I don't think sprinter like pace is required, but you did need a functional ability to cover grass when needed. When you are at such an elite level, minor difference between players can have a large difference in outcome. Its finger nail stuff.
First 20m sprint is useful to have. Also top speed, when overlap running is required - outside players and flankers. Along with endurance/repeat sprint combo.

However, I have seen, and me included, people being fast on an athletics track, and not so fast (or much reduced performance) on the footy field.

With Adel that being the case, they will want to consolidate 2 picks this year rather than offering a FF as part of any trade it would appear.

Edit - you’d think it will be 8 and 25 for their first 3 picks if we do a trade.

Possibly although it depends if they delist a contracted player.
I think 10 and 20 for 8 is fair so that trade would be a bit too in our favour. We would maybe need to throw back a future 2nd or 3rd to even up (im assuming they want futures).

The interesting thing that Leake said in an interview, was he rated "Charlie Edwards"... And they are somewhat similar players, but Leake is a bit more classy. I'd like to take both. Would inject good speed and finishing. I'd be happy with either tbh. Would depend if we trade Pick 8. I think Leake will be available around Pick 15 tbh.

Don't forget that Hardie is also on the rookie list, and is being re-signed for next season

Ahh right, so then I guess we had 4 Cat A and 2 Cat B, and now we'll have a 3/3 split with Furphy in/Riccardi out.

Basically means we won't take picks in the rookie draft, and all our additions will be senior list as we don't look to be upgrading according to that article.

I think the players that have both have high appeal... one reason a player like Windsor haas edge close to the top 10

For a draft who has been rated "on the nose" by many ... having multiple picks in that 10-25 range would seem to me of not being bad...when we need multiple list additions.

Saw the below in another thread. It's insane to me that Delean only just scrapes in. His numbers this year have been comparable with Watson's, and he's 11cm taller. He's even played SANFL league and kicked goals. I hope we get him at 25 if he's there.
He seems to be there twice, at 34 and then at the end.

Kane Tenace. Rarely did you see him running free in space, it did happen but not often, he's pace certainly wasn't his defining move.

Wojo on the other hand.

Nah, we had this discussion a while back, but, you're allowed to have 6 rookies on your list. In recent times, they changed it so you could have 3 Cat B and 3 Cat A Rooks, as opposed to only the 2 with 4 Cat A. Means we probably just keep Mullin and Clohesy as is, now that we've added Furphy.

Also means that we probably do take 5 ND picks this year and leave two for the SSP/DFA, meaning we may still keep Kroeger or delist - giving us 7 free senior list spots and 1 free CAT A rookie spot:

Senior out (6 free, possibly 7):

Kroeger (Pending)
Menegola
Ceglar
Ratugolea
Simpson
Whyte
I. Smith

Rookie out:

Riccardi

Rookie list split (1 free):

Cat A -

Dempsey
Murdoch

Cat B -

Mullin
Clohesy
Furphy

Hardie is on the rookie list too. See below the summary and full list.

Jeremy Sharp delisted from Suns. I know people have raised him here before. He didn't get a lot of opportunity at the Suns and could be a free hit for us rather than pick 100 in the draft. But I guess he is more likely to go back to WA?

There are reasons he wasn't obtained so far.
I doubt we hear of him in 2 years time.
He has other problems to work out.
But good luck to the young fellow.
