2025 AFL Draft and Trade Dates:

Fri Oct 3 - Fri Oct 10: 2025 Free Agency Period
Mon Oct 6 - Wed Oct 15: 2025 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period
Wed Nov 19 - Thu Nov 20: 2025 Telstra AFL Draft

Never thought we'd get Curnow or Marshall. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that opposition clubs have agreed never to let us get their contracted players so that we can get even better. I can't prove that, but I feel it. Might just be all in my head, though.

Mackie in the corridors Wednesday night was friendless.

I can say with reliability that you underrate draft picks.

Yes but the thought of round one pick you will receive a player ready to go. That’s far from the case in reality.

We’ve been lucky in the draft, but saying overs in regard to getting a ruck who’s still competing extremely well at the top of his game is hilarious.

Known quantity versus the unknown. A few don’t grasp that.

That's why I literally only listed picks in the 1st and early 2nd rounds.

I think your opinion made more sense 10 years ago when drafting was less of a science. At the moment we're tracking at a rate of every 2nd player being a career player. The fact that a fellow poster had to mention Thurlow as a rebuttal kinda proves the point.

Worth sacrificing for Cameron, not for Marshall.

I don't think I've ever said this, but we're being completely moronic if that's the case.

Maybe Bews at a stretch if he's on the rookie list as depth. I don't hate that idea.

Expecting Cam to play again and going through this charade for the fourth year in a row is more than fools gold, it's complete delusion.
With Cam it all boils down to the medical advice doesn't it? If it's optimistic, then why not keep him on? He's the absolute professional and team player. I don't imagine he would keep going if it was going to hurt the team.

That fellow was me. 😂

You didn’t mention Cooper Stephens or Darcy Lang. So was it a science 5 years ago? FMD. 😂

There was a number of other first round misses also, so there you go I guess.

He's coming up 34, and hasn't played for what.....3 years?

I get your point about the medical advice etc, but it's hard to see how he'll stand up to the rigours of footy given his record with injury and absence from competitive footy for so long.

It's been over 500 days since he last played a senior football match

I think you should be allowed to match only if your offer was within a certain % (e.g. 10%) of the rival offer. You cannot criminally undervalue and then miraculously find the money under cushions etc.
I mean under the rules you can because gws matched Cameron with cap room they didn't really have.

The body often lets down the ambitions of the mind he's cooked time to withdraw gracefully.
