I wonder if he will still be a strong option for Tas in 2028 if he stays at Geelong. COS is going top be hard to remove now…looks so good. With SDek and COS ..add JHenry and Stewart and ZGuthrie … you need a couple of small types. Maybe COS or Sdek play elsewhere but it looks tight for a role.

This from Cal Twomey makes things a little more interesting in regards to JK - so he's agreed to the contract extension but this makes it sound like it hasn't yet been signed

I've put the question to the Krock crew to seek clarity on where he sits in terms of contract status

Pies have 4 blokes F/S and NGA that they need to have picks/points for.

That on top of trying to get Petracca?
No idea how they do it

I read this it sounds like they will have a few options …. but more to the point … our nga looks like he might be draft worthy and needs monitoring

1 - Tom Evans (Bendigo Pioneers) – 150
2 - Adam Sweid (Calder Cannons) – 131
3 - Thomas McGuane (Western Jets) – 126
4 - Marlon Neocleous (Gippsland Power) – 120
5 - Jaidi Jackson-Leahy (Bendigo Pioneers) – 114
6 - Jesse Mellor (Geelong Falcons) – 113
7 - Jai Saxena (Oakleigh Chargers) – 111
8 - Kye Fincher (Sandringham Dragons) – 110
9 - Callum Smith (GWV Rebels) – 108
10 - Hugh White (Northern Knights) – 108

If you only need internal validation, why come onto an anonymous internet forum telling everyone how smart you were for predicting that Bailey Smith will be good? That seems like the absolute definition of seeking external validation. But hey, whatever gets you up in the morning, keep doing you.

If you look at the game review thread from Fridays game you will see a post I made saying aspects of smiths game have surprised me (on the upside). This was well before you decided to take a victory lap because one of your “ITK” predictions came true. I was happy to admit that I may have underestimated smiths upside.

I will also say that he has played 4 games, is still wearing a big ass strapping on his surgically repaired knee, and the risk in him still remains. It is a long season, and his contract has a long way to run.

Funnily enough you haven’t mentioned any of the many “ITK” predictions that you made that went nowhere.

Keep that maturity level high.
Which ones were I wrong on? I said we were into Davies and then it came out we were.

I said we were into Oliver before any media said and I persisted and gave in depth detail to how we were chasing him and where he was at according to his teammates.

I even gave intel into ANB leaving to Adelaide even though that’s not to do with here.

Where have I said player A is a lock to us and it hasn’t come off?

I even said last year we are into Harley Reid early and if midway through this season they’re going bad things will start ruffling. Twomey reporting we are into him.

What big call have I made that was awful and wrong?

You keep going at me because you think I’m a poser. I come here to give some intel on things I hear. I don’t claim to be in a position of power on the board at Geelong. I just have multiple sources and I relay for fellow fans entertainment and interest. I’m also just a fan, I’m not above anybody. I’m not special. Someone heard a rumour in a hair salon and they were bang on ffs, that’s brilliant intel. And guess what, I loved hearing it! This is a thread about rumours on trading and drafting. If it drives you crazy to have speculation on that, I suggest maybe this isn’t the thread for you.

And as far as his performance goes, it was just an entire season of you being irritating and annoying about Bailey Smith and quite frankly narrow minded and dumb, bringing up his personal life and how he is a woeful fit. Don’t downplay it now. You went all in on it for months and months on how bad it was, how it wouldn’t happen, how if it did we will regret it. It was such a focal point, don’t backpedal now and play the sensible fence sitter. You want to try and have a personal dig at me because you can’t conceptualise someone might receive intel, that’s on you.

It’s a shame I’m even having to go through this once I have proven myself on here over and over and it’s a baptism of fire dropping ITK shit because there is no grand prize. I play high stakes poker for a living and have a thrilling life with lots of extremes. And you think this is how I get my rocks off? It’s just a nice outlet for other fans to have some info.

I’m not going to make it personal and accuse you of anything as you have with me but man, the picture you create of yourself on this forum is one of a grumpy, miserable, lonely old coot who is just that little bit too afraid to kick the chair. I’m not going to be respond or give you the privilege of my time in the future as there’s nothing positive to come from discussing football with someone like yourself.

2026 …so only another year…its reads like the club wanted him for another 12 months to cover COS development but he probably has surprised them. Geelong will probably honour the offer … he is a flag player and you only need an injury or two and things look different but …as it stands ..where does he fit in the side going forward. I wonder if he can get multiple years like 2 or 3 elsewhere then maybe he looks at his options.

You are right that Oliver is only one part of their over all issues. Melbs problems seem multi faceted. Starting with the non playing facilities. The fluffed around with so many ideas yet noting has really been actuated. I think the last I heard was at Caufield racecourse. Is that still planned to happen? Is there any club in the afl with a worse setup atm. I see the Crows are getting a new100M facility. Then CEO and president etc. ..If the majority of the staff needs to be sacked..but who sacks them. and after Bartlett situation ..good luck getting money people to buy in.
The crows facilities are still a half demolished train wreck and have been since the Adelaide oval redevelopment was finished. I actually feel sorry for them driving past.

Their thebarton digs will be really good though

Your post history is easy to check you know?

The last time you mentioned Davies before there was a rumour published about us being into him you said:

"Anyway, I hope we chase him, I haven’t heard of any solid rumours anyway."

So where did you say we were into him?

And there's no evidence we were into him. If you believe every rumour then we were into half the comp.

Remember when we were going to trade up in the draft cause we were desperate for the ruckman that we then passed on? The media know sweet FA about what Geelong are actually up to.

The new ones ..are the ones I was referencing. 100M is what I read. Where does Melb try to match that? Do they even have a location locked in?

Yeah I was just saying they'll probably find something. Crows have taken ten years and I don't think they've broken ground

Melb … stopped being the sole tennant at the MCG in the 1960’s. Maybe they should have grabbed Junction Oval or tried to get somewhere else. Whats happening to Haws area..thats probably not the worst option but I think its going to NRL Storm for them to train on. Could tehy try to do a Deakin and build something on a Uni. Its probably very tough trying to find land in Melb.

Fair call on the Crows time line but it looks like they will end up with something decent. Maybe tehy should add seats and set it up for the AFLW … and then have the ability to use it for the Gather round.

Very glad to be a Geelong supporter

The continual Alex Davies love is bizarre.

He's already 23 and he's playing VFL at a team who have never made finals. And he's not dominating the VFL either.

He's received 21 VFL coaches votes in 12 games (1.75 votes per game) since the start of 2024.

Knevitt is 9 months younger than Davies. Clohesy and Clark are both 2.5 years younger. Since the start of 2024 they have received the following VFL coaches votes (excluding finals since I can't find any votes for them):

Knevitt - 39 votes in 14 games (2.8 votes per game).
Clohesy - 45 votes in 15 games (3 per game).
Clark - 16 votes in 7 games (2.3 per game).

We've already got 3 much younger potential inside mids with more development in them outperforming Davies at VFL level. Chances are bringing him in would just be a wasted list spot.

What are you talking about? He had 32 disposals, 8 clearances and 11 inside 50's, against the Casey Demons - a very good VFL side.

He's actually taken some huge steps forward this year. Tank is better. Disposal is better. Put on a little bit size and harder to tackle. And he genuinely was dominant in the first half against the Saints a few weeks back.

Hasn't stalled at all, lol.
Clark has definitely improved. A navicular in his first year would have meant he lost a year of strength and conditioning

Next year is the make or break year for Clark.

If he isn't fully entrenched into the best 22 by then.
That is when i would worry.

I expect him by years end to be almost a lock in the best 22 if he continues to improve.
For now i would give him a solid month in the VFL playing nothing but pure mid and let him knock the door off last game was a great start.

Specifically … what do you mean go hard for him. Offer hm the typeof money the Saints are offering TDek? Id say he will get good offers from any club that he signals he wants to play for. Id say for him the best offers will happen when he hits FA. Another two years at GC … then if they are still not a legit flag side he can look at his options. Id love him at Geelong just cant see it with GC’s current form.
Until he puts pen to paper I think it’s always going to remain an option. Our midfield lacks a genuine hard contested midfielder to dig into the in and under work. Holmes and smith aren’t these types. What Atkins did on Thursday showed how badly we need this type of mid, and Rowell is the best in the league at it.

I mean go hard at convincing him to come to geelong, offer him a lucrative contract, and if he nominates us… get the deal done

With jack Henry lacking durability and blicavs coming to an end, I still think we should keep him

How good is Jesse mellor and rongdit looking?? What draft ranges??

I think you are referring to me. If so, just come out and name me. I am a big boy, I can take it.

When you do, please find a post where I said smith was a crap player, or that I hope he failed. I specifically said that I hoped he is good

What I did say was that he is a not-insignificant risk given his injury history, indifferent recent form and mental health problems. After 5 games he remains a risk.

His start to time at Geelong has been good. Happy days

You mentioned earlier that you would be happy to pay a very high cost for Reid (>$1.6mil/year and multiple first rounders from memory).

Do you not see significant risk in that also given Reid has less runs on the board, is showing a level of disinterest/unprofessionalism atm (subjective, but has been mentioned), and the stated cost is much, much higher than what we paid for Smith? Serious question, not trolling.

Agree, and suddenly things don't look as clear cut regarding the notable forwards drafted that year

Forwards -
Ollie Henry: 75 games, 110 goals, ave 1.5 per game
JUH: 67 games, 103 goals, ave 1.5 per game
Logan Mcdonald: 70 games, 93 goals, ave 1.4 per game
Josh Treacy: 60 games, 85 goals, ave 1.3 per game
Riley Thilthorpe: 58 games, 73 goals, ave 1.3 per game

And here's a few of the midfielders from the same year
Midfielders -
Errol Gulden: 93 games, ave 22.7 disposals, 63 goals, ave 0.7 per game (0 games this year, 27.1 disposals last year)
Archie Perkins: 83 games, ave 13.7 disposals, 50 goals, ave 0.6 per game (18.7 disposals this year)
Max Holmes: 81 games, ave 18.8 disposals, 39 goals, ave 0.5 per game (24.2 disposals this year)

This highlights that OHenry is perhaps a bit undervalued by some around here. But at the same time if offered a straight swap for Thilthorpe or Treacy, I'm doing it in a heartbeat. Probably JUH too if it weren't for the off field issues.

I think of he's not entrenched next year it'll be a set back but I expect him to be on the list the year after regardless

Most interesting though:
- Jake Kolodjashnij UFA 🤨🤨🤨

From 9 Oct 2024:
Geelong has received a quadruple boost with Jake Kolodjashnij, Jed Bews,Lawson Humphries and Ted Clohesy signing new deals with the Club.

Both 2022 Premiership players, Kolodjashnij (end of 2026) and Bews (end of 2025) have extended their time after playing key roles in Geelong’s run to a Preliminary Final in 2024.

If I was North, and I was trying to bring in some experince or IP down back, he'd be one I target. Can't image he'd be that expensive

Turned out they were solid enough. Anyway, you can see from there I’m not talking s**t.
