I will make a prediction if Bowes is coming to us we will either:

1. Get Bowes and Pick 7 for 2023 R1

Or

2. Get Bowes and something less than pick 7 for something less than the 2023 R1

In other words, P7 is a free lunch and you know what they say about those.

They will put 7 on the table as no one is taking bowes contract if they only offer 25.
Thanks to academy players next year they probably would take a future 2nd + future 3rd for bowes etc as easily as a future 1st we just need to find those picks while still getting henry and bruhn. Which is where turning our later 2022 picks into futures would come in.

Dons just makes sense to me... So I'm not getting my hopes up thinking about #7.

I will say that if he doesn’t come to us that at least we can perhaps use that saved $$$ on someone else in the future.

So whilst it'll feel like we are losing out on a prime #7 pick... missing on Bowes/7 will open up other opportunities.
Bowes and Pick 7 to Geelong. Just breath in fresh air and all will play out. Relax

My experience of Geelong fan predictions of trade values is they are universally on the optimistic side. Let’s see shall we?

GGC ... Im confident that if Carlton agreed and we had space in cap and on list we would do that. He is a young ruck, still only 23 and 40 games ..still on the up. Maybe we wait 12 months... and OOC would be cheaper... but his the right age for our needs id have thought.

Gary Jr and Nathan .... we know who was the most talented but it's not just talent is it.

Stanley still has 12 months left i think. Go hard for tdk absolutely but do it next year when he is ooc and cheaper.

Time will tell.
I think these circumstances for gc are unique in that normal precedents dont apply.

Bowes will nominate Geelong.

Only hold up is completing due diligence and meeting with clubs who expressed an interest. Has already toured Geelong and met with senior players and coaches.

Your confidence is so strong that it leads one to believe you.

But It was at the same level with your intel on Holmes playing in the GF and Menegola being sub comments... So I'll just keep my expectations low regarding Bowes/#7.

Hopefully, you are correct.

If not... everyone will just have to put a line through anything you say going forward.

I do appreciate people sticking their necks out though and not sitting on the fence.

I'd love the club to get their hands on #7 as much as the next man.

And Bowes deserves to be paid.

But I'm not sure how much actual use we'd have for Bowes the player, who can't get a run at a team that missed the 8 in 2022.

I've seen a reasonable amount of Bowes; usually plays as a defender and is pretty agile, good height, good skills. Still; I don't see him playing more than a handful of games at best for Geelong - Jack nominates Essendon (hypothetically) and he gets paid and most likely gets a good 10 game free hit next year to establish himself in that team ....

Also AFL might prefer Bowes to North now, Bowes himself might be told by north you take JHF's spot in the midfield now. I am hoping this is not the case.

Always more opportunities in the AFL isn't there; just like ''there's always next next year'' ...

I'd totally be down for #7.

And I don't dislike Bowes as a player.

I'm just not sure that it's the best situation for Bowes, dependent on what he actually wants of course. If he wants a good shot at actually playing footy in 2023, Bombers is his best bet. Imo.

Happy to concede I am not across this stuff as much as others may be, however Jack Bowes motivation is a big factor in any trade decision here.

That's my view of the Ollie Henry trade request. I think it's less than 50/50 that he gets to Geelong.

Graham Wright said this morning that they want to retain him.
Can’t think of an example of an OOC player requesting a trade then re-signing. Just talk from Wright I think.

He's going to get paid regardless. His ~$1.5m is coming to him one way or the other.

With us, we'd likely give him a 4 year deal all up, giving him time to work his way into the side while getting paid rather handsomely.

Also think we'd be able to find 10 games for him in our midfield next year, given our likely player management strategy.

He can basically pencil himself in for 20 games in 2023 at a club like North. Would get a good run at it, injuries permitting, and would be a good shot at getting a run at a midfield role too.

If Bowes is good enough he can play.

I don't like the idea of trying to guarantee a player a spot to get them mentally over the line (not saying you are saying we are offering something like that though).

If you are on the list, you get an opportunity like everyone else on it.

Work your ass off, learn, improve and earn your spot in our side... It will be such a rewarding thing to achieve.

If you want cheap games... go to North or some other weaker sides.

I'll have plenty of respect for Bowes straight off the bat if he chooses us over some other lower sides that are going hard for him.

Would be interesting to hear what North are telling potential recruits about their coaching position for next season.

Listening to Dodoro saying Bowes was a 'high priority' makes me really want to get him.
Adrian misspoke, he meant Bowes became a high priority as soon as he knew pick 7 was involved, prior to that he didn’t even know who he was

I just saw Hawthorn's list manager discussing on trade radio with Cal Twomey. They (Hawthorn) are telling him he will be played as an inside midfielder.

In that scenario #6>#7 LOL, - which I'm not saying is implausible; I don't know - it's obviously dependent on Bowes being happy enough to maintain his patience for senior exposure. If he is happy to ''work his way'' into the line-up over a 4-year period then he'd obviously be coming to a great working environment.

If getting games under his belt in 2023 is a bigger priority then North or Essendon would be the more attractive proposition, imo ....

10 games in our midfield next year .... maybe? I feel like Cooper Stephens will definitely get opportunities next year; Dangerfield spoke quite glowingly of the work he's been putting in recently. After Stephens, Bowes would likely be next-ish in line, competing with the likes of Knevitt, Willis, Kroeger etc

Clubs always say that. Means nothing.
Hes out of contract and he will get here. Pies have no hand to play.
