It's interesting this article not mentioning us at all.... matter of fact I haven't see us mentioned to him in any news article...
I’ve always considered Grundy to be highly overrated but I’d certainly take him if the $$ and trade options were favourable.
If we did get him though, what would that mean for Stanley? I’d be very reluctant to not offer him a contract, but IIRC he’s had to be convinced to play on in the past.
EDIT: Mitch Cleary on 7 just said that Stanley is very close to re-signing, so that’s that.
I have us finishing 13th... ..to me that 8 or 9. I think the only GC player that is bid on in the top 10 is Big Jed
Plus mckay compo. Plus potentially parish. We wont be picking inside 10 i dont think
Well, unless he's decided he's Got Enough Money, he stays regardless of who else is there.I’ve always considered Grundy to be highly overrated but I’d certainly take him if the $$ and trade options were favourable.

Pick 4 will get eaten up too so you’d assume they will want to trade it to get some other value from it. I’d be tempted to use our FF with maybe a swap of future 2nd round picks? Something like that anyway.
Only needs to play 6-10 as Tobes will handle the rest.Anyone who thinks stanleys body will be abke to play a full year next year is on the wacky tobacky. Hence the need for a ruck.
Lucky for us we hav3 a man child that will be better than both of them at 21.He was still terrible at 21 too.
Pretty sure I could find a post where you said something similar at end 2021.
While true, not every club has 7 top 25 picks on their list in the last 4 years, with another top 10 pick this year.Look just a view on our youth kids...
Look our youth eg Knevitt, Clark, Neale, Holmes, Bruhn, Conway etc does look good and potential..
But I beat you, if you asked all supporters from 17 clubs, I beat you they most likely say the same about there club.. Look im not saying ours won't be, but there is no guarantee this next lot of kids will be the next bunch of kids to take us to our next Premiership..
Please we just have to a little bit of hope that our senior players give these kids some guidance in to make our kids better than the 17 other teams..

Or 2019,Pretty sure I could find a post where you said something similar at end 2021.
The old story " The ex Geelong Falcon" must be going back home to Geelong "Exactly - I know there's been some chat on here about him and in the FB fan group, but I've seen no media mentions linking us to Doedee
We really will not know till the younger group become our best players. I look back to the 1999 draft and the B&F winners from that draft. 2004 Ling, 2005 Corey , 2006 Chapman ...While true, not every club has 7 top 25 picks on their list in the last 4 years, with another top 10 pick this year.
We're a bit different in that case, both to the majority of clubs, and ourselves in years gone by.
We're not being delusional in rating these guys, we should be expecting them to be good. It's why they were picked as high as they were.
It's not like 5-6 years ago where you're just praying that Timm House & Matthew Hayball can make a career out of themselves.
This years top four is weak as piss and if we didn't have the bad run with injuries, we would easily be top 8, and add two decent mids into this years list and we are comfortable top 4.
Next year I think won't be different. Our defense suffered because our midfield was tragic. Fix the mids, and we stop letting teams pile on the i50s that put massive pressure on the defense.
Our attack was incredible considering how many games we weren't good out of the middle.
2 decent mids in the 24-28 age bracket and we comfortably make top 8. And with an easier fixture top 4.
There is no "outstanding" team this year like us last year, Dees in 21, us in 2019 (til we bottled the finals), Richmond in 2018 (til they bottled the PF).
Or 2019,
Or 2018,
Or 2014,
Or 2010,
We've done this dance a 100 times. If we're out of the 8 this time next year then we can have that discussion.
Until then it's premature. We don't even know what our list is going to look like in 3 months time.
Can we all remember…. As promising as Conway looks… he has hardly played even a handful of VFL games and zero AFL games… yet we keep talking like he is a guaranteed star.
So much water still to go under the bridge
Especially if another club puts him on a full contract and not a rookie deal.Because that is of zero benefit to him
I think even if he holds up well, he is getting on and getting to the age where rucks tend to slow down or fall off the cliff. Hopefully the club don't bank on him for more than 15 games next year, get games into Conway and try and find a Ceglar replacement that is over 23 but under 30 who is willing to step in if Conway or Stanley are injured, or able to work in games with Conway.Anyone who thinks stanleys body will be abke to play a full year next year is on the wacky tobacky. Hence the need for a ruck.
Short preseason under the flag and the worst injury crisis we have had since the early 2000s is why I have faith we bounce back next year. Add in the easier fixture and if we pick up the right players this will be exactly like 2015/2016 (with hopefully a better ending).Even if thats the case..and Im not sure of that... its doesn't automatically flow on to 2024.Yes easier fixture. Danger Stewart Blitz Stanley another year older. Add two mids that are in our best 10 players and it would alter things if all stayed fit.
Too right we will. just hoping we aren’t silly enough to chase Grundy.Yeah some of the discussion here is a bit ridiculous. He’s literally played zero games and some people are talking about him like he’s dean cox reincarnated.
He may well turn out to be a gun, but it’d be diabolical list management to rely on that happening, and even more so to assume it’ll happen next year. Hence with ceglar out, we’ll almost certainly be getting a ruckman in during trade period.
Was a two part question…Absolutely I do.

If was interesting listening to him on SEN. He is all about the numbers and he was quite compelling in terms of what was down in 23 and how it “could be” different in 24. He noted that the difference between 21 (when the era was certainly over…) and 22 (too old too slow too good) was the impact of 3 young players (Max, SDK, i forgot!) and lack of injuries in the back half of the year. For mine the era is certainly over. We still might contend next year if like in 22 others walk under a ladder while we have a good run
