I think this is a key point - Im a firm believer that you shouldnt cast a judgement on anything in life until you have experienced it yourself. I dont care what youve heard or seen mate - you dont understand the culture of EDT, nor do I, so we should leave any judgements inside our head.

Providing information to a poster to help understand a private forum they know little about is hardly baiting. There are plenty of others on this board who are interested in EDT, hence the public post.

Mate, I can assure you that it's a BF wide rule to delete those posts. If you have an issue with a moderator, either PM him or click the "Contact Us" button at the bottom of every page. You're much more likely to get an explanation if you follow the right channels.

So Hargraves and Mitch Clarke were apparently sick last weekend but played through it. Hopefully this explains their sub-standard scores.

Heater will cop a tag this week and his average should be restored.

Hargrave I'm still a bit unsure about despite his huge year last year. Not sure why but hope he has a couple more bad games and he might be trade bait.

Clark will be back to normal this week. I hope so anyway. Without Charman he should get plenty if time in the middle and gun it up please please please.

Was never going to score as well with the Pies.

They probably have about 1/3 less stoppages per game than the Swans and he won't be required to do the clean-up work at ground level anywhere near as much meaning his stats will be well down.

Stayed away with a barge pole from this one.

However in saying all that, a great pick-up for the Pies in the real stuff as he rounds out that side perfectly and gives Mick the chance to use Frasier in different ways.

Right, I'm speaking on behalf of all of FFC here. As far as we're concerned, the last few pages of this thread are behind us. DWD can say what he likes, be we won't be responding to anything else he says in a public forum. He's more than welcome to PM any FFC member if he wants clarification on anything, but if not, then that's fine.

From our point of view, FFC is not really like EDT. Sure, we spend more time than is healthy talking about fantasy football (who here admits that publicly?) but we don't recruit based on past finishes. We have plenty of members who wouldn't even get a look in at other private forums, but who we gave a chance to because they seemed passionate and posted well. Some of those gambles, like DWD, didn't pay off, and a higher quality of discussion didn't bring about the required level of posting. But one of the things I'm most proud about with FFC is that some of these gambles paid off. I'm not going to name names, but we have posters who haven't had a finish above 5k before who now have a really strong squad, and a really good depth of fantasy knowledge. We're not an elitist group in that sense. Obviously, you have to be noticed by some of our members to be invited, but we don't trawl through the rankings to find our members. I guess in that sense we're like a cross between EDT and NP. NP's goal is to generate good quality discussion on the BF boards, and EDT's goal, as Dogs said above, is to do well in DT. As Dogs said, some of the blokes in these groups, who I've come to know a bit better through some of the banter on the Scumbags/Tossers threads, are top blokes and that's what we're looking for in FFC.

Our aim is to become better fantasy players by helping each other out. We have some people who have a history of some very high finishes across a number of years. Others who have had one particularly good year (including both Spartz and myself), and others whose results haven't (yet) backed up their knowledge and passion for fantasy footy. The good early results of all of our leagues (all 6 are in the top 5 across the two competitions) is indicative of that.

Hopefully that clarifies our position a bit. Obviously groups like NP, EDT and even the SC groups like SCE and YSCC are more entrenched than us, so when there's a new kid on the block, people will have questions. If there's anything you want to know about FFC, don't hesitate to PM me, or post it in this thread. Obviously, don't bother asking about past members or some of the shit that's gone on in this thread, but if you're genuinely interested in the way the forum runs, feel free to ask.

There is a difference between a midfield tag from a tagger such as Picken, and a defensive forward tag from a player such as Monfries.

In today's game, a lot of the play is set up from the HBF, these running defenders, in a lot of the cases, are some of the most talented, fastest and players whom posses the best skills. Eg, Courtney Dempsey, Lindsay Gilbee, Heath Shaw etc. Thus these players are tagged to stop this.

Yeah, exactly. I hate the term 'quarterback' in AFL, but that's essentially the role they play. They use their vision, pace and kicking ability to get it down the ground. A lot of the play leaving the 50 goes through their hands, thus shutting them down restricts the team's flow out of their defensive 50. It also forces them to use another outlet player of lesser skills/smarts. This can produce turnovers either through pressure or simply poorer skills.

Either way, it's a win/win for the other team. You'd be mad not to really; if I was coaching, I'd stick a forward tag on the opposing team's best outlet player from defence. Can really throw the other team off balance when coming out of defence.

They also got thumped, so it would suggest that it wasn't a very succesful tactic. Batram played that role a few time last year, an emergency last game and wouldn't suprise me if he comes in.

The difference between you guys and collingwood is exactly as you've said, the hawks have a multitude or running backmen, whereas Shaw is the main guy setting up plays for Collingwood. Add to that his excellent reading of the play and ability to help teammates out, as well as his susceptibility to a tag in the past, you can be sure that he'll be one of the first candidates for a tag.

It's not a matter of having a forward tagger in a team or not. It is however about putting attention on a half-back who is very dangerous. I.E If I was a coach I would not put a tag on anyone who plays for richmond (They turn the ball over so much it actually helps you not tagging them ) same goes for Melbourne. However Collingwood has Heath Shaw who is dangerous and will attract attention, especially after his good game on the weekend. St.Kilda have Goddard and Gram who are brilliant by foot. Geelong have Enright, and Mackie. Sydney have Kennelly, the list goes on. i think Shaw will have some massive scores but I guarentee you he will have his fair share of <60 scores this year.
