We are playing one of the most in-experienced teams in the comp. Carlton did it with some pain over a few years. Lets hope Havs can work out who can play AFL and those only suited to WAFL and turn this team around over next year or so. I am starting to have faith we are moving in the right direction despite the ill directed and uninformed media comments (Dockers have always been an easy media bashing team when they have nothing else to talk about). Lets hope this is the start of somthing....

Our list management is finally on the right track but I don't see the correlation between an inexperienced side and Harvey's coaching ability.

When the guys who have done 4 or more pre-seasons start performing consistently I'll be patting Harvey on the back.

Using your arbitrary breakdown of games, from teams for this week:

Adelaide
0 - 5: 4 players
6 - 40: 7 players
41 - 90: 2 players
+91: 9 players

Carlton
0 - 5: 4 players
6 - 40: 4 players
41 - 90: 7 players
+91: 7 players

Essendon (last week)
0 - 5: 4 players
6 - 40: 4 players (3 of which < 12)
41 - 90: 8 players
+91: 6 players

Adelaide will be running out a less experienced team than us. Carlton/Ess look similar (and Ess were much younger last week). Can't be bothered with the rest, but right now our team is pretty much balanced experience wise with other teams out there.

I think Harvey will eventually get your list in the right shape. There's a difference.
For that to happen though, he needs to keep being brutal with his mates. I was almost convinced Pev was going to go over there last year. And ya just gotta get rid of Tarrant & Solly. It's the same hole EFC fell into circa 2005. If he does that, you've got plenty of young kids who look alright - and you seem to be getting some of the best WA talent, which seems to be on par with anything around.
Also similar to us, the new coach is stuck with a list the old bloke had been propping up for a few years. If anything, your kids are one off-season behind us. But probably better senior KPP in McPharlin, Pav, Johnson, Sandi. I really think Taz/Solly are holding you back.

They are not destabilizing the team and are putting in both on the track and in the games. Keep your trolling somewhere else.

I don't think I am trolling. Not trying to anyway. Feel free to rebut, don't turn it into a bf idiot argument.
Just my opinion is, recruiting 28 year olds is not going to take any team to success. Thought both were bad decisions at the time, and (bar Solly's fitness & form for part of last year) haven't seen anything to change my mind. To me, it looks like Solly's back to his 2005-2006 weight & "form"

Spot on, Alfie. Last week, our selected 22 was the 11th oldest team sent out. That's right, 10 teams were younger than us. And yet 7 of those younger teams had played more games than us.

How can we keep selecting older players who've played fewer games??? It is quite a feat of selection prowess...

This week, even if Browne and Thornton don't come back into the side as replacements at the last minute, our 22 will still only be the 8th or 9th oldest.

Nice one IP. Love the 3rd effects, but the vomit really needs to be blue, given we are talking about Carltank here.

If you think MJ is playing better than Taz or Solly, let alone both of them, you clearly haven't see many of our games over the last 2 seasons.

Both were 26 at the time we traded for them.
Well, in that case my opinion is 26 year olds are not going to get you to success

I think the problem at Freo has been many, many years of trying to trade or otherwise recruit established players. Sure, there aren't the farcical trades there used to be, but Tarrant still cost a fair bit, Solly cost something, and on and on. Kepler is doing some sort of a job, and hardly that old, and quite cheap, so I don't think that was a mistake. The only way is the hard way. Kids, draft, etc. What I see with you guys is so similar to us - not taking the risk to blood a kid. In the belief you're 1 or 2 players from a flag. Which has hurt us 2, 3, 5 years later. Do it over a long period, you get nowhere.

EDIT: In a lot of ways, it's not about how well Taz/Solly play. You know they'er going to give a certain level. {I saw little to like about Solly or Taz last week, maybe my bias}. What you also know is that if Taz was any good he would have kicked some goals while he was at C'Wood. Got found out. Solly just couldn't get fit over his last 2-3 years at EFC. got fit last year, played well. Looked back to his worst size last week. Only my opinion.

the game last night is the exact reason that the media should get off our back over picking hill over rich.

seeing those aboriginal boys remarkable athletisism is exciting and great for the game, i know rich is having a ripper first few games but he does not have the athletic capasity to break a game open, he gets alot of the ball but you wont see him bursting down the middle of the ground with 2 blokes trying to catch him but being blown out of the water. dempsey was fantastic last night and he was recruited in the 05 draft, so if you need any evidence that these boys just need time to develop last night is a perfect example, i can tell you now i would be much more excited to be a bombers supporter than a lions supporter after seeing some of the athleticism last night.

harvey made a great call here i reckon and im excited to see where the club is headed
