We have cap space. Offer him $700K for 7 years. If the kid wants to stay at Port they’ll be lumped with a big contract whilst trying to retain the rest of their talented young list.

If we entice him to leave then so be it. Offer the same as what we will receive for Sav.

Ollie Lord on 700k for 7 years is screwing no one over expect the Geelong Football Club

I don't see the reason to make stupid list decisions just to piss off Port.

It's immature and beneath our club, and often times it'd the club retaliating who look like idiots in the long run in these instances.

I'm one of Lord's biggest fans...but 700k over 7 years is ridiculous money on what he's shown so far.

He'd have to have at minimum a 40 goal year next year to even be close to that ballpark.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.

He has a bit of talent but not enough to be getting away with the stuff he does.

Hawks are wild if they take him but good luck to them.
He has zero talent imo.

If you're talking about Lord, I still don't get how Port get lumped with some hypothetical big contract

Next year will be Lord's 4th year in the system, and while he's currently out of contract, that's simply the extent of it - he's out of contract, he's not a free agent. If Lord is happy to look at his options next year and we offer then 7 years at $700k, then it's us who's going to be paying that

At the same time, if Lord decides he'd rather stay at Port & Port are happy to offer him a new deal, then it's done so on terms they agree upon - nothing to do with any deal offered by any other club

If there's no trade agreed upon between Geelong & Port by close of business tomorrow, Ratugolea can then decide if he wants to stay at Geelong or enter the draft. If he decides to stay, we negotiate a contract at the stage - it doesn't have to be for the same deal as what Port has offered

He'll fizzle out in a couple years. Jack Higgins - who's a much better footballer - had his 15 minutes of fame too, and is almost a nobody at St Kilda these days.

Happens all the time, particularly with small forwards. They have their flash in the pan year and get the Milne, Betts & Greene comparisons, and they end up nowhere a couple years later.

Here’s hoping your post does not apply to Tyson Stengle

Wasn’t there somebody here who said Kingy wouldn’t leave Gold Coast because he likes the local area?

When old mate “ITK” said he likes the Coast did you mean the South Coast? Lol
That was me. Only relaying what his uncle told me a few weeks ago. Maybe he got an offer he couldn't refuse.

Josh Jenkins just said on Trade Radio that Jack Billings is interested in coming to the Cats, but the Cats aren't necessarily interested in him.

Salary apparently a key question (we might take him but we don't want to pay him anywhere near what he has been paid at St Kilda).

3 way trade.

Hey don’t worry mate I’m only stirring haha.

No doubt in my mind he got big money to come back and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was happy to stay up there but then things changed when Dimma came in. I’d imagine he feels he can be “next in line” when Scotty hangs it up soon. Plus he can provide great insight to our club as he did back in the day as a leader.

Gonna be huge for Conway as well.

Interesting. I quite like Billings. If St K was willing to pay a chunk of his salary to get him off the books, and trade him for a token pick, I’d be all over this.

Harsh on Higgins. He's a 2 goal/assist a game small forward since he went to the Saints.

Unless you just mean going to the Saints makes you a nobody, which...I guess is fair enough?

Would be all over him for a token pick if they’re going to pay some of his wage

Yeah I agree.

Has been very underwhelming at St Kilda for a long time, but they seem to make it a habit of taking high potential kids and turning them into mediocre players. He strikes me as one who has (had?) the ability and could be a lot better in a different environment. But it's definitely a big risk so I'd only do it if he cost next to nothing.

Even if we only get the offered pick from Port. I can ser why we held out for more. We have made this trade period very difficult for them...
