The winning streak continues!



Behind at half time in round nine, we needed a good second half to prevail over the improving Demons... and boy did we deliver. It was a very even performance with 17 players treated nicely by the sim. GWS Goose probably bagged some Mobbs Medal votes, nobbyiscool made a great debut in the midfield and the 1-2-3 forward punch of rye Mop and Chat Pile continues to befuddle opposition defenders.

Once again (in round ten), we went into half time down on the scoreboard and this time it felt like the momentum was moving against us. rye was huge kicking eight from the forward pocket as we mounted a splendid second half performance. In a close last quarter, the Phoenix asked some good questions but we had the necessary answers to win and jump to top spot.

Five wins in a row has us sitting on top and we're probably just one win away from securing a finals berth. Knowing our finals record though, best we keep winning to secure top-four.

We put up some amazing numbers against the Dees with Mop giving their posting fingers a workout. Numbers regressed to the mean against the Phoenix but we still had over 50% of the match thread posts. The number of total posters is in an alarming dive, hopefully more of you check into the threads through the remaining matches.

We sit second but now our percentage is the second worst in the league. We're well placed but this is one very close ladder.

Amazingly we lost three quarters but still won the game comfortably. It was great to see 12 individual goal scorers, none of whom were Mop who was named full forward on the team sheet.

This week is Heritage Round in the Sweet FA where the history of the league is recognised and celebrated. As such, all times have a commemorative guernsey for the occasion. Ours is a contemporary adaptation based on the earliest known Gumbies guernsey (below):


However, you will note that the two hoops are slightly different for this season (design below).



When zoomed in, you will note that the hoops are made up of 11 individual bands- nine navy and two gold in colour (below). One band for each person who has played 150 matches for the Gumbies. The two differentiated gold bands are in recognition of two very important club figures, premiership co-captains and our only 300 gamers- peterss and StFly.



For those new to the club, our opponents this week are the Furies who we have won our one premiership to date (season 16). We have also lost a grand final to the Furies so 2/3 grand finals have involved the magenta.

Around the board, there will be some themed games simmed later in the week and there is also a fundraiser for the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation HERE if you can spare a few bucks.​

No. Lack of activity is the main reason people are dropped.

Bigfooty suspensions earned during the Sweet FA season mean that someone must be dropped for the duration of the ban a team to be valid.

Suspensions incurred on the Sweet FA board must be served in full, so that can be over multiple seasons (if applicable).

Back in 2017 I arrived in Anchorage on Xmas day (having left Melbourne, Aus) Xmas morning - so 4 flights & about 38 hours from leaving the hotel at Tulla to sitting on the bed at the other end. I then spent new year's at Utqiagvik which is the northern most point of mainland USA before heading to Fairbanks for a couple of days

Fairbanks had the best view of the northern lights, and definitely saw better colours through my camera lens than the naked eye

On previous trips I'd been to Austin (really enjoyed), Vegas which is a crazy place but fun, and I'm one of those people who does enjoy LA having been a couple of times & would go back to visit other areas I didn't really have means of visiting

Enjoy the while trip, and hope you get some great, clear weather in Alaska to view the northern lights

Yep, just heading to Fairbanks and staying at Borealis Basecamp in one of the igloos. Also thinking photos will show a bit more, but looking forward to the experience either way. Staying for 4 nights
