I have a spare $500, and can get a fair bit more in the next week or so.. Only have an oldschool XBOX, but want this game... Is it better to get a 360 and this, or a PS3 and this?

I'm in the same boat.

I'm thinking PS3 because from the reading I've done it looks like having more the more longevity of the two...
I kinda got an 'XBOX 360 is superior now - PS3 will be superior in a year and will last you longer' type of vibe from the things I read... Apparently game developers are yet to tap into the full capacity of the PS3...

i have no idea where to find the guns. i found 1 gun and that was a shotty, didnt last very long cos it only had 4 bullets

There is one shotty in the Strip Club up the top of the map(Not sure what the area is called), look in the staff only door and it is there, also I only found the Strip Club, I was not there to get a lap dance.

Nothing gameplay wise. You just get some GTA branded stuff, like a dufflebag, keychain etc

I reccomend it, the art book is amazing, the CD has a good amount of songs, and they are good too, the Safety Deposit Box is huge and could actually be used as a real one, the dufflebag is good quality too, I though it might be a couple of shitrags thrown together but it is strong.

Thought I'd throw in my two bobs worth, I picked up the Special Edition yesterday at JB.

I came home and played it for around about 4 hours, straight up, only got through about 6 missions.

I can say this, if you are going to get this game, don't start playing any previous GTA before hand to warm you up, it makes it 10X harder to get used to this one, the controls are alot different and varied, graphics are out of this world better(Has anyone seen the water with the sun hitting it? Also look at the water when you hover over it with a Chopper, AMAZING!).

The driving is tough, but it will take a while to get into, the shooting is soooooo much better, I haven't tried online yet, so I am in anticipation of that.

I love the little extras in the game too, watching TV, the shows you can go and watch, watching the people interact and work on the street(Take notice Assassins Creed), this game is actually exceeding my expectations, especially in the Graphics department, and I am only about 2% done!!!

I think the overall amazing thing about this game is how lifelike it is, in the Art Book the guy talks about how with San Andreas they went more Quantity than Quality, whereas they wanted to add more Quality to this game, but in doing so also wanted the realism of the game to match the gameplay as well, and in doing so they have created probably the first TRUE NEXT-GEN Game.

Been well tested, can't see any of the glitches yet that are common in this sort of free roaming game. (my leg went halfway through a door once as i walked up to it, nothing major)

Haven't witnessed any pop in whatsoever and the loading screens are tiny, 3-4 seconds at most for the most part, entering buildings...starting missions etc

Basically I think all of the comparison is just blowing smoke up each others arses, although I know that there isn't any loading when entering buildings on my PS3 version, are you talking about every building?

There's no loading times when going in buildings that I noticed, just for missions and the initial loading when the game first starts.

The graphics are superb in this game, and I love the cinematic option while driving too, it can be useful to hit the O button if the camera view is not quite right round a corner or something.

Easy to lose headlights after a couple of fender benders, which makes driving at night somewhat of a challenge.

I'm going to become quite fond of Nico, as this game goes on I believe! Wotta champ!

Multi on XBL is just awesome. I thought I was hooked on the single player, but the multi has got me addicted.

Deathmatch is carnage - you want near and 1 sec respawn, have played with 12+ people, no probs.

Mafiya work is awesome, cut throat stuff, I'm sure there will be tons of tactics for team version of this mode. Cops and crooks too.

Being able to invite friends from Niko's phone in game is a revelation.

Nah, only mission buildings, where you walk/drive into an arrow to begin a mission. Screen will fade to black, 3-4 seconds of loading, and the cut scene begins.

Any building which has the swinging type doors, you just walk straight in, no loading.

Not yet.

If it happened on 360 the first thing i'd be doing is clearing the cache on the HDD. A full cache causes problems on a few games, Bioshock etc. The game preloads some game data to the HDD to streamline things, if the cache is full, the process isn't as efficient and can cause slowdown/freezing.

Clearing the cache usually fixes it straight away. I've never had an issue, but a mate had some with bioshock.

And yeah, i let Ivan live, Vlad's a dick, screw what he wants.

Got the 60g and haven't had it happen yet. Mind you I am only 5 hours into the game so will let you know if it happens down the track.

anyone tried to drunk drive yet? man it's hard. A hint came up saying it might be easier to catch a cab. I couldnt figure out how to do this and ended up hijacking a cab instead, at which point 2 guys got out and proceeded to beat the crap out of me. It's almost as hard to fight when ur drunk as it is to drive when ur drunk.

I managed to escape and hijack another cab to get me and my date home safely. LOL yes i was on a date at the time. She didn't seem phased by all the commotion.

Oh and where/how do you find hookers? I'm curious to see just how much of this has been cut from the original game. I know when I took my date home and 'got lucky', it just cut to the next scene. I wonder how this was in the original R rated version?

If you've done the right things by Roman you can call his car service, and they'll send a car for you with an angry dude driving.

Or there's a button to hail a cab that's nearby.

I ran it fine on a 40GB version of the PS3, with an 80GB HD, if that makes any difference.

Was playing this game at a mates for 3 hours yesterday, it's un____ing believable, fiinding the missions a bit tough but it's mostly to do with new controls and the sluggishness of the cars, will take some time to get over this.

The graphics are amazing, he did a weapons cheat to see what the weapons are like, shot down a helicopter and the explosions are unreal.

Also threw a molotov into a crowd of people, they all scream on the ground rolling around, so lifelike.

Plus there are shitloads more cops in this game, all way smarter than ever and it's ____ing harder to get away since I don't know where the Pay'N'Sprays are yet.

Overall looks to be a game capable of taking over our lives haha.

And Michelle is definitely an undervocer cop, she is always asking about the people Niko associates with, crime etc. Bitch be cool!

well going by that it would take 50 hours to complete the game. That is of course completely ignoring the fact that the missions are going to get much harder and will take much longer.

i think they said anywhere from 115-140 hours
