Say goodbye to Ernie everyone, I doubt we will be seeing him post here again.

Great to see NZ throw the group wide open, and great for them to show a lot more heart than a lot of teams so far in the World Cup. I would gladly see NZ qualify ahead of Italy if it meant Australia crashed and burned in their next two games. The Australia Futbal psyche from the common Socceroo supporter to the Australia sport medina has to be one of the most pathetic and clueless mindsets of any in world Futbal. Craig Foster is one of the dumbest c**ts alive.

I think if the Slovaks get their sh1t together, they should progress with Italy, they have to beat Paraguay in their next game obviously.

Once again I'm struggling to follow you, Ernie.

Please remind me how many of these Euro winning country have won a WC. Greece, Denmark, Netherlands, Czechslovokia, Soviet Union and Spain. Italy's one and only win was in 68 and England has never won a Euro.

What exactly is your point here? And how could it possibly contradict what I wrote?

Since winning the euro in '88, Holland's only ever been knocked out of WC's by Brazil or European sides. Isn't that what I said?

Other than that, it's poor you have to rely on involving one-off achievements from Greece and Denmark to prove a point. That Greek generation failed to even qualify for a WC, let alone leave half an impression in any other Euro tournament.

And Denmark in '92 beat the world champion in the final. Hang on, weren't you trying to make a point...

Again using that logic Greece should have been right up there last WC.
No doubt Spain are very good but winning the last euro means less than winning the last WC, in terms of chances at this WC.

Greece was kept out of the WC by European sides, you spoon. But again, it just shows your desparation in this discussion - everyone knows that exact Greek side in their form of that summer would've done well at a WC, and possibly would've lost to Brazil only.

Greece beat hosts Portugal twice that year, knocked out Spain, and then knocked out France and a superb Czech side. You'll struggle to find many WC winners who've had it tougher than they had - they definitely had it harder than Italy 4 years ago, getting Australia and Ukraine... you were in the semi's already by the time you had to play a decent side.

Spain winning the last euro shows the form they've been in. It is very relevant today because they're still largely the same group of players, with many players still in the prime of their careers, unlike Italy today that looks quite different from the side that won 4 years ago.

My eyes hurt.

Thats what happens when your up late at night smoking weed staring at a computer screen, try some visine.

An Australian sport medina would be great. You could sit around smoking a hookah pipe, do a bit of haggling, and even watch a bit of sport.

Medina... Media, meh one letter of difference.

What exactly is your point here?

Pretty simple-In this tournament, recent WC form means more than recent Euro Championship form.

Sorry thats a load of rubbish. Only you and delussional Greek fans would believe that Euro 2004 victory was anything else but very lucky. Firstly they drew with Spain and only knocked them out cos they scored 2 more goal(equal goal difference). They lost to Russia in the group stage while sides in other group were knocked out of the tournament with more points and not losing. They had they great fortunate to play the overated Portugul twice. They know how to choke almost as much Spain. Nedved's injury in semi was crucial to them. How many 1-0 victories defending for most of the match get you WC trophy?

They were a very good defensive side, well organised and well coached but the luck they had would never carry on to win a WC.

Portugal overrated? Half of their side had just won the CL with Porto (then add CR, Rui Costa, Miguel, Andrade and Figo) and they had the home advantage. Most players were in the prime of their career. They beat England and outplayed Holland to get into the final.

I have to admit Greece did it the Italian way but beating that Portugal side not once but twice, and beating Czech and France on the way to the final was a hell of a lot more than luck. Like I said, you'll struggle to find many tournament winners that had a tougher tournament than them.

You talking club level now? Rui costa was just about finished and Figo close to it. They haven't had worthy national level striker for years. CR is great club player not national. What has Portugal achieved at national level?

LOL @ Greece doing it the Italian way... when Italy win World Cups they have cutting edge in attack and defence, no way Greece had a cutting edge in attack that tournament. Their defence was probably some of the best you will ever see. They did it their own way.

Portugal are always over-rated, have the fancy outside players, but a soft centre, their CDM's and CB's are all flipping spuds, and Nuno Gomes is a joke of a striker.

LOL

Italy and the words 'cutting edge in attack' being used in the same sentence.

The only way Italy ever wins games is when they rock up and park this..

If you anything of their history, you know that they can, hell they did the other night when they went behind.

Oh please, pretending as if that Portuguese side, as unlikeable as they may be, wasn't any good is just pathetic.

What have they achieved at national level? :D
Euro 2000: won 4 games straight until they were knocked out through a golden goal in the semi's by France in controversial fashion
Euro 2004: final
WC 2006: semi final

Wow 4 euro games straight -that must be record and a home final- that rare. Nothing there proves they aren't overated.

Nice deflection and use of common stereotypes, to bad this post lacks in critical thinking.

Please tell me which team scored the most goals in the last World Cup? Which team scored the most goals in the knockout stages?

Really need to win tonight, and win convincingly. I wouldn't wanna be going into the Slovakia match under too much pressure. Can't ****ing wait!!!!!!!
