What is that ?? About 2nd rounders?? I know the 1st round policy... but 2nd rounders??

You cant trade a future 1st and a future 2nd unless you bring in another clubs future 2nd) etc

Broadbent... you liked him earlier in the year?

I certainly do like him too but like barnett he wont go top 10 more 2nd round and with list numbers we might not take more than one pick. But if we end up with a pick in his range id be happy to have him.

Make no mistake - the Cats have a plan. There's a bit to play out but they see a role for Bowes and Danger has stayed pretty close to him in recent times. Adding some appeal for us is the lure of pick 7 being attached to Bowes.

Pick 7 is right in Geelong's cross hairs and there's one player they are absolutely targeting, and that's Clark. Local kid and has spent much of this year being mentored by a bloke called Joel Selwood. Cats are very keen to get him in as some think he'll play senior footy next year. A pretty solid character it seems and definite leadership potential. Geelong quietly confident that he'll be there at 7 - if it's a line ball thing - other clubs will be very aware of the go home factor that is playing out with some other locals like Bruhn and Henry and target other kids with less risk ........... something that I think is becoming a bit of an advantage for the Cats.

So much water to go under the bridge, but the Cats are well placed heading into a trade and draft period straight off the back of winning the flag. You can only imagine how aggro some other clubs are about our position.

Great post Jumping Jack
From a business management perspective I just admire how professional we are in terms of strategic planning and staying ahead of the competition.
Our back office has been first class since Costa/Cook and Balme and now , in 2022, that has culminated in on field success.
Hard to argue against us being the benchmark after this season.
Incredible if we pull off what's being circulated in the trade period !
I can't wait to get over to Geelong and watch a game once the Stadium is completed :thumbsu:

Turbocat I told you before he was drafted he'd request a trade back to Geelong when his first contract expired if drafted by another club.

It was a nonsensical selection by Collingwood.

No.

7 brings in a quality player that has more potential than what a a 16 could bring in a very thin year. Bad for us.
May I post in your forum? You're bang on T_H

I hope you get Henry, loyalty matters to us as least as much as it does to you. Good wishes aside the current Pies admins are no fools and will try to stick you for him.

7 would be a massive win for Collingwood, and way over. I can imagine a world where 18 and some sort of second gets the deal done, but OH was pick 17 in a decent year so 18 alone aint it.

If you promise to tank then a future 1st might do it.;)

Very much in favour of kids playing for their boyhood sides if they can, and brothers playing together (not sure if we need a rule for it somehow? like a more costly F/S or something?), we have a real tradition of it at the Pies but sometimes its harsh (we just delisted both the very brave but flawed Brown bros). It would have been nice to see all the Selwoods line up, the way we had Shaws, Coventrys etc and the Bombers once had 4 Danihers in the same side.

You did also think he'd re-sign after his initial contract this time though, so that part has actually been a surprise - a very very pleasant one :)

No disrespect but you won't be getting pick 7.

Has anyone seen much of Jhye Clark? I've only watched some highlights (which are often a terrible way to judge) but I wouldn't say I'm too excited based on the videos currently available.

Don't shoot me down, I'm aware I can't judge off 2min video, hence wanting others input.

No doubt looks competitive, plays quite tough but he is only 181 I think? Which isn't a deal breaker but if competitiveness is is main attribute then at 181 it is. Disposal doesn't look great (in the short videos), uses both feet but poppy kick.

He's no Selwood anyway which I'd read some had made the comparison. As a kid there was limited vision of Selwood too but he played quick, had plenty of tricks, evasive, good step, 360 blind turns and handballs out of traffic etc.

No disrespect detected, if we got 7 you'd be a laughing stock, I was agreeing with the poster who said it isn't happening.

Henry is worth more than 18 in the current market, especially where (rightly or wrongly) the Pies feel like they might run into Geelong again inn the finals.

Personally I'd love a soft trade for you, for loyalty reasons, you could pay us back with goodwill and a soft trade in the future. I doubt your footy Dept and ours agree.

Reminds me of parish.

Not Selwood

He is uncontracted and not in your best side after two seasons. His draft value has not gone up. His end to this season was pretty poor. He is a lot like jordan clark albeit slightly younger. You can see the talent but he hasnt delivered anything yet, cant get in the top 22 and is uncontracted and wanting to leave.

Fair enough but 18 is about right imo.

I’m not sure Collingwood can really push that hard in a trade for Henry.
They’ve bought in a number of players that play a similar role to him, played hi mostly in the vfl and offered him a poor contract. How they can then demand a high draft pick I don’t see how that adds up.
We’ll see how it plays out but rarely do we not get the player who nominated us.

Something going on there? Was highly rated and now has a foul pungent odour that he's emitting. There's a few clubs sniffing around but his stocks have dropped big time.

I liked the kid Worrell more than him in the champs but he was the one all see to like. I don't think he is mobile /agile enough

I can see tears when we get pick 7 but need to split it to pay for all the incoming talent.
We won't need to split it. 7 Is for Clark.
