Goal with first kick

Sorry if this has been done before, I certainly haven't seen it. I was looking for an official record of players who scored a goal with their first kick in VFL/AFL. Not even the mighty Blueseum can help. I can recall a few that I have seen - Gibbs, Setanta, Waite (first 2 kicks?), Ratts, Matty Allan. I'm really only interested in Carlton players, although obviously there are heaps from other clubs as well. Who else? Also, has any poor bugger hit the post with his first kick?

Neil Chandler kicked goals with his first 2 kicks in VFL football & of course Clen Denning kicked goals with his first 6 kicks in VFL football, way back in 1935.

I think Spiro Kourkoumelis did with his one and only kick on debut Vs Melb in 1981. It was a handball over the top from Ken Sheldon in front of the Heatley Stand if my memory serves me correctly.

I dont know if this counts but I also think that Craig Devonport (ex Saint) kicked 2 goals from his only 2 kicks in the solitary game that he played for the Blues in 1996.

Either u know Mark or you have an incredible memory. Yes he did kick a goal with his first kick, i was there he roved the pack at CHF and ran onto his left foot and kicked it at the scoreboard end at PP. How do i know? i went to school with Mark at Coburg Tech.

Its just one of those quirky little things that stick in your mind from time to time. I can still picture it as I was at the other end of the ground in the Heatley Stand, it was a very classy first up effort.

Its like I will always remember that Matty Allan's first kick was a goal as my older brother marked it in the Heatley Stand.

My memory must be slipping as I thought that Simon Wiggins also kicked a goal with his first kick in 2001 when he ran off the bench and took a big mark in front of a pack in front of the Heatley Stand. Blueseum says that it was his second kick, I am not going to argue that fact with them!!!

Well, I learnt something today. That was when I just started fully following the game so, at least I have a valid excuse.

He was brought on late in the second quarter when the game was well & truly over & basically played at full forward. He only had 5 mins on the field during that time, but he made some good leads, got into the right position, but for some reason his teammates ignored him. Certainly not the ideal game to make your debut in.

I don't know Mark or have a particularly good memory but that is the one goal with a first kick that sticks in my mind. Must be some sort of trigger thing that occurred in the right era for my brain to absorb and remember.

We won that Rieniets game over the Roos 133-103. I used to keep most winning games on tape so there is a chance I have a rather worn copy of it stored away. Surely some others would have it too? I will check in the coming days.
