Harry was not necassarily recruited as a defender i think he just fell in there by necessity this year. But if Matthew Egan is back next year could we throw Harry forward. He is a good mark, can move well, reads the play well and uses his body well. He is also a good kick, contrary to what a few say. Might be worth a shot up there just for something different. Could be a Adam Hunter type if you want a loose comparison.

It could work, but I'd hope Geelong don't take a "fill the gaps" type approach to the issues with our side. We are almost a complete unit and just lack that last key forward. The near enough's-good-enough post for a key forward won't be good enough in 2008. They need Hawkins or Lonergan to seriously take their games to another level, re-structure convincingly and have Gamble or Johnson play out of the square more often, or simply recruit an able bodied big marking player for structure purposes.

With all that said, I think it's still fair to say that had Mooney and Lonergan kicked the straight forward shots on goal they had on Saturday, it would be hard to find a poster on here crying out for an appropriate key position forward.

I'm not completely averse to the idea.

However, it depends entirely on Egan. Milburn & Harley are getting on, and neither are genuine KP defenders. For our defence to maintain its lofty standards, Scarlett will require a genuine KP partner in the form of Egan or Taylor. If Egan makes it back succesfully, I think Harry should be tried forward.

Unfortunately, something tells me Egan won't exactly make it back successfully.

I'm pretty sure Taylor played as a forward a fair bit when he played for East Fremantle, so it's not like it's a complete unknown for him to play there.
Start of the 4th quarter in the GF he played as a forward too, so I think Bomber might try him there in the NAB cup.
I wouldn't even mind seeing him and Lonergan swap, try Lonergan in the backline... I really think Harry would really find his niche as a forward.

As most have said, could be worth a try, but i'd like to see him stay down back. Another pre-season to develope will help this kid out.

I like him in the backline, i think he will be a great centre half back in the next couple years..

Dont like the idea much, i think we can fit Scarlett, Harley, Egan and Taylor in the back line, they dont all have to be there at the one time, start 1 on the bench and if a match up isnt working it can be changed. Also id take Milburn out of defence before Taylor and let Milburn play out his remaining year(s) as a forward, we know he can and would be a better forward option than Taylor

Harry's sweet left boot really looks like it was designed to kick goals from outside 50. We all assume when Egan is back he (H) will be taking over Dasher's role and hopefully that includes creeping forward once or twice a quarter like Dasher does.

Never really thought about it until now but we seem to be a team with very few guys and no forwards who can mark on 50 and slot through a goal with confidence ... like Clinton Young, Dew, Hodge and even C. Brown did.

No way. Ready made replacement for Tom Harley when he retires (when Egan's back).

Will be a perfect third tall defender (considering he's already a quality CHB), I love how he just floats through the air when taking marks. Seems to be a great reader of the play.

Would love him down our way.

Harry killed St Nick and totally shut down Roughie in our two biggest games of the year so I'm happy to see him stay down back. That said, he may be a better defender in 2-3 years if he spends some time up forward.
Let's all hope Egan comes up and returns to his best.

No. Was excellent in defense and has a lot of scope for improvement even if he is 22 already (which is still very young).

I changed the typo for you:thumbsu: (it was 2008)
