Why do you say that he is fit enough for AFL? Gaelic football is an amateur sport, played on a smaller rectangular ground for a shorter duration and there is no tackling.
Lol relax mate...I was just trying to be positive. It's not like he's sat out a whole 2 years of footy or something...he's still training, playing sport and keeping up with a fitness routine. I'm sure we wouldn't be looking at him if we didn't think he'd be able to perform at the level required.

Someone should pick him up, if we had traded Sav, it would have been a no brainer
If we don’t pick up Busslinger and we probably won’t then I say do it anyway. Gives Ratugolea some competition and I’d feel more comfortable with another backup.

There was never bad feelings from memory. He would still surely have love for the club where he’d still have some friends around & his grandfather played at. Whereas someone else would have to grow to love the place.

Yeah no. We do not need two Sav’s as insurance sitting in the twos.

I am relaxed. So trust me, he will need to start training as early as possible to get back to AFL levels.

We need another key defender in the reserves because Ratugolea is the only depth we have isn’t he
Yes, but you don't get 2 players solely as depth. For that money, you'd have Ratugolea as depth and a young prospect in case Ratugolea, Blicavs and De Koning all cop injuries at once. Otherwise you're throwing away a development spot for the sakes of one game in a hundred.

Absolutely I agree and it's why I want Busslinger in this draft because right now I don't think we need another midfielder.

I disagree, because Pick 7 is the one chance we have to get a really special player in through the draft (but no pressure!). If we got top-ten picks in most years, then I'd agree with you, but in this case I think we need to pick the best player rather than one that fits our team.

You can generally get good tall defenders late in the first round (Taylor, De Koning), through non-conventional means (Blicavs, McCartin), through low-cost trade (Aliir), or converting a tall forward (Liam Jones, Ratugolea).

Would Neale or Conway make a good defender as a way to get one of them games then? Don't know much about them but hear good things

I would feel better with Walker coming in for say Kolo if he is injured V Esava. If he comes in on rookie wages and is happy to spend time in the VFL why not?

One back up and another young fella developing is a much better spread.

You don't need competition for the VFL CHB. We're throwing away 2nd year players as we're running out of list spots. Sometimes the stars just don't align

Out of interest ..how do the decide 500 and how do the decide 3m ... if all have the right to move in soccer? Contract size?

I do agree that they must find something that works for australia and our code.... Soccer system is theirs and every sport is different. NRL has no draft in australia... do they have a fairer system? Is it more sustainable because players are not just told where to go? Im not sure.... they have very parochial comp compared to us. Whether we come up with a artificial value like the FA comp or some other method of compensation ... , someone like Dunkley OOC should have been able to control his destiny. One might argue about Henry and Bruhn ,. that they had not done much for the comp yet but Dunkley has contributed to the comp long enough to control his own destination imo.

As far players being likely to go to one side more than others. Hard to change preferences but it happens.Geelong was once not a destination club. Can StKIld etc find somethinbg that makes them an indentity. What deos Gold Coast offer. Maybe Geelong are lucky being the only provincial club... and if they works for us..long may it be so... because for years it worked against us.

Well they want to change the system, so this information might be out of date in the next two years.
At the moment a club signing an out of contract player under 24 pays compensation for training and development of the player, initially the clubs attempt to come to a payment agreement or if that fails it goes to an independent committee.
Its not based on transfer value or market value, its based solely on training and development fees.

Its is why clubs are wanting this changed, as Liverpool got Harvey Elliott for cheap (1.5m plus a further 2.8 in conditional sums i.e games played etc) compared to what he would get on an open market. Elliott was under 16 when this happened.
Liverpool had to pay Burnley 8m for Danny Ings when his contract with Burnley ended when he was 23 and he went to Liverpool. Ings was probably worth about 15m at the time. Thats the current record compensation.

The problem with this in the AFL is it allows the rich clubs to poach. Looking at 2021 revenue the list reads;
Pies (77m), Hawks (71m), WCE (71m) are the clear top 3
Bombers (65m), Tigers (65m) at the next tier
Blues (59m), Port (57m), Cats (59m), Croms (55m)
Freo (53m), Lions (52m), Dees (52m), Bulldogs (51m), Swans (50m)
Saints (47m)
GWS (42m), GC (40m)
North (39m)

Could you imagine Port, who have nearly an extra 20m in revenue, being able to take JHF with very little compensation off North? Port didn't give up nearly enough but imagine if it was just financial compensation North got.

To be fair I don't have fair in Esava as a backup anywhere to be honest. Walker is a better defender and forward, and would be better than Esava in our current line up. Would rather have given Esava to Port for 33, kept Stephens and brought in Walker for depth.

IMO Sav is the tall mobile KFP behind glass if we need one - granted he's very inexperienced at it but the unit function will help that.

Neale id really only want in F50 for games and Conway needs to ruck ruck ruck...

Not sure they are th defender you are looking for - granted Neale has played a few in D50 in the VFL - but IMO hes a much better KPF.

Neale is a lead and mark type. Hasn't smarts that I notice yet. Ill wait for further development. When out of position can't read the situation to bring the ball to the ground. Is he athletic? As for Simpson. He is robotic and doesn't have a high skill level and slowish. Tom De Koning. Doesn't get played every week. These players are talked up on posts. Why ?
They all look good to me. Not sure if SDK can lead from the forward position but marking will not be an issue

Not a hope in hell IMO. Conway is a lumbering tall ruck like the Big O in Brisbane and as for Neale, i can't see anything other than a mobile hybrid forward come ruck so far. Next year should become more clearer in what we have.

Walker? as in Josh Walker?? Nah, we've already danced with him at the B&S Ball.
We both went our seperate ways for a reason.
