC... and wanted to come back last year ( i think that was mentioned ) . What the cost would be not sure. A FA at the end of 2022.... so he is a Pre Agent. What do West Coast do if they want to refresh the list. Probably make sense to look ata player like Clark.

Hard to judge opportunity etc. If he could play as a mid id ask why the WC have not used him in the role. Considering the age of 2e , he would seem a similar player who is 6 years younger.
Another example of aPnP type that you know what he can bring. I doubt geelong recruits player like Carlton to pay big dollars with the hope they can play midfield. Id say Duggan would be on good money with a CV of what he offers. If he can elevate beyound being a solid HBF with a good left footy then great.

Was it you? Some one mentioned his name.

He looks like what our club would find appealing. Mature body. Localish type wanting to come back (not Falcon but similar)

Probably covers the ground well etc etc.

Yea it was me. Someone I bowl with up here knows the family and apparently he wanted to come to Geelong a while ago but isn't sure if Geelong or West Coast said no to a trade.

Clark is the logical one there (if we decide to trade him but i think we will keep him) or Narkle if either wanted to go back to WA. Otherwise you are probably looking at picks..whether they would take one of our R2s or whether they would keep him and hope they get better in FA compo next year i dont know.

A very good footballer who would be rated a lot higher if he was playing in Vic

Swap Clark and our 2nd rounder
For Dugan and a 3rd

If its either gws or our R2 and we hold onto essendons R2 that would be ok. Eagles might push for more.

If he is OOC, and say he wants out, you know the way that goes. Listening to reports out of WA , they are talking reset. Id say they would want youth of some sort.

The questions I've asked and haven't been able to get an answer to, which surely shouldn't be a hard question to answer: "What's Constable's hurt factor?" & "What planning would opposition coaches put into him?"

I get that he can rack up the touches, especially at VFL level, but how damaging are his disposals:
- is he getting the ball to teammates on the outside or teammates closer to the contest?
- does he break away from the contest by putting on a step or a fend off & creating from there?
- what sort of link up play is he involved with
- what does he do when he doesn't have the ball, in terms of when teammates are in possession, when the opposition is in possession & when the ball is in dispute

I agree with you - if he's traded at seasons end then he's traded, so be it
Could be talking Guthrie 2017, 18, 19, without the big possession numbers.

A deal with the Weagles involving Clark could end up being seen as close to a genuine win-win. I think he will fit better there than he will under an 'accountability' coach like Longmuir. And it enables West Coast to sell the 'exciting young talent coming in' narrative to balance the loss of a player who would undoubtedly be respected by a huge portion of the supporter base over there.

I'd be for a deal of this nature, based on what I've seen of both Duggan and Clark thus far.

Have it on good authority that Cam Guthrie's partner wants him to move to QLD and Cam has not ruled it out.
They had both thought about it last year as well.
Can't see it, but it would take GC first pick (top 5) and probably a bonus player.

Brisbane have nothing I would want that they would be willing to give up.

What would we get for him?
After we win the flag .., and I presume he will not move unless its a premium contract ...something like a band1 contract would give us a p21

After today ...imagine Clarkson gos to Gold Coast .... something like that is not unthinkable

Of course we probably get 2 R1 picks for Zac... :greenalien:

Meek is the age that Fort needed to be now. he was recruited to old imo.
