Chris Connolly should give a tagging job to Gilmore i reckon, just tell him we dont care if he doesnt touch the ball just make sure your opponent doesnt get it.

I have been one to crucify Gilmore lately, if he going to play, why not try a new role for him. Cant hurt his game at the moment, not exactly setting anything alight. Throw him onto Embley this week see how he goes for a Quarter, if it fails Dodd can go back on him...

What does everyone think???

Might as well put him on Kerr or Judd. Hopefully his clumsiness might give them an injury if he lands on them weird or something. I'll go with your idea for now, tag someone using gilmore, make Dodd a ball getter?

Hell no! That would be a disaster in his current frame of mind. Gilmore has been cr*P agreed but he does have an uncanny knack of finding the ball. I think he is worth a bit of persistence and I think you'll see he will be a very versatile player towards the middle of the season, he just needs a bit of confidence.

OK Im hiding now so fire away!:D

WTF??

Gilmore's biggest (some say only) asset is that seems to find a fair bit of the ball, as evidenced in the Essendon game.

Accountability is definitely not his strong suit.

Gilmore was asked to tag Goodes once, it didnt end well. His main job should be to run out water to the players.

Not too many can stop Goodes tho... I realise he wont be a Steven Baker but id like to see something different to be tried with Gilmore. He seems outclassed i guess is the word once he gets to AFL level.

In fairness to Happy, he did start very very badly , but did improve in the 2nd half.

I don't think he missed a target in the 2nd half , just blotted his copy book giving away the 50 in frustration.

The was He was held out of the contest it should have been his free kick.

Ask any souths fan about the defensive pressure Gilmore has shown while playing for the bulldogs.

Thing is he was asked to do a job on Goodes but was to interested in his own stats to do it.

Gilmores stats in that game; 17 kicks, 8 marks and a goal. Not bad on paper, that was round 12 and he didnt play again for that season. He should go and have a chat to Kane Johnson about doing the team thing.

Or ask Roger Hayden how he went about holding Phil Matera when he was given the ultimatum. Stop phil or its your career was the words used....

Ok, i think the general consensus is that gilmore is pretty much useless, and i agree. the main reason i think they persist with him is because he has a long raking kick and he seems to find the ball a bit, he seems soft, he doesnt take pack marks and he doesnt kick goals, the one time, he was asked to do a job, as was previously stated, he only cared about his own stats, while goodes carved. i agree with pistol on this one, if they insist on playing him, then tell him to do a job, if he does it, then he gets another gig, if he doesnt, then his career is over and finally us paying members and supporters dont have to see his worthless, rude head in our jumper again. everyone is a winner. Personally though, this ploy worked with roger because it woke him up and he was able to use his talent, i dont think gilmore has got the talent to use, so we'll have to wait and see.

It'd probably take more than a few words to get the best out of Daniel. A few volts up the jacksie is what I had in mind.

But if you're going to run Glimour as a tagger, you might might as well put Byron at full-forward once he returns. It makes more sense.

And just for Scham ... because he knows how modest I am ... I'd make a better tagger than Gilmore. In fact I wouldn't mind a run. I'd like to tag Daniel Kerr. I'd just snot him every chance I could get, and try to do a John Hopoate with that car aerial I smuggled onto the ground. Or is that OTT?

Anway, moving on....

Perhaps if they play Gilmore in his normal position (wing) instead of ruck, tagger, defender, bench then he may both develop some confidence and also consistency.
There are players who can't get dropped no matter what: and then there are players who can't get a consistent gig.
Are Gilly's defensive stats any better or worse than say Des?
He is a consistent ball winner and goal scorer for South on the wing but I can't recall him ever getting that spot.

Dont get me started on Des "dud" Headland.....

After being away for a few years and returning to Perth this year, Had no idea Gilmour was Docker Fans Enemy no:1...

Watching from afar I always thought he was good value. But reading some of the posts on here, maybe I am wrong. But in saying that he is not a regular 22 game per year player and gets his few games a year. Others who play more often should cop the the same if not more negative comments than Happy does.

Read some posts i have about Headland who is a regular 22 game player. One of the top money earners per season at the club yet hasnt been in the top ten of a best and fairest since he been here. Ive also got into walker a bit in the past.

I don't think they'd let you wear your leather pants onto the field Doc! Unless you wrote a medical note for yourself stating it was for medical purposes.

Taggers need to be good tacklers, which I don't think Happy is.

If Gilmore plays and his disposal is as poor as last week he may cop the Schammer style bronx cheers.

Sadly, not a medical Doctor. I'm not even a Doctor ... yet ... touch wood it'll be about 12 weeks away.

I only waer the lederhosen at home. And my spandex is just for show. And what a show it is. :D

Another shocker from Gilmore, the amount of times he either turns it over, drops the mark or loses his feet is amazing. Such a sub-standard player for AFL, yet that just sums up Freo at the moment. Very sub-standard.

Not bagging our midfield are you? You've already had a crack at Walker and Gilmore. Plus a crack at people who have a crack at our midfield! Anymore crack and we'd have a couple of WC players in the team.

Just saw this one. LOL :)

In case you dont know, levity vill not be tolerated. :p
