See you next year Chris? ... Tarrant could be a teammate of Carlton's Heath Scotland next year

A few points.

- By Kim Hagdorn
- Not one quote in the article. The whole thing is opinion based.

Look he's probably right in the fact we are going to lose Tarrant, I think I'm already resigned to the fact it's going to happen.

If we can get a pick around the 20-30 mark for him then I'd be extremely happy. Add to that there is going to be a bidding war for him and hey we may even get a first rounder.

For those supporters saying they wouldn't give up a first rounder for a 28 year old injury prone backman..... You would give up more than that to have a quality backman like Tarrant. I think Hawthorn would give an arm and a leg for him. Add Tarrant to the hawks backline and they will be extremely dangerous next year.

Tarrant for Hawks first round pick. (They'll have the pick for C.Brown to use instead, if he goes to GC like he is supposed to)

Agree with this, but can I add Hagdorn = russell coit with more acne scars.

Hell if we get something for Taz, then you bewt. If he goes to who ever makes the best deal for us then you bloody bewdy - good on ya Tazza!!. If we can get something to enhance our rise to the premiership (tearing up now) Then awesome.

We're gonna get something ok for him so thats all well and good, its Mundy re-signing that I'm hopefull and worried about at the same time.

Mundy re signs, Barlow back, Walters left foot, Hills run, mora's power (and taxi driver impersonation) Fyfes marking, Broughtons determination, DeBoers hell hath no fury like a man possessed , sandi's length Pavs ..........nose,..................ITS ALL GOOD, ITS BLOODY GOOD!

If he ends up at Collingwood, and they don't want to give up a decent draft pick, how about a homesick youngster like Jarrod Blight. Hasn't played a senior game for them yet, but has great promise. Can see him doing a similar jod to Roberton.

Firstly, I don't rate Tarrant as a man or a person. He shows all the signs of bloke you wouldn't want to go to war with. He would desert you in a heart beat.

Now he's gone the club I wouldn't mind seeing him go to is Hawthorn. I hate Collingwood (I'm no orphan) and Carlton have just poached too many good footballers from WA for my liking in the last few years, namely Judd and Warnock.

Given Tarrants age no club is going to give up an up and coming player so I reckon a straight trade for Chance Bateman would be an excellent swap for both clubs. Bateman is around the same age I think and Hawthorn have an abundance of midfielders. They have struggled since losing Trent Croad in the 2008 GF so Tarrant will give them a ready made replacement and they are still premeirship material with a player like Tarrant in their line up.

We would need to find a replacement for Tarrant but Bateman's experience and harder body would be ideal over the next few years while our younger lighter framed midfielders continue to grow and develop.

Thoughts?

No to Bateman, a midfielder at that age isn't worth as much as a KPP. Bateman's already on the way down.

We need to get a pick and a player. Hopefully that player is a good one that just hasn't reached their potential through inability to break into the first 22.

No way - not Bateman. We already have McPhee and Crowley in that hard bodied run-with role. Why would we need another? Schoenmakers isnt getting much of a run at the Hawks. Wouldnt mind seeing a trade to get him as he shows potential to be a KPD - which is what I think we are in need of.

I think if you walked a kilometre in his shoes you would not be so hard on him. He has always thrown himself headlong into danger for us as a team, defended his fellow team mates and supported them in every possible way.

I find it very difficult to see people stand in judgement of him when they clearly have no appreciation for the sacrifice he would have to make to stay. There is more to life than just football, and it's the quality of his personal life that has reflected on his match day performances.

He will take that same stability in his personal life across to his new club, and will try to secure the best deal for Fremantle. If he stayed he would be miserable and his performance would probably reflect that.

I was talking with a Hawthorn friend of mine and I asked him straight up what he thought the Hawks would give up for Tarrant. He said either Dowler or Morton (or both and a trade pick).

I actually wouldn't mind getting either of them - both over 190cm, around 22'ish in age. Thoughts? (he also said Moss or Ladsen)

I'm surprised all the numpties that want another ruckman on our list next year aren't suggesting that we trade Taz for Bailey?

Anyway, what about Dowler, Ladson or Morton? Garry Moss would be handy for depth too but being a rookie they can't trade him yeah?

I'd take Muston for Tarrant, not sure if he is out of contract or not though. Seems to impress every time I see him play, has a massive kick on him and a good strong mark. Also did some very handy tagging on the premier running half backs of the competition this year, (Kept Gilbert/Shaw/Enright), all very quiet.

How did Beau Muston go this year? Played some good games last year, was a very highly rated junior. I know he's had his injury troubles but he's tall and a very good inside midfielder.

Edit: lulz, great minds

It puts an interesting spin on things that Tarrant has said he will retire if an acceptable trade can't be done. Kind of puts the pressure on the Vic clubs to be reasonable rather than yell Pre-season draft, 5th rounder or nothing! The fact that he is prepared to walk away from the game, and I believe he'd follow through with this, puts us in the box seat to a fair extent. Nice one Chris.

Just out of curiosity - where did Taz say that he would retire if a decent deal wasnt made for Freo. I really really really hope that is true.

Chris Scott on ABC Radio more-or-less confirmed that Taz is gone.

Taz' wife/finance is already living in Melb.

Taz wanted (past tense) to stay put...... but......

Oh well, get on with remaking the back-line please Dockers.

Only played 5 games this year to take his tally to 13 over 6 seasons and not sure that he's entirely what we need.

Others would be better for us IMO i.e. Ladson, Morton and perhaps Dowler or Moss.

I honestly dont think we should be looking at Lewis. My opinion is that we need some talls (over 190cm), preferably reasonably young so we can mould them in to KPP (both forward and backs) as I think this is our weakest area

Lmao at some of the trade offers being bandied around on other boards. Some Carlton fans were offering Betts and Walker for Taz and Mundy after another poster thought pick 18 and Browne was too steep a price for Mundy. Good god there are some idiots on BF.
