Highlight from here >>>>>>> How good is the bank mission! Took me a few attempts but was worth it. I'm 55% through it at the moment, does anyone know if that includes side missions like killing pigeons? I feel like I am getting close to the end, so I am assuming jumps and pigeons are part of the percentage.

Yes, the side missions count towards your complete %. Getting all the cars for Stevie for example is worth 2%

I have the PS3 Version and it hasn't happened on mine, although I turned auto save off early on in the game.

My house mate has the Xbox and had the same problem you are having. Just turn your auto save off and you should be fine. Keep playing mate, it only gets better after the Packie truck mission.

I loved San Andreas aswell, and in some aspects GTAIV doesn't measure up, but in others it kicks arse. You will get that with any sequel.

My saviour!

Thank you!

I've heard some reviews of the game that say it's not the biggest GTA experience in terms of size however a lot of people complained about GTA SA that it was too big. This would upset others who like bigger environments and longer games you can explore (like me) but please people who are impatient and hate the likes of games like Mario Galaxy, and ZElda games because of the fact it is basically about exploring big environments. I guess they're trying not to alienate new casual gamers to the GTA craze with the first in the series.

I saw there was a new update this morning for ps3 users. I got sick of mine freezing up during normal gameplay so i took it back and got another copy. Hopefully this update will fix some of the problems

Aussie Gamers make Xbox 360 their Grand Theft Auto IV Platform of Choice
By: Luke Hepburn

We've just received this from Microsoft showing some nice numbers. Now I wonder what the numbers would have been if they included all those imported copies. Mario KArt for the wii came in at 3rd while the Playstation 3 version of the GTA IV came in at second. Press release below.
Xbox 360 is the lead platform of choice for Grand Theft Auto IV after Gfk statistics show copies of the game on the 360 outsold those of its rival platform.
The release of the popular crime epic described by the New York Times as ‘a new level of depth for an interactive entertainment experience’ helped dramatically push sales of the Xbox 360 console in Australia.
“We believe the exclusivity of the downloadable content combined with our excellent Xbox LIVE online experience drew more Australian gamers to the Xbox 360 to play Grand Theft Auto IV,” said Jeremy Hinton, Australian Xbox Product Marketing Manager.

Australian Xbox 360 owners will be able to enjoy the multiplayer version of the game using the Xbox LIVE service which allows them to play against over 10 million other Xbox LIVE users globally.
Grand Theft Auto IV owners will be spending the next few weeks attempting to complete the full game but Microsoft believes the Xbox LIVE numbers will increase significantly as more players move from the singe-player campaign to multiplayer mayhem on Xbox LIVE.
“Already our global Xbox LIVE statistics show that gamers played over 9,700,000 hours of Grand Theft Auto IV online multiplayer within the first week of launch with your average user playing for 239 minutes,” added Hinton.
“Our Xbox LIVE marketplace is a fast, effective and easy to use feature of the console. Only the Xbox 360 version will allow Grand Theft Auto IV fans to get their hands on downloadable content in the coming months.”

Global Xbox LIVE statistics show that on the first week of launch:

More than 2.3 million people have played “Grand Theft Auto IV” on Xbox LIVE
Xbox Live has reached one million concurrent users.
The average gamer is spending more than four hours playing “Grand Theft Auto IV” in the first week.
More than 12 million Achievements were unlocked
More than 111,000,000 million gamerscore unlocked

Sounds a bit onesided to me if Microsoft have provided the numbers......

How are PS3 owners going in the multiplayer side of things? Everything working well?
Suprisingly lag is minimal if ever there, the new patch that was released today stops freezing(Which I never got, apart from 2 minor 2 seconds freezes), very happy with the online, the only problem would be the occasional cut out of headset when connecting to a different type of game, but overall online works very smoothly and without much lag at all.

You really love talking about this game, don't you HBK?

I think I'm up to the final mission > Highlight to reveal

I just attended the wedding and Kate was killed, and now I'm going after Peggarino. On my first attempt I didn't complete the chase before my car broke down, then on the 2nd attempt I got inside of the chopper but it crashed into the water before I could take him out.

GTA IV has more, depth wise, whereas SA was just a massive city, one problem with the open country sides in SA was that if you stacked and blew up your car/bike/vehicle, then you would have to run to the next town to get another vehicle, which could take a while depending on where you were, GTA IV is basically all city, but it is so in depth, everything has been detailed amazingly, it looks like this city actually exists, it is just so well done, while GTA SA went for more quantity over quality(And it was a great game), GTA IV has gone more quality than quantity, although it still remains and adds to the GTA SA world, I think that one of the main problems for Rockstar was that the graphics in SA were so far behind next gen that it required much of their time to make the GTA IV world and have probably left things out that they would have liked, however by the next we should have awesome graphics coupled with a shitload more stuff.

I just completed a mission where I had to pick some shit up then flee the cops who were 3 stars... I have never managed to evade them with that level before but managed to do it somehow. It was quite an epic chase and ____ it was awesome when I knew I had managed to lose them!! The story took another twist at that stage too.

Some of the car chases are ____ing insane!

The driving is a lot different in this game, I've even read some people complain about it, but ____ it's great. As soon as you get the hang of it then it is awesome hooning around the streets, dodging traffic, using your handbrake on the tight corners or to do a "u-ey"!

I found myself having alot of troubles with the driving, then I did some online races and that has completly helped me out, it helps you learn how to use corners at high speed and when and when not to brake, I urge people who are having a bad time with driving to try some races and then you might get the hang of it a bit more.

Also with the police car chases, one cool little element is that the cops have to see you if they are to know where you are, so if you can get far enough ahead of them to be out of their eyeline but not out of 'zone', just duck off into an alley way to get out of their site and they will zoom right past you and you can drive off the other way and there won't be any cops on your tail.;)

Yeah the cops are awesome, they don't just know where you are... they have to see you so you can use tactics to evade the bastards.

I guess I learnt to drive properly by doing random shit as I don't always do missions, especially when I'm with mates.. sometimes we just drive around killing people. By the time I got to the first race I was pretty good and smashed that one easily.

People will complain about anything, even with a great game like GTA. At first I was all over the place, but after a few runs I got the hang of it and it's really not that difficult to drive anymore.

One of my favourite moments was last night when I had an entire swarm of feds after me, then this cop car tries to join in the chase just as I hit a sharp corner, and he completely flipped over the railing and down the hill, while I got away lol.

i'm not that far in (25% or so) and i don't want to rush it. I take my time to familiarise myself with the workings and locations of the streets and roads. There is nothing like getting in a muscle car, cranking the volume with "1979 by Smashing Pumpkins" and cruising the long open roads like the bridges in the late afternoon with the gentle sun on the beautiful car. Mmmmmmmm.

anyone got the one man army achievement. Have to last on 6 stars for 5 minutes. It is f****** insane. Takes the epitimy of driving and shooting prowess, and i did it!

Man, that funeral for Francis McReary/derrick McReary depending on who you kill is another awesome mission! Still, the best is the bank heist, and probably that one where you chase down the bikers through the subway on motorbikes... some awesome missions in this game - still think SA is better overall though

I got that achievment the other day by taking cover behind a dumpster outside the weapons shop in Broker. 7 minutes and 95 kills later i ran out of ammo and a NOOSE agent snuck around and blew me away. I kinda miss having the army roll up after 6 stars like in previous GTA games.

My favorite is 'The Snow Storm', just loved infiltrating the old hospital, recovering the 'package' and then blasting my way out and escaping the police.

I love the driving mechanics, sure if you get in a crappy car its not going to be much fun attempting to handle it. There have been a few cool sequences where i've gone to make a hard turn, but end up in a turning sequence that sees me having to continue moving towards the destination.... but in reverse (it was pretty cool how it happened).

I love the police interaction, at first i thought evading them was going to be too hard... but its pretty easy after awhile - even on 5 stars, i've only been on 6 stars once and i don't fancy being on it again. I love how their lights on the roof can bust, but still work on the others that are left.

My favorite GTA is still Vice City, nothing will likely ever change it (unless GTA V was a Vice City remake :p).

I've been on the Gold Coast for a week, and I sure am missing my PS3 and GTA! I've been reading this thread all week and getting mega jealous. Very hard to stop myself reading the spoiler tagged stuff, but I'll echo everyone else -- good work for using the function.

Still, home tonight -- I don't think I'll move off the couch for the entire weekend.

Yeah I have done that myself a few times, my favourite driving song in the game!

Welcome to the club mate, I took the entire week off work just to play it (and a few other things like re-enrol at uni). My studies would suffer big time if this game had of come out whilst I was doing subjects.

What is this download content xbox will be able to get over the next few months? Is it like an expansion pack? If it is and PS3 won't get it I will be majorly pissed off!:thumbsd:
