Grand Final

I was in the top tier of the Great Southern Stand almost directly behind the goals in both 1997 (back row) and 1998 (five rows from the back).

You still get a fairly fantastic view of everything, the only problem if you're seated there is that you can only see the tophalf of the posts, so anything within 20 metres of the goals closest to you, you can't actually see - so despite being at the ground I missed a lot of the final quarter Jarman-magic and just saw the ball sailing through.

Enjoy it guys and girls. :D

We'll make up for you..........Darren, Jonesy, Ron and myself are heading down Thursday arvo/Friday morning and will be there for the parade and training on Friday.

There were quite a few people at Tracy Village late on Friday night ringing contacts to get tickets - now just have to find those winter clothes for down south..... :D

Well if you find someone willing to swap a return plane ticket for a couple of grand final tickets let me know, as I can get a couple of spares if required...

I think I'll just have to buy a boat to drown my sorrows of not being there.

No idea where I'm sitting. Nothing has been debited from my credit card either. Had me a bit worried but after a few phone calls to the club and ticketmaster, it seems that they have been sent.

If I get the tickets and they forget to charge me for them, it'll be a bonus ;)

What about flying to Sydney and then hiring a car.....I booked my airline ticket after the first final and knowing that I could use it later if need be as there was no way I was going to miss our first AFL GF.

I'll be in section M1, Row G. Right on the rightmost point post at the Southern end according to the seating layout. Not too bad as I prefer to be near the field. Obviously a bit further around the wings would be best, but those soul-less MCC/AFL members there for 'the occasion' are obviously much more important then the likes of lowly me and the rest of us here who've been hanging out for years to see Port in the big one

Did your ticket come today Andre or did you not pre-book?

Same thing here mate. Nerve racking. The deposit has gone through, but until I see the actual ticket in my hand will my nerves ease.
That song "two tickets to paradise" keeps ringing through my head.

I only got standing room tickets...general reserve were all sold out and I got a bit worried when the computer dude said, sorry no more tickets availabe for that area.

Did everyone speak to the same computer generated dude? I was expecting to speak to a human...

Ah well...I think if you rang this morning, you are getting them from Ticketmaster7 and not the club itself, so you have to pick them up either from the Melbourne Office or from the gate at the MCG on Grand Final Day itself. They don't send these out via the post so it may be good to ring up customer service and find out all the details with regards to collection and receipt of tickets.

Here's the MCG seating plan.

I'm a bit ********ed off to be behind the goals, but I see the AFL & MCC members that aren't supporting either side have all the prime wing space. Great.

Not quite right mate. MCC members are in the new stand behind the city end goals for the GF. AFL members are however on the wing in the southern stand as per usual.

Jabsy, am I correct in thinking you have got ticket(s) to the GF and cannot get there?

Without wanting to sound like a desperado!!!!!!...........what are you going to do with them if you do not go?? I and a mate from Perth who came for the Prelim are anxiously/desperately trying to somehow get tickets, and with the anti-scalping laws that are going on it is being made very difficult. We have a chance to get there (car hire), but are not confident of going and then trying to get tickets at the gate(or elsewhere).

Anyhoo.............if you canna go Jabsy........think of a poor fellow Port fan(s)!!

:(

My tickets: Q32 row "LL" (if there is such a row), so it's behind the goals at the city end, but so high up we'll need to take our own oxygen, rope and sherpa.

I think we may in fact be sitting on the roof.

Make sure to throw plenty of beer cups at the AFL members below.
