Gibbs v Leuenberger

Haha, Murphy has nothing to do with this poll. Frankly, I am over him, good luck with Murphy. This is just a poll about the two 'best' players from the 2006 draft.

Brisbane have always drafted best available. Obviously there was all this hype around Leuenberger, and he did have a very impressive championship, wheras Selwood hadn't even played in them! So it was going to always be a juggle between the once-in-a-decade ruck or Thorp, an impressive tall player.
Also, for a ruckman to come in in his first season and show so much upside and skills is amazing. He beat the likes of Richards, Seaby and Aickland (not that it matters, he is a hack) in the last few weeks. It usually takes a ruckmen a few seasons to even gear up to play senior football.

That post, bar the links, is quite pointless, IMO.

Im sick off all this Gibbs bashing , remember not all #1 draft picks r guns in there first year. A few examples:

Luke Hodge- Was drafted in 2001 i think and never really played good football until 2004/5

Adam Cooney- Was terrible in 2004 when he got drafted and now look at him he is probably the most dangerous player for the doggys.

Give gibbs some time just remember 5 months ago he was 17 y.o so still a young kid and he will come good!

Gibbs should be a good player, but I always rated Leuenberger number one and doubt that Carlton would have gone for Gibbs if not for all the pre-draft hype. The Berg was the standout player IMO in the championships and will turn out to be the best of the draft.

At the moment Gibbs reminds me of Fiora in his first 4-5 years. Too skinny, not confident and pulling out of physical contests. They both would have looked much better if they were playing in a decent team. Obviously Gibbs should turn out better than Fiora (even though Fizz has had a very good season this year), but there are some strong similarities.
