I know loads of people over here who actually do have respect for the Eagles. Generally I find that it's Freo that people don't give a shit about. The general feedback I get is that while people here hate the fact that we've taken the premiership cup away from them three times, at least we did it on their turf.

Not that I really care what some journos say or even BF posters for that matter, but here is a good article illustrating how WC went about last season and really negates all the tanking theories. Accusing WC of tanking/cheating may help Victorians feel better about their own disgusting behaviour but I like the fact WC never sunk to that level.

I am loving how Bailey has been sacked... it just shows that tanking does affect culture. Can't keep Scully, coach sacked, club in shambles.... All this could have been avoided had the bad eggs at the top been weeded out (they are still there).

One thing I like about Grant Thomas is he does seem capable of admitting a mistake if it's pointed out to him rather than pretend he didn't mean it or was taken out of context.

I read that earlier. Interesting that he would make such a remark and then just backtrack on it with such ease. While it is pleasing to see he can change his mind and doesn't totally hate on us for no reason, it is disappointing to see such a prominent commentator make such controversial calls with so little knowledge.

It is so saturated with idiots with agendas or outright conflicts of interest that it is impossible to take most of them seriously. is there such a dearth of genuine media talent coming through the ranks that we have to persist with club board members, player agents or stodgy old bias bastards ? we now even have to put up with current players making "special comments"....really ?

You misunderstand me Pea. Basically the point i was making is that they comment on the game from a victorian point of view first and foremost. Regardless of how good an interstate team may have played on the weekend, it will always be near to last spoken about on footy classified and in general most media spots or newspaper segments are devoted to victorian teams because that is what sells. Now my issue is that Footy Classified is a national broadcasted show on ironically enough the AFL. Am i being unreasonable to expect them to at least slightly understand the reasons behind last year? Should i have to listen to such ignorance? They SHOULD know better. I never stipulated victorian fans didn't like us, i said they couldn't care less about us. They would much prefer to read about their own team than ours. Which is fair enough but i shouldn't have to listen to that shit because they can't be ****ed being REAL journalists.
