Autopsy Got there in the end - Swans def Blues

Finding in general Cox is a lot more open in the press conferences than Longmire was. It’s good for a Swans fan but sometimes I wonder if he’s letting on a bit too much.

Not sure he lets the players in on the plan at times :p

Given Silvagni wasn't concussed, McInerney might be okay. It will be rated careless, high and either low or medium impact. Low would mean he's fine, medium gets a week. not sure if past instances make a difference

McInerney should be fine, Amartey has to hope they can argue the Carlton players was pushed into him which might get a 3 weeks down to 2.

Its definitely better he does the Longmire i didnt see it when questioned on MRO incidents
He conceded Amartey too readily….i am sure someone will have a word.

Credit to Cox on finally making a few calls with McLean dropped, Florent sub. Good to see some senior players take some flak for a shit performance for a change....they probably weren't the two I'd have picked personally but glad he took the stand.
Imagine Florent probably comes back into the starting 22 the challenge though now is not to backtrack on the McLean call (they were probably hoping he'd play well and he didn't)....and they said he was dropped for form, so really he shouldn't come back in until he finds some, that's how the message sticks that we're serious selection integrity. Amartey's act makes that hard, but you almost have to pick Buller over McLean next week if nothing else but to drive the standard/message he just set.

Although the first 3 qtrs were god awful to watch we competed, there wasn't the softness and reaching tackles that have become a feature of our performances....which is a step forward. Needs to be backed up now obviously.
McLean & Florent will now request a trade to North at year's end.
Isn't this what happens when our more experienced & game gifted players get looked over at selection.
They get their nose out of joint because they are now being asked to fight for their position, instead of delivering the same shit performances below their best output in the past.

I think Parker may have gone down this path.

Heeney and the Chad were so crazy good last night. I really don't rate Hamling as a forward personally, I think if Mclean can get into form he might be our best key forward, he's got a decent pair of hands. I was happy with how Amartey competed, sad he's going to be out for a while. Our forward line is pretty awful, feels like the only way we can score is by our midfielders going forward and kicking one.

Yes Warner and Heeney were awesome. Should we be worried how much we rely on those two? That said, the team response after that flaccid first quarter was immense.

Hamling was there to nullify Weitering. Did quite well. Held him to 13 disposals, 1 mark, 1 tackle, 5 intercepts.

I think I enjoyed Grundy's celebration even more than the goal. Papleyesque!

I think we were helped by Carlton going into their shells once they hit the lead. They stopped moving the ball quickly through the corridor and instead, started kicking long, either down the line or bombing into F50. Prior to this change of ball movement, I felt we were just hanging on, with McKay and Curnow both starting to look very dangerous. I think if they had just kept going, we could've been toast with their 2 big guns potentially each getting a bag. It really played into our hands as it took the pressure off our defence and also generated alot of stoppages, allowing Heeney and Chad to get to work. Heeney only had a couple of possessions while the Blues were taking the game on.

Watching from the outside, Vossy is a lousy coach who doesn't really have a good feel for how a game is progressing. As good as we were, especially in the final quarter, I think Voss played a big part in our win.

Template of last year 2024.
Mids get on top, run through the square, then bomb it on goal.
Works on our small ground SCG.
But it won't work on the MCG.

Joel Amartey loses it late, and makes a suspension-attracting shoulder-charge blunder.
Why wouldn't he lose it? They'd been bombing it over his head all game!

Heeney: first picked.
Carlton: they didn't have Tom De Koning

How much smaller do you think the SCG is? The SCG is 77.75 meters from the centre circle to the goal line, while the MCG is 80 meters. 2 metres makes **** all difference to this sort of game plan.

Just watching the replay of the Amartey incident, McInerney bumps the Carlton player which pushes him towards Amartey, yes Amartey will still get suspended because he chose to bump and hit him high, but surely we could argue the events before being hit to downgrade the charge.
Going off Heeney's suspension last year, Amartey will get 6 weeks.

I think Ladhams could also benefit from just staying in the side , why should Mclean force him out .

I like McLean. I think with his size and skills he would have been a great player in the 80s but he's just so lumbering and unathletic that he doesn't impact enough contests in the modern game. Not that I would begrudge him a place in our best 22 when in form, it's just a challenge for him because of those limitations.

Ladhams spent half the game on the bench last night but still managed to make an impact around the ground. He should stay in.

Mills and Adams potentially being available next week probably covers Jmac possibly being suspended. Amartey and Francis are going to be harder to cover.
Carlton were just typical can play like superstars for a quarter or two then they fall in a heap. Voss should be under the pump for this it's getting a habit of theirs.
Ladhams should surely stay in with Amartey and Francis out. Not keen on McLean coming back in. It really showed when Amartey was leading and presenting all night and chasing how slow McLean is.
