I dunno Turbo ... reckon Bowes goes close to walking into that Bombers line-up, whereas I could see him struggling to stay on the fringe at Geelong.

If I'm Bowes and I'm looking to actually rack up some games next year, I'm probably going with Essendon - depends on how much of appetite he has for a challenge. Because if he wants to back himself in and is looking to play Finals next year .. then he might nominate us. Big call.
If I was an afl player I wouldn’t be keen to go to North or Bombers they’re both a long way off playing good footy and both clubs have some big issues on and off field.

What little chance there was of Ollie staying, would have gone with their resident insider and training watcher Jen2310's massive outburst (now deleted) and her behaviour at the Copeland. People have lost it at him, so there's no chance he'd feel comfortable going back, IMO

Maybe.
North looks a dicey environment at present.

To my way of thinking most young players just want to actually play - Bowes has not been ticking this box and my guess is that 2023 senior game time would be a huge factor in weighing up his decision ..

Your confidence is so strong that it leads one to believe you.

But It was at the same level with your intel on Holmes playing in the GF and Menegola being sub comments... So I'll just keep my expectations low regarding Bowes/#7.

Hopefully, you are correct.

If not... everyone will just have to put a line through anything you say going forward.

I do appreciate people sticking their necks out though and not sitting on the fence.
There's a bit to the Holmes story that may or may not be public knowledge ...... I had some intel via friends connected to his family and he was very confident of playing right up to Friday. What's since come out was that even the medical people were clearing him to play. So without trying to justify what I'd said, I think it's fair to say that up to Friday evening it was looking highly likely that he would play. What we now know if that it was the match committee that made a very late call not to risk playing him. And both coach and club have confirmed this, as well as saying that the medical team cleared him.

I didn't hear anything to the contrary (about him not playing) until mid morning on match day when it hit social media. What I've since been told is that he was sat down and spoken to very supportively by the club late in the day on Friday.

Bowes might be a surfer/fishing type like plenty of our guys and living down here might just be huge for him.

There are just so many things he will take into account.

We are all just hoping/guessing.

Fingers crossed he chooses us and we find out very soon.

What are we talking about here exactly?

That's a reasonable point.

Not much surf up in Cairns to my knowledge - but fishing, for sure ...

anyway I'll shut up now as I have less idea than most on this!

If that's the case, I wonder why GC are bothering with the pick 7 carrot? Sounds like they could have got him off the books a bit cheaper if we wanted him. P7 is absolutely gravy if this deal happens.
It's very simple as to why #7 is being dangled.

Bowes is owed much more $$$ than he is worth.

I thought this too when Bowes was first announced. I was like 'oh wow, Bowes is coming to us, 1st rounder should do it'...then I find out his salary...then the Pick 7...then the possibility of it not being a first for either of them and it's just like :astonished: wowzer

Clubs always say that. Means nothing.
Hes out of contract and he will get here. Pies have no hand to play.
I love your analyses of this period every year.
What do you see will happen re-
1. Ollie Henry? What will we do to get him?
2. Sav- will stay?
3. The other 2 that get linked to us?

You misunderstood, I clearly understand why pick 7 is in play due to his salary. My point was that if Geelong were already into Bowes for some time prior to pick 7 piquing the interest of a dozen other clubs, why would Gold Coast have bothered throwing it out there?

Common sense says that they would try deal with Geelong and if that doesn't eventuate, that's when P7 is thrown in.

Could be as simple as, in return for JB+7, a FR2 from the Bombers is better than an FR2 from Geelong.

If GC can get JB to agree to go to the Bombers (or Norf etc.), they'd do the deal with them instead of us.

Henry will get done it will be either p18 or future 1st with minor pick swaps between the parties.
Bruhn im not as confident on given how the cameron trade went last time but i do think it gets done (wont be til next week) for a r1 imo.
Im less confident on bowes because other clubs can offer him more gametime.

Mackie seems adamant sav is staying but we know he met port last week so he obviously has some interest in a trade. Port have now got bigger priorities with jhf so that door has closed. If another club comes chasing sav with a longer contract (hes only got 1 yr to go) and more gametime i still think he would request a trade and we would grant it but only later on once our primary deals are done.

I said early in that 7 was probably a bid to try to get something good back next year from a Hawthorn or Essendon. I doubt Gold Coast had Geelong in mind when they threw that out.

They're pushing him out, so I'd imagine they'd be very, very silent on this, IMO. Up to Bowes
