2025 AFL Draft and Trade Dates:

Fri Oct 3 - Fri Oct 10: 2025 Free Agency Period
Mon Oct 6 - Wed Oct 15: 2025 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period
Wed Nov 19 - Thu Nov 20: 2025 Telstra AFL Draft

Shouldn’t be going any higher than the deal for Curnow. He wants to come, contracts mean sweet FA, and 3 firsts despite being late is enough.
we paid that for prime Jez despite being out of contract Vs contract, I believe it’s still the same as stated above contracts mean nothing.

Hopefully gets done we know Mackie and the team will play hard ball.

I think even the biggest Geelong haters have given up on the idea of the cliff and have settled on "defying gravity by cheating". Cope cope cope.
Even an internal audit that involved a six year span thst took our CEO’s mobilr and laptop away resulted in uncovering small third party agreements with our AFLW side not being properly lodged administratively.
And our AFLW side has not rven been successful.

Literally clean as a whistle the mens side

Unfortunately this contract means a bit and with the tas compromised draft i dont think they take our offer.

I don't know, if a team offered us 3 picks in the 20s for a contracted holmes id be telling em contracts mean everything.

Doesn't bother me, he's probably having a few final beers before his move up to Sydney next week
In any case getting some quality picks will help with the rebuild and work out nicely with FS prospects developing. A timely refresh for the Blues sounds better than keeping disgruntled mature players for a stint in no man's land.

Just dont see how they keep him. It’s not a world beater but it’s good enough. It’s three firsts
I’d say Carlton are banking on a). Sydney to put in an extraordinarily good offer and b). Curnow to actually agree to go to them.

Otherwise we’ll either get him or they keep a disgruntled player on their books.

Even if Holmes was about to turn 29, had suspect knees, badly wanted out, and we were nowhere near playing finals? 🤔

Our single biggest issue is getting the ball out of the middle.

RS isn't a superstar but he's solid enough that I think he'd bring Atkins, Worpel, Bruhn into the game.

He'd also buy us the time to bring on Conway and / or Edwards.

I see it as much the same as when we get Cameron in the first place. Adding a forward of that level changes it for us..

Not 3 normal firsts. They can just hold him to his contract.

Overrated, no way

absolutely he is ..in comparison to CC.

Marshall is at best in the 2nd tier of rucks in the league. Would I like him on our list, sure , especially as a FA but out of the two players being discussed Id pick CC without any doubt.

No it's not 😂

The issues/problems found included the mens side:

The league found multiple examples of deals not disclosed or lodged late across the AFL and AFLW programs.

Essentially it was an administrative issue, rather than a breach of total player payments - but there definitely times that third party dealings with players associated with the mens team should have been lodged or lodged earlier but weren't

Statistically speaking over this year Marshall was easily in the top 5 rucks in the league and at times only behind Gawn, Xerri and Grundy depending on which stat you wanted.

Hilarious that the Saints want him spending time predominantly forward with TDK in the ruck because this is just Gawn/Grundy at Melbourne all over.
RM is a very good ruck who can dip forward for a goal here and there, its not like Ottens.

But RM in our team IMMEDIATELY raises the ceiling, we haven't had a ruckman of his quality since Ottens.

Ok so the issue was it wasn't lodged correctly, not that the deals had issues??

Seems a storm in a teacup

Basically some minor freebies weren't disclosed in a timely fashion. I'd be surprised if other clubs haven't had similar oversight. No actual TPP breaches or salary cap being broken.
The Western Bulldogs copped a 20k fine, all suspended, for this in 2022 and the Brisbane Lions copped a 10k fine, 5k suspended, for the same in 2017.

Whats funny is the mouthbreather supporters trying to compare it to Carlton who got done for salary cap cheating and brown paper bags in 2003, or Adelaide who got a 300k fine etc for the Tippett scandal that was overpaying Tippett outside the cap and draft tampering.

And I would imagine in the next 5 years we will see ANOTHER club when audited get the same as we have.

We live in a society (wspecially those politically leaning left and younger people) who like to frame society as success is due to opression or corruption.. Not hard work.

Hard work and competence is never accepted anymore as a reason for success. It doesnt exist and is an excuse or cop out.

This leads to anger resentment victimhood etc etc which we even see amongst supporters in the AFL.

Example- geelong have inequities giving them an advantage... Geelong have an unfair stadium advantage... Geelong have a trading and player aquisition advantage... Geelong cheat with hocking bla bla ( more bitter stuff) but its always back to that same logic.. That success is inequality based, not competency based

I am a strong believer that doubling down on your strength is a very sound strategy.
...
Yep. Doubling down on your strengths is better than papering over your weaknesses. Especially when we have the technical nous to harness that in spades.
