Just putting it out there, if we walk away from this with our future first still in tact and henry, bruhn, bowes and pick 7... Wells and mackie take a bow

That's what I've been plugging from the get-go.

The number of people just happy to hand over our 1st and F1 for Bruhn + Henry without exploring other ways to keep at least one of them was certainly surprising and generous of them.

I guess we just won the flag though so we are feeling nice.

Better off with Sav TBH.
Insurance policies are hard to swallow sometimes.

I'm totally fine holding onto Sav if a nice/usable trade can't be made.

I'd put a line through him as a forward/ruck... But still have hope he can be a solid strong key back.

Give him a full preseason training him up as a full back and he could surprise.

Given our KP depth... I wouldn't be rushing him out the door whilst contracted for a mid/late pick.

Imagine rat playing down back... We could have Hawkins rucking in fwd 50, Stanley mid/wing and Sav defence.... Would keep Stanley pretty fresh...

If we can honestly saying ... we plan to play you..and you will be given every chance to make it work... He asks about Sam... and we say Sam will be CHB , play higher , he is very mobile ..eventually he will be on ball maybe even down forward... but we promise you If you are fit ..we pick you. .... . We have that much confidence in you , offer him another year ir two that takes him to FA ... a little contractual boost ..certainly match what ever Pear are offering.

Then fine keep him

But if he is only 23 plus and spots will be tough. Hawkins hates not playing and we have to get games into Neale ... and we do not play Sav ..we keep him for coverage then we best start planning for him to be gone in 12 months.. which means we bring someone in this year

Mal Michael 2.0?

If we had more collateral to deal with Collingwood .... id ask about Charlie Dean .

If we cant get a deal done for Sav for the right pick ... then Id ask about Bryn Teakle..

but both are contracted ... but so is Sav.

How old is he ? The Port guy is not someone I have seen live...and do we have any combine data on him? Id wonder about athleticism. It really si almost a different level of game with different demands. Rookie ..what is there to lose. probably plays VFL mostly.

I have no doubt that the sort of result Allwn did would have turned our head ..we love speed and stamina together. but I doubt we have a pick in his range.

Think he's only 22 or 23. Have no idea as to his athleticism.

Dan Menzel before he got injured, is my ceiling for him/the player he reminds me of most, IMO
That's the name I was thinking, regret not being confident enough to say it. But I feel like Menzel was showing more flexibility on a wing and half forward line before his first knee.

If pre knee Menzel is possible I'm more excited.

Beyond that I don't know. It's a tricky height, speed, skill set.

On the main board there was a whisper about GC being interested in Cooper Stephens.

Might make the Bowes trade interesting if we give up a player instead of a pick....
Zero clue what to make of Cooper as a player, just know he's a good hard working kid from everything I've read. Hence not sure how this rumour makes me feel.

Coop ain't going anywhere this off-season. Just something put out there by Montagna and enquiries made by GC. He's currently one of the 14 overseas with the Geelong boys in Ireland, so he'd be blindsided if that happened.

Absolutely no chance he leaves this trade period, IMO. We don't let players go this early on, unless they themselves force the issue

Maybe I'm over rating the height factor but Gunston looks quite a bit taller.

Howe was a 190cm forward. But I don't think we need another 190cm forward that's more effective down back.
Yeah Gunston a bit taller at 193, as opposed to Henry at 189. But from what I've seen of Henry he's an outstanding mark and has really good hands.

His vertical leap and athleticism is really good. He might be one of those guys that can play taller with those attributes.

Looking at his stats in terms of goals;

Kicked 4 goals once

Kicked 3 goals twice

Kicked 2 goals on six occasions.

For someone who has played only 25 games and is a third tall forward, that's very impressive. I can see why the Pies are upset at him leaving. Big ceiling. Hitting the scoreboard so frequently in your first 25 games; that's very positive.

I wonder if a McKenna visit is on the agenda in Ireland
