If Bennell, Matera and McKenzie all come back it should be a good contest, I hope so anyway.

I don't know who we can use to stop Pav in the middle, he is too big, strong and skilled (a real superstar of the game) I would think that we would be better off just playing an extra mid rather than tagging and try to get first use of the ball.

Actually @Iva we are all rather hoping Pav plays down forward where he seems to do alright at kicking goals. Your mob will slaughter us at clearances anyway as we don't have Mundy or (probably) Barlow, the only 2 who seem to do any good at clearances.

Matera, Harris, Bennel, Mckenzie and Dixon are all supposed to be coming in this week end. Taking out probably the 5 weakest players out of a team that took it right up to the bullies. On top of this at our current fitness level Matera, Mckenzie, Harris and Bennel would all make our 22.

Clearance kings v a team without their No 1. ruckmen and their two best midfielders :(

Looks like a massive danger game to me?? Why is everyone so confident?

I agree, the current odds are insane IMO. I'd have it Fremantle $1.30 v Gold Coast $3.

If he does play forward Bock will play on him and he was BOG last week so it could be a great contest. No one can stop Pav but if Bock can keep him to 3 goals we may have a chance.

Having said that if it rains you will destroy us, we have only played in the rain once (against the Roos) and we were tre ordanair

Lynch being rested, not so bad given the likely rain. id keep weller in for lynch.

Hope he's not! He has the stickiest hands ever! 5pm just can't come quick enough. :D

No way Weller is in. He's a confirmed out.

If Lynch and Bennel arent playing it is a massive plus!

If its raining Bennel would chop, if its not Lynch would.

Rischitelli out for the suns...bonus for us as well

Matera, Day, McKenzie, Gorringe and Tape in

Rischitelli, Lynch, Weller, Krakouer and Dixon out

I'm a bit confused, the article says Lynch is out (yay!), but the team list says he's in (boo). Do we have confirmation on this - he could be a big player for GC, especially if we don't have Elvis up and running.

EDIT: Sorry, just looked at official lists, he's out.

I'd be worried if it wasn't Pavs 250th

GC came within 3 goals of the mob up the road - who have bugger all injuries to worry about

A second trip would give GC some confidence, ad to that we are misisng a lot of talent

But it's Pav's 250th and if Pav plays well, we generally win - and he is know to play well during milestone games (200th, record breaker etc.). Also the team will lift for Pav - absolute legend already

de Boer to 50 already, that came quick :thumbsu:

It kind of amazes me that DeBoer, Hill and Mayne have all beaten Palmer to 50 games. Far out footy is a funny game, so much can change from week to week and year to year.

Obviously Palmer's reco didn't help. In actual fact due to Palmers knee guys like Mayne should have reached the 50 a lot sooner.

Palmer's recon didn't help but heading into 2010 he was still ahead of them both in total games played.

At any rate, my point was more to do with how Palmer started his career off and how he's traveling now; constantly in and out of the side. If you said to me in 2008 that Chris Mayne - who debuted later and had injury troubles - would reach 50 games before Palmer I wouldn't have believed you. Likewise if you said a rookie pick from a year later would beat him to the mark.

Morabito should have been close to 50 :(

Ballantyne hasn't even clocked up 40 games yet! Broughts is near 50 also

Then we've got Elvis who is on 181 and should get his 200th next year - Groves is on 193!

You start to see these patterns don't you ... eg. Balla is great, but we're just going to have to accept that he's susceptible to injury, it's starting to become his norm. Same goes for McPharlin who is fairly good for the most part, but has certainly had his regular injuries even from early days - though not as bad as Ruffles who has got great footy potential, but at this rate is going to take 5 years to get to 10 games.

Then there's the other extreme like Super Pav and Mundy who are both players who hardly miss a beat. Luck's a big part of it of course, but there's a certain amount of DNA involved too.
