Group F is one of the weaker groups at this World Cup with only Italy standing out here, even though they have been quite poor as of late. The other teams are Paraguay, New Zealand and Slovakia.

Match times are in Australian Eastern Standard Time.

Italy vs Paraguay 15 June 04:30
Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town

New Zealand vs Slovakia 15 June 21:30
Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg

Slovakia vs Paraguay 20 June 21:30
Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein

Italy vs New Zealand 21 June 00:00
Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit

Slovakia vs Italy 25 June 00:00
Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg

Paraguay vs New Zealand 25 June 00:00
Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane

The winner from this group faces the runner up from Group E. The runner up will face the Netherlands most likely.

What are your thoughts on Lippi's preliminary squad?

I think not selecting Cassano and Miccoli will backfire. In addition your defence apart from Chiellini hasn't been in the best shape as of late like Grosso and Cannavaro.

I'll be honest, I'm a bit worried.

Beneath the excitement of the impending WORLD CUP!!!!!1111zomg!!!!1111, I don't have a massive amount of confidence in the group.

Hopefully they can be competitive again though and at the least I hope that a repeat of the joke that was 2002 doesn't eventuate.

Devo that Nesta wasn't named :(

Chiellini is a gun but Canna is turning 37 this year and there's only so much you can expect someone of his age to do, particularly as a central defender (no matter how much of a champion he is).

Didnt pick Cassano last WC..Im glad he has left him out again.
Bit worried about the defense myself

Candreva and Grosso have been cut from the Italy squad at this stage.

It is because of the penalty. Which I never disputed.

It is possible to accept it was a penalty and still be amused the preening ****wit isn't coming back.

Plus it's a great gif. A walrus! Playing the trumpet!

Pirlo has picked up a calf injury and is in doubt now. He is probably the one player they could ill afford to lose.

Someone needs to create an injuries thread

Stars are getting beat up everywhere, this is getting out of hand

Looking forward to Montolivo in the starting line-up tonight, the future of the Italian midfield IMO.

I hope Italy lose 10-0 tonight, that'll teach em'
