The first question for mine is would Richmond, Melbourne or the Kangaroos use their 1st pick on Tarrant if he was available in the National Draft.

The second question is would Carlton.

Third question is will Tarrant nominate a side.

I would think there is an outside chance that Kangaroos or Carlton might bite. If so then Tarrant then the worth is determined. Personally I think the deal needs to be sweetened on Freo's side say Tarrant, second rounder and fourth rounder for a 1st and 3rd rounder

i wouldnt want brown but just to clear things up.
He does not want out of the hawks.
Its just hes been given an offer to good to refuse, also said something about gonna be hard to leave though as he likes it there etc.
Still hasnt made mind up bla bla bla

This is always my favourite part of the year. When posters from other teams come here and tell us exactly what their clubs will or won't do in the draft. The best bit is when they start threatening pre-season draft and other ways we won't get anything if we don't accept their 5th rounder and a crab,

This ^ ^ ^

Or how supporters of teams over-value their own players and place unrealistic trade prices on them?

When it comes to Freo'/Carlton deals.. one of us has a big smile on our face.. ;)

Thankfully we've done all the serious trading that was necessary over the last few years and it looks to be paying very nice dividends. Having said that, I wouldn't want to be shortchanged either. Pick 20 is unrealistic imo, I rate Taz, always have done, but as has been mentioned he's heading down the retirement path very quickly. We don't need many more picks so whatever happens happens really, I put my faith in the club to do the right things by the club.

Another thing in our favour - not only are the Hawks and Blues in desperate need of a KPD but their respective coaching staff have copped a lot of heat from their support base.

Nothing sweetens the pot like a bit of competitive tension:)

Point taken. So in your opinion, what existing player would be a worthy trade for Tarrant (acknowledging that he would easily fit the KPP in your back line that you are so sorely missing)?
We may lose Shaun Grigg to Gold Coast, not sure on the compensation we would receive for him, he was a top 20 draft pick in 2006.. So we could off-load that if it's any good maybe. Andrew Walker looks to be on the trade table and there's a couple of WA boys who might be looking for a new home, Steven Browne and David Ellard.. Not too sure.

I think Carlton aren't desperate for Tarrant but would take him if they could get a good deal.

Like I said before I don't think Jacobs would be interested in Freo, he will either stay at Carlton or go back to Adelaide.. Hampson is an interesting one, he has the potential to be a freak ruckman and has shown signs of brilliance but really struggles for consitency

I honestly can't see us pursuing Taz, especially for our 1st rd pick, age and injuries would be too much of a factor, I think he'd be ideally suited at a club like St.Kilda, whose window for the premiership is open for at least another year or 2 and could do with a decent stopping KP backman

There's no chance I'd want us to trade Jacobs for Taz, I couldn't see how it would be a win-win when you consider Taz probably has max 2 yrs left in the game and Jacobs has the potential to be a decent ruckman for 10 yrs

haha i should be a footy journo.

I know this may seem like im taking the piss, I cant really believe it myself, but this girl I have been trying to get at uni who i have become really good friends with told me something today....

again PM for details, just in case. As much as i would like to put it out on the public board if she found out somehow, it would destroy all my hard work... i had forgotten until today that she knew this person.

and this one is 100%

Doesn't Bateman hate the Dockers?

Plus, he is no longer the runner he used to be... which makes him decidedly average now.

Big 'no thanks' on Bateman. Poor to average season this year and might even be lucky to keep a spot next year. Declining rapidly IMHO.

Chance Bateman: Down a bit on last year’s efforts but still a key contributor, often in a negating role. Ran afoul of the tribunal a couple of times but he’s at his best when he pushes the boundaries. Became the first Aboriginal player to reach 150 games at Hawthorn.

Nominating a side works very well when the side you nominate has a very early selection in the PSD like Carlton did with Judd and Warnock, and we did with MacPharlin. If the clubs don't do the deal, the player walks for free. If Tarrant walked, and assuming he scared off the non-Vic clubs, he'd be pretty likely to be at the Roos playing alongside his brother, or some other Vic based club.

This guy skews your theory

If my theory and your theory collided we would have passed on him for a midfielder????

That is the Judd timeline that your club is on I would have thought.

Not if he was happy to retire if he didn't get to the club he wanted. It's the risk factor that he would not play for a team that would discount where he might otherwise have been picked. I accept that if that team was in Melbourne then why wouldn't he sign but it may be that he wants to play for a club that he deems is close to a premiership (not passing judgement on clubs just hypothesising).

STAR Fremantle defender Chris Tarrant has played his last game with his adopted AFL club.

He will be targeted by Carlton, Hawthorn and possibly St Kilda to continue his colourful AFL career that started with the Magpies 13 seasons ago.

Tarrant is likely to head to a club that offers an acceptable trade that benefits Fremantle’s immediate plans to continue rising as a premiership force within the next two to three years.

See you next year Chris? ... Tarrant could be a teammate of Carlton's Heath Scotland next year

That's pretty much proof of what I've known since he injured himself against Sydney (I think?) But it's great of him to try for a trade that'll help Freo out, that's a great gesture, shows he genuinely cares. Cheers Chris!

EDIT: Injured in the derby, I seriously have the memory of a goldfish.

Didn't take long... The vultures are circling...

But good onya Taz for trying to get us the best deal.:thumbsu:

Seems like Tarrant is going back to Melbourne for Personal reasons and doesnt want the club to be r*ped.

What do we want and what is reasonable?

People are saying that last night at the game Taz didnt even sit with Freo, or in uniform. Rather with mates away from our guys who were in the stands seated.

Dissapointing if true imo . Surely one last night with the team that turned your flailing career around wasnt going to hurt too much?

Yeah he did, but was in the rooms after the game
