Michael Clark after the first test "Im so pissed off, heads will roll, no ones safe"

Public "we agree, who do you drop? Haddin"

Clark "nah not Haddin he plays shots im happy with that"

Public "Ponting? Johnson? Siddle?"

Clark "Nah their best cricket is just around the corner, but im still pissed off"

Thats what it feels like to me anyway, could go on for ages.

if a sound defence and a little bit of common sense isn't part of your "natural game", you should stick to the hit and giggle formats.

Yep. They'll keep doing the same things. Score runs on roads, say they've turned corners. Completely fall apart against decent bowling and then stand around scratching their heads.

The changes will be made for the Gabba test IMO.

selfish bastard. clearly only cares about himself. axe him now.

and clarke. what an inspirational captain:rolleyes:

Given the amount on offer for test players, are you surprised?

What's Clarke supposed to say, "Yeh Haddin was shithouse wasn't he?". No captain has ever said that (inb4apartfromboomer)

Any home truths said to Haddin need not be done in public.

Haddin is determined to play his natural game, but said he must be more judicious with shot selection.

"Obviously it wasn't my proudest moment the other day, but the thing about this game is the way you turn up," he said.

Australian skipper Michael Clarke backed Haddin to rebound.

"He's going to play his shots and I don't have a problem with that," he said. "He'll turn it around."

Oh FFS!!!

If, IF, this is how Clarke is going to run his team, then the lunatics are well and truly running the asylum.

And its not like the weekend was the first time - Haddin ALWAYS does that crap!! He says he needs to be more careful with his shot selection; when is he planning to start?

If he wont do it when we're 5/20, when the hell is he going to?

Edit - the optional training session that he decided not to bother with might've been a good start. Just piss off Haddin.

I really am filthy about this - I called it during the test that they'd say this crap, I was being half facetious.

At present, the money I fork out for SACA membership, I'll go to the games, but I'll be supporting individuals; the team has almost lost me.

****, the Boxing Day Test, the capitulation for the ashes in general, now this joke - and nothing changes!

No responsibility, no accountability - its a joke.

Border would have said something.

Seriously? As if Clarke is going to come out and bag a fellow player in the media. What Clarke says in front of a press conference and what he says to his players behind closed doors are not going to be the same.

Except that Clarke has spoken about people playing 'their natural game' for ages. He also said it in Sri Lanka. He means what he says in the press about this. It's a long running theme with him.

Yes. In the 1980's. Your point?

perfectly justified comparison. border was also put in charge of a team of losers. in fact he was the last australian captain to take over such a dismal team. difference was his players had far less talent than our current crop. he welded them together through force of character, realistic appraisal and hard, honest feedback reinforced with a strict no bullshit policy

after world series cricket and the rebel tours all he had were second string shield hacks yet he managed to build us up for 20 years of world domination

clarke needed to say something, especially about haddin's recklessness. and not just say something, do something. let it be known that that is just intolerable on his watch. if he doesn't take that last performance to heart, what is he ever gonna take to heart? its his brand now. this is his team. all well and good for clarke to rattle on about natural games when he was cocooned by hayden, langer, old ponting, gilly, mcgrath, warne etc. if he sticks with this "natural game" mantra given the personalities and IQs he's chosen for his team, his captaincy will be short lived:thumbsd:

Disappointing to see Haddin dance around the issue and not take responsibility for his idiocy.

Brad Haddin said:
"It wasn't my proudest moment the other day but the thing about this game is the way you fight back," Haddin said. "It's where your mental strength comes from, where you turn back up after the disappointment of the other day, not only individually but as a team. It shows what mental strength you have as a player moving forward."

"It's important for everyone to play their natural game. There are moments in the game when you have to assess situations and that's something I didn't do great the other day. But the bottom line is you have to be true to yourself and your team-mates and play the way that's got you here."

There's a time and a place for playing a natural game. There's also a time and a place for playing with some common sense and with understanding of the context of the innings and the game as a whole. Had Haddin put together even a score of 20-30 runs, then Australia would have eked out more than 100 runs in the second dig and the complexion of the game would have changed.

I still think ponting's attitude has a lot to do with the issues in our batting, he has been the leader for a long time this is a team built in his image and ponting over the years has been incredulous if a journalist even dares to question his personal batting approach or the teams batting approach.

I'm not particularly surprised that the senior batsmen all seem to have that same attitude when grilled on their batting, im actually waiting for one of them to use the Homer Simpson line when reminded of their collective failures in recent years "“Oh, well, of course, everything looks bad if you remember it.”

Wade is doing his bit to keep the pressure on Haddin as well. He could be playing for his career come second test with a new selection panel coming in.

Haddin should just retire, NSW have themselves a more consistent keeper in Nevill.

Yep when early wickets fall move down the order...

He has always batted at 7 in the Test team. In ODI's he started at 3 but moved to 5-6 as Gambhir/Kohli are better options once he got the captaincy and also as he is probably the best ODI finished in the world. Still he promoted himself in the World Cup final to 4 and we all saw how that turned out.

120 more reasons from Wade today as to why he's ripe for the picking. :thumbsu:
Haddin has been good for us, but is that enough of a reason to keep him in the side, when there's a better current option out there? Are we all about picking the best available team, or is it about rewarding those in the side for their past achievements, as though the money we've paid them and the fame they've received isn't enough?
