We will have to get creative as gc will probably want our future 2nd for bowes and we cant trade it (if our future 1st goes for henry) unless we bring another future 2nd in.
We could however flip 36 46 51 and 54 to a club that needs picks this year for their future 2nd and flip that pick for bowes and 7.
If we get Bowes, then 7 for Henry and 16?

Looks like we head into next week full of hope. Just as we did last Saturday! The year we win it all could be the year we set up the next decade.

I recon Bowes will pick the Cats. He showed how commited to the Suns he was by accepting a back ended pay deal and got screwed. There is bad carma swirling around Hawthorn, North and Essendon so I doubt he wants to be at any of them. He will pick somewhere that is stable and gives him a shot at maximising his potential. So he will pick Geelong.

So we get pick 7. With such a high pick I would alway choose to go with the best available. But with our likely ins, maybe we have covered that and so we focus on needs. Like most on the Cats Big Footy, I see our need as key position players. So I want a 195 plus kid with good skills and a huge tank. I doubt Cadman gets to us at 7, probably 8 after Ashcroft goes at 1, so who then? In Cal Twomey's list the next up are Jefferson and Busslinger. Is it possible to split pick 7 by swapping with Sydney (14 and 17) or Richmond (12 and 19) and still get the key position guy we want. The other half gets Henry or Burhn and our draft hand for next year stays in tact.

I would expect Clohesy (after 40) and Riccardi (Rookie) to get to us. We probably have a couple of picks that we try to roll into next year. I'm a fan of keeping Sav. If we do somehow end up with another pick, I would go key position again.

Make no mistake - the Cats have a plan. There's a bit to play out but they see a role for Bowes and Danger has stayed pretty close to him in recent times. Adding some appeal for us is the lure of pick 7 being attached to Bowes.

Pick 7 is right in Geelong's cross hairs and there's one player they are absolutely targeting, and that's Clark. Local kid and has spent much of this year being mentored by a bloke called Joel Selwood. Cats are very keen to get him in as some think he'll play senior footy next year. A pretty solid character it seems and definite leadership potential. Geelong quietly confident that he'll be there at 7 - if it's a line ball thing - other clubs will be very aware of the go home factor that is playing out with some other locals like Bruhn and Henry and target other kids with less risk ........... something that I think is becoming a bit of an advantage for the Cats.

So much water to go under the bridge, but the Cats are well placed heading into a trade and draft period straight off the back of winning the flag. You can only imagine how aggro some other clubs are about our position.

What is that ?? About 2nd rounders?? I know the 1st round policy... but 2nd rounders??

Gc will probably want a future 2nd and maybe a futire 3rd or 4th for bowes and 7. If we get creative we can make it work.

Good point on the go home factor for Clark. It could make him slip.

Yep that's my thought process here, is that we trade all those later picks to a different club who wants points or multiple selections, for a future pick in the 20s and some late picks, and then hand over the 20's pick for Bowes and keep the futures. Essentially trade out of this draft for Bowes and Pick 7, and then push the late picks into next year

Yeah that was essentially what i was thinking
For example
18 for bruhn
Future 1st for henry
(Maybe in both cases we get a future 3rd or 4th back)
36 46 and 51 to a club that needs picks this year (for example freo as they have no 2nd or 3rd) for their future 2nd.
Then flip freos future 2nd and a future 4th (or similar) for 7 and bowes
Sav for a future 3rd (unless he gets worked into one of the above trades)
Means we would still have our future 2nd and maybe a couple of future 3rds and a 4th just not our future 1st.
Obviously the other option is we split 7 for 14 and 17 (or 12 and 19) with 17/19 getting traded for henry and we keep our future 1st (not saying we should do that just saying we can).

Just use one pick (ie 7 or 14)and take clohesy late or as a cat b if he gets through.
Push all the other picks to next year.

It’s clearly who the cats are targeting in the draft, but I can almost bet my house that Hawthorn, with pick 6, would take him. He is exactly what they need from a list profile perspective, and the demons of Mitch Thorp would still haunt that list mgmt room. Can’t see any scenario Clark gets to us, unfortunately.

rumour going around esava has been seen at alberton

That would be interesting because youre not flush with picks this year (im assuming amon compo becomes rioli). Future 3rd or something like that should do it.

I agree i dont think clark gets past hawthorn. 7 or even a teens pick will still get us a good player though.
