To be fair to Holmes he has done much much more than Bruhn and Bruhn's trade value (about #19) should really be an absolute minimum starting point for Holmes.

I doubt we'd get a top ten though unless the club that wants him holds one around #10.

If we ever traded Holmes for a pick 20+ I'd wanna start throwing down with whoever signed off on it.

P.S I just wanna keep Holmes and have him reach his potential for us.

Holmes won’t be going anywhere.

I think there was a bit of fallout over not being selected for our GF side after being cleared to play. Family made it known to the club they were disappointed and the discussions were had earlier this year between player, family and club and everyone moved on.

Any talk of Holmes leaving is completely baseless. It seems people are jumping to conclusions just because he wasn’t picked, and a couple of clubs have expressed interest. He’s going nowhere.

For the sake of argument, let’s assume that Smith changes his mind and wants to leave. Under contract what sort of deal would it take?

I’m thinking pick 7 plus FF plus F2. A lot to give up. I think that’s too much for one player where our list is right now. If we were likely to challenge then perhaps. But right now I think we should be building our list systematically before throwing all our eggs into the one basket. We still have a number of holes to fill.
I would give that up for Jamarra.

If Smith is there to get, and he is giving every indication he will leave, why would the Dogs hold him to get less next year? They would get pick 7 from us plus probably whatever we get for Sav this year. They'd be mad to turn that down now for a player they know will leave 12 months from now.

And we need the midfield class now while Danger and Guthrie still have something to give. Is it overs for him? Yeah probably, but we need the talent and he is the right age.

Not sure Smith has given “every indication”. Nothing much from him at all. Said he expects to be at the dogs but that means nothing.

Connors always speaks highly of his dealings with Geelong, and I suspect if a trade is happening, then the discussions have been taking place for quite some time. He’s a deal maker and is too smart to let stuff get into the public domain.

If Smith and Connors have managed this quietly and decided to get to Geelong, there’s every chance the first Beveridge and the Bulldogs will know about it will be on day one of trade period when Smith announces his wish to get to Geelong.

If that’s how it all plays out then Connors and Geelong will already know what it needs to look like. And Connors will know he’ll get his player to where he wants. It’s just how it works. The fact Connors is involved is a very good ace up Geelong’s sleeve.

He gets deals done.

Will be lucky to be on a list in 18 months
Maybe, but I hope it's ours. It would mean that he has played games , proved his worth, and impressed.
He is very dynamic, and exactly what we lack.

On what we have seen so far ... willis has just as much upside if not more. Kroeger has to stay fit and dominate because he will not be given the type of grooming allowance that someone like Clark will.
Talent and dynamism- FK wins.
Durability, luck and runs on the board, Willis just. Willis has had his own battles.

Talking about injury-challenged chaps my missus and I were thinking about Linc McCarthy today - as you do on GF eve.

The point being that some players do achieve great careers after a few years of injury. Jamie Elliot comes to mind as well.

So I for one am hoping that Willis and Kroeger will furnish in to good players for the Mighty Cats.

Bailey Smith story was never going away.

Why? Because anyone with any clout connected to the club knows exactly what the primary focus was a long time ago.

No guarantees with these deals, but make no mistake, if Geelong gets its way Smith will be out of the Bulldogs within weeks.

Stay tuned

As per usual, do not care if true. I'm all in

You can hit ctrl+f on your post and replace with Dunkley to Essendon and the logic holds though

This time last year, we were hoping for Conor McKenna, or I was anyway.
Now he lines up as a pivotal player as a HBF, and is EXACTLY the type of player we crave.
Hoping MOC can keep improving, and / or Oisin keeps developing.
CMcK is my sneaky tip for a NS.

Just feels like there's too much smoke now for this not to happen.

- JJ's sources

- Edmund's sources

- Barrett's comments on multiple occasions

- Cotton On connection

- Mackie's comments on dealing our pick(s)

- Scott's comments on needing to re-tool the midfield

- Supposed 'ITK posters’ on the Doggies board.

- Smith conveniently getting 'sick' for the Geelong game.

Heck, even asking for the huge unrealistic return on the Sav trade so we can satisfy the Dogs.

It feels inevitable now, just whether the Dogs go down the Dunkley path again.

You and I have differing definitions of inevitable

We may have been hoping, but it's been stated that we were never in the McKenna sweepstakes.

The media just caught wind that we were after an Irishman (Mullin) and put 2 & 2 together and ended up with 5.
