7&58 for 14&17 no wastage.
I said that a few days ago. 14+17 for 7. I'd be okay with that.
If we land one pick inside 15, and another first rounder (this year or next), that's the only way I'd trade 7.

If we have two first rounders this year, and then maybe even Clohesy with our last and next pick for the draft, then it's a big win. I think Clohesy is very much a bigger version of Atkins, just tries, runs, tackles, does all the hard stuff. Real workhorse type, and you need a few of those types.

Its was not about swans pick in the 30's. it was more a comparison of swans 14 and 17 ... and wc 12 and Fr2

Id take WC pick 12 and their Fr2... who knows ..if Holland was there at 12 the Suns might come knocking.
Oops I’d still take the swans pick. Eagles will be a lot better in 2023.

I think busslinger is a big chance for us.
We now have them all covered in the three media outlets. Which is pretty good tactics. Everyone assumes Clark so may as well throw out all kinds of messages.

We (cats fans) would all like to know but I’m happy the club is trying to send the message that anything is possible when we have a good pick.

Id be wanting more than a future 2nd for downgrading 7 to early teens..last year port paid a future 2nd to move up 2 spots for sinn and that wasnt in the top 10.
To move back from 7 i would be wanting 2 r1s this year (for eg 14 and 17 sydney or 15 and 18 gws etc) or a 10-20 pick this year and a future 1st.
Id hold 7 if all offers are less than that.

There may well be some misinformation being thrown out (not just by us but by all clubs) but i still think busslinger ticks a lot of boxes for the type of player we tend to like. I still think we will pick clark but if he does go to gc or hawthorn i think busslinger is a good chance.

Reckon we would only take Busslinger if we were to trade down to pick up a FF. Can’t see us using pick 7 (8) on him.

Seems crazy that I'm warming to the idea that I'd almost prefer Ed Allan over Clark/Tsatas/Humprey.

Maybe it's my brain playing tricks on me... But Allan could have some crazy upside long-term.

He comes back from a back stress fracture issue that would have hampered him big time in the Colts and just builds over 5 games.

20 touches first game back... then 25, then 27, then 31 and finished up his season r19 with 23 touches.

5 clearances per game + he had a 9 and 10 mark game... So he is winning it on the inside + getting to the outside to offer a marking option.

Couple that up with him being a very good endurance runner and easily the fastest 20m sprint (2.81s) and top 10 in the agility test as a kid that is 194cm... Seems a serious all-around package and I'm not shocked he is looking like being a bolter.

He doesn't even know how to use his speed in games yet by the looks of it so that's a big weapon he will get to unleash in time.

Comes from very good footy stock as well, so I doubt he will just be an athlete.

Maybe I just want to mentally shoot for someone that has enormous potential upside and is on the taller side.

Clark seems a safe pick if available for sure but I worry about his upside (might not even be avail anyway).

I'm talking myself into Allan for sure... Maybe if Clark is off the table it becomes almost an easy call to make... Maybe I'm way off target.

Hands Up if you think the player we are taking isn't being overly talked about?
Is there a classic Kansas City Shuffle in play??
But who is the mark? Is it West Coast is it Carlton? Is it Sydney
Do we want the Eagles to move or does Hawthorn want them to?
Is Hawthorn playing the shuffle or is it us.
Is Dodoro trying to get into the game?
Are we making out we want player A B or C just for leverage to trade for assets now or later?
Do we want the Weagles to trade with the Dorks to eliminate one possibility thus handing us another?
Ahhh... Another 6 sleeps we'll all know.

One thing is for sure, he's definitely a 'Wells pick.' If he gets selected, I won't grumble, because his selection of Max Holmes has basically given him indemnity for the next decade, haha.

I actually like Allan though, and can see why he's the 'bolter' this year. If we pick him, I won't be disappointed, but I'd rather McKenzie, Humphrey, Tsatas or Hewett if Clark isn't available - and the aforementioned still are :)

So time for some ACTUAL news!

The same Irish paper that followed Mullin last year and forecast him coming and then backing out, has now released that his current club Mayo, and the manager of the club, are preparing for next season without him and he'll take up an offer with us in 2023.

Welcome to the GFC Oisin!

"For McStay, if trying to fill the gap left by Keegan next to near impossible, news has amerged that Oisin Mullin is expected to try his luck in Australia by signing for AFL’s Geelong Cats.

Mullin was on the verge of signing for Geelong for the 2022 season, but in January decided to throw his lot in with Mayo and stay put.

...

But now it seems 22-year-old Mullin is ready to play professional football in Australia in the 2023 season.

He will be a massive loss to Mayo, having already played in two All-Ireland senior finals, having an All-Star award to his name and two young footballer of the year awards."

Am I right in saying that we hadn't spoken to Holmes prior to trading up to get him.

Nah we had, just didn't let him know we'd be selecting him. Melbourne had the most interest by far from memory. I think we planned on selecting Ollie from memory by getting that Future 1st from Richmond, but it all went to shit when Collingwood selected Henry at 17 - so we went with our third choice in Holmes (after Bruhn and Henry).

In the end, turned out to be inspired, as we never would have got Holmes, but we were always getting Henry and Bruhn back. Incredible outcome for that to happen.

Didn't we make that pick-swap trade after Henry was selected?

194cm with top end athleticism who has been played as an inside mid could be developed in half the positions around the ground. Sounds like a top 10 pick.

Allan will go back home like his old man did.... I think we need another Max

I wouldn't usually discount taking players from interstate because of the potential go home factor but I think it would be mental to take Allan. His Dad was captain and a board member at Freo. Add the tyranny of distance into the mix with WA and he has a stronger case to go home than Ollie Henry did.

Don’t reckon it bodes well for Knevitt if we were to pick Allan.

I don't see why we can't fit into two of that type. Imagine if Blicavs had a twin, Scott would find a way.

If they both make it as inside mids we'd have a huge size advantage in the middle. If not one could be a wingman or a third tall etc.

Not for me ... 14 and 17 ... probably 15 and 19. Any future stuff is a gamble but the draft this year is too. Its probably the reverse of what we did withe the Holmes pick ina way. Technically we trade in P20 for P17. Its more about the quality than the pick ...

Id be the first to admit its based only on gut feel i think the early 20's next year may be equal to what we have at 19 or so this year, if not be better ... and an extra pick probably works better for us next year. I think we are probably stocked at the moment. Bruhn and Henry ..are almost draft picks. If we do not get Clark ...I dont see anyone worth digging my heels in about... and next year we will need the additional pick
