fu** Knevitt, Bob the builder, Mrs Poppins or who else is in the draft.

Do the numbers. We start picking in the 30s. Taheny, Jenkins, Jarvis and Hendo out. Okunbor opens up a Cat B spot. Add in possible departures of Clark, Kreuger, Constable and the number of spots available is suddenly 7+

KPD/Ruck depth is essentially Neale and SDK. I think we may need to try and trade/FA a player or two or some of our draftees may be spakfilla.

I dont think we will be picking in the 30s i definitely think we will be trading up the order and our first pick will be inside 25 (either through clark or another trade).

I agree with kreuger out and fort possibly being traded our KPD and ruck depth is quite thin. Unfortunately this draft is thin for rucks besides conway and not brilliant for key backs. So i would imagine we are more likely to address those areas through cheap trades/DFA/mature age rookies depending on what spots we have and draft more talls at end 2022 when we will have more list spots free and in what looks like a better talls draft next year. Focus on drafting mids this year and maybe a clark replacement.

Suns would be nuts to do that from a value perspective its unders and besides it doesnt help them turn 3 picks into 2 which they need due to lack of list spots. Eg substitute 27 for freos future 2nd and maybe youre getting closer.

If they get those picks id want 19 not 22 as 19 will be a really valuable pick that teams will come for on the night with live trading..even if we have to send a later pick back with clark.

Still i think freos smartest play is to trade 27 and later points (they dont have these picks but they can get them) to the dogs for 17 and give us 17. I dont see how downgrading a top 10 pick is good for them.

Cant see the adelaide deal happening as 23 is needed for dawson.
I don't know about the Suns being nuts. But all accounts none of the 3 elite players in the draft will be available and there's not much between the next 6 or 7. I'd consider the deal if I was the suns

We’ll likely end up with a late teens draft pick plus early-mid 20’s.

That’s what they’re positioning for. Stay tuned - a bit to play out. Still reckon there’s a best 22 player who will go. Not generally the Geelong way, but it’s looming as likely.

I will buy a 2nd membership if it is Parfitt. Won’t be though.

Apparently Clark is on 600k a year. Get rid!
The highest paid "rookie"/youngster in the league - highly doubt it as that would make him one of the higher paid players at the club

Weight hasn't been updated since last season I reckon, as he's definitely more than 2 kegs heavier, (listed as 87kgs) compared to when he was drafted (85kgs)
Maybe. Tom is 100kg so still heaps to go.

Good case to ask for more than pick 27 in that case ;)…pick 8 please if they are offering more than $600k with a 4 year contract

see I can say stupid things too Freo

Except he didn't get his rising star nomination playing in defence, he got it after his move to the wing - he was nominated in round 15 and had spent a couple of months playing on the wing by that stage

If he stayed in defence, not sure he would have got a rising star nomination

I stand corrected re: his rising star game— I remember him playing on the flank at times throughout that year but what is clear is he has had an * next to his name since In Terms of backline - which seems bizarre given wing is one of the hardest spots to play in and he has always excelled down back

Totally agree. Time to let this procession of 'hopefully, hopefully' players pass us by and move on with the younger brigade.

Backline next year could start with:

Bews Blitz Stewart
Atkins Kolo Henry

Then you've still got Dek, Tuohy, MOC and Zuth to consider as other options back there as well. And that's before you look at someone like Stevens, who I think is really likely to put some pressure on to play back there as well, sooner rather than later.

Talia might be fine, he might come in and play decent footy. But it's just holding back more of our development in that part of the ground, when we really need to unearth long-term options for when some of the seniors back there start to hit the wall. Hendo needs to be the last veteran back-up playing lots of games in D50 for the hoops while younger options are starved of senior footy.

Kolo at CHB ha. Might as well throw in the towel now. O'Connor and Tuohy definite starters for mine.
O'Connor SDK Bews
Stewart Blicavs Henry

Tuohy as defender off the bench
SDK needs solid experience around him, not blithering. Kolo as 9th emergency, Atkins emergency too. Like Tom, but he is Scarlo mould
We need more confidence and surety out of defense.

I'm saying they flogged a dead horse with Jack Steven Dollshouse Higgins Zuthrie I have very little faith in our selectors and this is not something new they need a ******* good shake up.

They pick the team they believe will perform the best each weekend and hsvd their own reasons as to why player 22 is in over player 23... Surely this isnt some conroversial thing?? Unless you believe there is some odd conspiracy theory.

If there is one aspect that is not controversial it is selection. Nobody is sitting down with the intentions of a selecting a side that wont win.

A new assistant or a new coach will just simply have his own views and reasons that select player A over player B, but its always out of those handful of fringe players who barely influence much

Yeah but a rookie on $600k is so outlandish I can’t see how anyone can come to that conclusion

Looked through google, and apparently it came from Dale Alcock and The West (whoever that is), and it was posted by an Eagles supporter that ran with it. Freo supporters called BS on it, as did Geelong supporters, but she's using that as her source I reckon - which is pretty damn poor, lol

I mean the players that are being paid that amount would be the B grade players , to put it in perspective someone like Stewart and Bews would be around or a little bit more than that …not a rookie kid

Taylor gone off the deep end

I'm pro Clark, but not sure DE % is hugely indicative with the way we play. That being said I've never thought he's a poor user, or a great user. Needs more experience

Champion Data has a nifty stat that rates against other players and gives weighting to difficulty of kick. No access to it, but showed during the season that Higgins and Parfitt in particular were quite poor. Interested to see where Clark would stack up
If it was the way WE pay then everyone in the side would have well above average DE% like he does. His is an outlier within this group and he does it with a kick to handball ratio close to 60%.
