Let’s say both Reid and Butters stay at their clubs next year. I don’t image we could bring both in at once at the end of 2026, from trade assets and/or salary (Port will match). Now it would be a great problem to have if they both picked Geelong. We can dream hey!

Long way to go, but if we land Worpel, one of Reid/Butters, Conway holds up, then we have all bases covered for a sustained run. The only hole is someone to replace Jezza in a few years.

If he continues to struggle and the WA footy public falls out of love with him (it has started already) then it won’t cost what you propose.

It won’t be cheap, but the last few months have made it much more palatable for WC fans to accept him leaving. That will drop the price.

However unless we bottom out in the next few years our 2026 first pick will be in the teens and our 2027 first pick could be mid 20s
So can’t see anyway WC will let him go for our three first round picks.

WC know why he is performing the way he is so l very much doubt they will accept a lot less than what Melb offered them for pick one in his draft year

I wonder if Geelong will put Conway or Edwards on the long term injury list before the MSD? If the club is taking a long term approach, is it worth maybe putting Edwards on that list and maybe looking at a Mature Age ruckman? As Stanley 35 and is on his lat year, Blitz is 34 and as much as durable he is we can't put it all on him?

I don't really get the fuss about Cadman. Admittedly I haven't seen a lot of GWS games, but what I've seen hasn't impressed me all that much. Maybe check back in in 5 years or so and see where he's at.

thats the thing about player potential, if in 5 years he had multiple 60 goal seasons, how much capital do you think gws will demand? sometimes just need to take a chance and be ahead of the curve.

Why would we want him, he has been atrocious since he left us, even got dropped from the worst team in the league this year, the guys almost finished.

Nah I haven’t heard anything beyond the obvious that he is not happy. He hasn’t been happy with his role and criticism he has received. From a football perspective it’s so easy for us to see he played that “finisher” role for us. Was always on the end of plays. Now the expectation is for him to extract. Thought he was going west to compete etc. wouldn’t shock me at all if he wanted the move but would we even want him? He looks so bad now. Maybe we could see him playing as a high half forward who pushes up to the contest. But hard to see him fitting into the mix with how fast we move the ball now.

Plus, the issue of his wife. It would be fascinating if he signed for one year with a second year contract to be triggered as part of the Reid deal but I’m struggling to see it.

Surely we wouldn't give up 5 picks and only get Reid .. we would have to get some lower picks back in return

I have a firm belief that if a St Kilda type chases one of your players and offers a stupidly big contract, you should almost encourage your player to walk. Tell them to insist on baked in increase locked in as cap increases.
